manga =/= Visual Novels.
Visual Novels are reading games, either just straight up reading or they have points in the game where you can decide for the character.

Hentai: The Game you get for choices in girls and a half good but sped.thru plot. plays like a visual novel.

well....you could go to Renpy's website and get something free made by others(note that you need to buy for some so read it carefully before you download...) if you want you could download renpy and make visual novels yourself! well, if you sell it, and it gets popular, you could make some profit of it....

katawa shoujo does have h scenes but you can disable them in the menu options. it is a good game, Hanako is my favorite

I really recommend Katawa Shoujo. It's a VN with an interesting premise, sure. But the characters are as human as the real thing. People have been changed by this game. Not to mention, several other projects have sprung into existence thanks to KS, one of which I'm a part of. It's really exciting to actually work on such a project, and I can see why the KS devs kept going for five years.

I looked up this Katawa Shoujo game. Sounds interesting. I might get it, though the disibilities part kinda makes me think otherwise. Saw some pics and read some, doesn't sound like I thought it would at first. So, all in all, probably will get it.

Katawa shoujo was one of the first VNs i played, and it blew me away.
dont get turned away by the disabilities part, its intergral to each girls personal story.
and all the girls are beatiful, and i mean that more in character then in appearance.
truly an amazing starter for anyone.

If you have an iOS device, Juniper's knot is a free English visual novel that's just absolutely amazing. It was my first, and I won't be forgetting it for a long time.
