I thought that to make this board more user-friendly we should start a thread where people can request links for particular VNs, and the rest of us could provide those links. I'm afraid I won't be much help here as I usually get mine from my friends, but any assistance would be appreciated, right?

I would like to make a blanket request for any decent Mac VNs.

I just became interested in VNs. So, for a first time user, what would you suggest?

I'm afraid I don't own a Mac or know anyone with a Mac that plays visual novels, so I'm afraid I can't help you there. I heard at uni that there is a Mac version of Higurashi, so you could try looking for that.

I'm currently in the process of writing up a list of VNs good for beginners (from personal experience and recommendations), but for now I could suggest Saya no Uta (if you can stand gore), Fate/Stay Night (text heavy, but simple enough),Ever 17 - The Out of Infinity (recommended by friends, haven't tried yet), Kira Kira (simple and lighthearted), and Yume Miru Kusuri (serious in tone, but is a very engaging read). Sorry about not being able to provide links at this time, as I just got back from the country (but you can find links for Yume Miru Kusuri in the relevant thread).

Fine, I did some damn digging. Freeware VNs from www.renai.us should work fine on Macs.
Also, apparently the following VNs have Mac versions:
Animamundi
Yo-Jin-Bo
Date Warp
Bionic Heart
No, I'm not finding links, and I'm not testing them out.

Also, a program called Crossover Office can be used to play Windows VNs that don't have CD checks or DRM. It costs money to get though, so you may want to pirate that too (not finding links because I'm a lazy apathetic fuck).

You've also probably heard of Bootcamp, Virtual PC 7, and VMWare Fusion and the hassles of using them, so I won't reiterate them here.

The two of them go together, so any games you find on the second link should work perfectly fine if you use the launcher from the first link.

Yeah, I know about the renai.us ones (most of them are made people posting on the LemmaSoft forums), though it's hard to find particularly decent ones on there.

Because I'm too lazy to find a complete vanilla one or get all the things separately, have this one with the translation patch, the voice patch, and the 2.0 Realta Nua picture patch (it adds in (often more awesome) pictures from the PS2 port, and it has an option of keeping the game with H content or going full PS2-conversion (no H scenes)).

Haven't looked yet, but by excluding the use of Daemon Tools you've blocked every download that gives you an iso. Which is pretty much every single VN download there is. So the odds of someone fulfilling your request to the letter is pretty damn low.

I've downloaded a VN with an iso files before. i used a program called active@ iso burner. i just heard some bad stuff about Daemon Tools from my friend. Of course, if they do the same thing, then disregard what i said. Any safe links would be appreciated.

This site is very safe, but the only downside is that you have to download the VN in 250mb parts. Every VN here is also English patched when required, so no need to search for that either. Wasn't able to find a torrent that I could guarantee to be safe, so sorry about that.

I use Winrar, but the basic process should be the same. All I have to do is select all of them through Shift+Click in Windows Explorer, then right click and select the extract option. That should create a solitary folder with everything merged together correctly.
