More contributions.

So I recently finished Princess Waltz. Here, I'll tell you the plot of it, then give you my impressions.

You are Fukamori Arata, and you know nothing of princesses or waltzes. In fact, your daily life in modern Japan couldn't be any more ordinary - you live with your mother and sister, are woken daily by your childhood friend to go to school, and live a generally full but normal life surrounded by a gang of rowdy classmates. When rumors start circulating about a transfer student to your class, you don't pay much attention.
When Chris Northfield arrives, it seems the rumors might be true. What is such a refined, polite and accomplished youth doing at your school? Your curiosity gets the better of you, but as you investigate you begin to realize you're getting into something deeper than you ever imagined...

Now, it plays just like Utawarerumono and Tears to Tiara, in that you have no choice whatsoever. Linear plot, etc. Also, this game is interesting, in that it's a game with card battles. Can't grind though, so that sucks. And there's not really that much battles, or at least not until the later half of the game, but even then it's still not much. So that's part of where it sucks.

The story didn't catch my attention much. Like, so there's six princesses killing each other to be the prince's wife or some shit. So what? Could've done it in a much humane way. But whatever. The later half of the game is when it starts to get a slight bit better. I won't spoil you any more than this.

So here's my recommendation. If you're into not much card battles, go for it. If you're into princesses fighting each other, check it out. and whatever else I forgot to mention.

Damn, to think I was about to make a thread about this. Oh well, I've got a recommendations thread to finish writing up.

I found it interesting, but I'm an idiot you can just wave something shiny in front of to keep entertained. I do agree that the second half was where things started to get better though.

Also, to anyone who gets a bad end - just try to start a new game. See what happens.

This question may sounds stupid but I don't really know much about the game or the backgroud so fogive my stupidity. But what makes it risky to play the game Liliana?
Once again I know it may be a stupid question so forgive my ignorance.

>>8 It's an eroge. An erotic game. Sure, it may have RPG like qualities, but it also has those sex scenes in it. Some, or most actually, games on this board will definitely have sex scenes.

>>7 Ah well. Again, your choice. But in any case, you technically don't need to do the other girl's routes, it's just some random stuff that just slightly edits the ending thing, if I recall correctly. One route is all you need to experience the game's joy. Any other route is extra stuff like more sex scenes, and whatever.

Do you think its wrong to play erotic games and such? Most people seem to say its just porn with a longer plot but its not really is it? I guess what I'm really asking is do people play it just for sexual reasons or is there more to these games? I suppose its personal opininon but figured I'd ask anyways

>>10 Some people honestly play it for the sex, others play them for the story or simply the fun of some of the more interactive games. For example, Fate/Stay Night has a very expansive and interesting story and premise, and it was an absolute joy to read through simply of how the entire plot was woven (and also, the Ctrl key is wonderful for skipping the sex scenes in a lot of games). Likewise Kamidori has a weaker story, but it's a highly interactive dungeon crawler that's a joy to play, with the sex being a more on-the-side thing rather then the focus of the gameplay (and once again, if you don't want to see those scenes the Ctrl key works wonders).

Admittedly, there are a lot of trashy games out there, where the sex is the main focus and the plot is about how to get it, but there are other erotic games out there which don't focus on it, and may even have a plausible reason for using it to drive a plot point (Yume Miru Kusuri actually has a lot of subtext in said H-scenes which displays the state of the relationship between the characters, along with the emotional and mental state of the heroine, rather then being "Oh, sex is great. Gotta have more sex").

Basically, a good guideline to go by is a story/plot-to-sex ratio. The lower the ratio is, the less likely it is to be worth your time unless you're some kind of sex-hungry nymphomaniac. Most, if not all, threads on the board are about games that are high on the ratio (or the ratio may be non-existent in some cases as sex=0), so as long as you remember that most games will let you use the Ctrl key to skip scenes you'll be set to explore any of these titles for the story behind them rather then going "OH MY GOD, A PENIS. THIS GAME IS THE WORK OF THE DEVIL!" (yes, obvious strawman, I know)

Oh, there IS one exception to the whole story-to-sex ratio though - Sengoku Rance. It doesn't have a thread here (yet), but it is a truly enjoyable strategy game, even if the protag is a sex-hungry mercenary with his own sex-slave, out to have sex with as many women as possible simply because the strategy game is so deep and intricate, along with the Ctrl key working again and it having some absolutely priceless humor.

Then again, this is an opinion piece. tl;dr version: I play this stuff for the plot or because it's legitimately fun, the sex isn't important in any manner whatsoever (unless it's a good game and the sex is a plot point - because then the sex becomes part of the story :V).

I really like this game, but there is one thing that ruins it for me. If you beat the game, six times, with all of the princesses, you get this epilogue that themes Nodoka. She starts bitching about things like "Stupid Arata, why did you have to leave?" And then you come back, for five minutes, and you leave, and she follows you, and the last line of the game is "I'm gonna go get me a prince."... And there's no sequel... Fuck...

im sorry but i have to say that if you play stuff like this for sexual reasons there's something wrong with you, i mean that's just WAY TOO MUCH CLICKING just to get to those parts, unless thats all the novel is.
