Let's look at the anime: of course we aren't going to be fighting with the yellow scarves and such, but what I want you to think about is the way members joined. They were sent emails. No one really knew the password unless it was given to them. This made it interesting, it made them feel like they were apart of something cool. We could do the same, sort of. First we would have to get the password to this site changed. It's too easy for people wanting to join to get the password. This is good right? We want more people to join, so we need it right? The reason people want to join is because they think it's very interesting, they want to be apart of something like the Dollars in the anime. But that interest can fade when all you need to do is to search the password, it's just boring. No excitement. Changing the password would make the Dollars more interesting. Then that's where the existing members come in. We can email people at random, leave envelopes with the password lying around, sort of discrete but not entirely, but never leak the password on the internet for millions to find.

Think about it, humans always want what they can't have.

why not just make an app? not a mainstream one per se, but an app that can be sent out in the form of a link? seems more practical

yeah the dollars are kinda dead now and we need to make them as popular as they used to be. I mean even the person that called themselves Shiro is gone now! I like this idea and I want to go through with it but i'm not sure how it will work.

People come and go around here, its not uncommon to see someone introducing themselves on Intro board and then never appeared anywhere else anymore. Its also common for regulars to just disappear out of nowhere only to appear again years later, when no one remembers them anymore. I personally am waiting for those regulars to comeback, they seem like a genuinely fun people to hang around with. At least based from the archive I've read dated years ago.

About Dollars, we never really got popular. I honestly thought people wouldn't bat an eye on someone that did no wrong. We're just trying to make the world a better place, no ulterior motives so the world wouldn't care. Some definitely would be piqued, but most? They'll leave us alone, and we'll stay here in a dormant state, peacefully.

Missions are voluntary, don't force people to it. More so if you really have no intention in taking part on it, depends on what you want to achieve. Dollars popularity or contribute in making this world a less shitty place.

You could have the greatest idea that would bring Dollars to the top of the world with just a requirement of some people participating, but if people weren't interested then it will be the end of it. You yourself should have that indomitable willpower to face the hardships that is to come, if not then we'll just be dormant like this. Life is good, life is peaceful. Until someone have that much willpower and perseverance to step up, nothing will ever change. I'm just following the current.

Also, how long will you stay again? You sounded like one of those guys who said "We need to do something!" only to then disappear without leaving any efforts.

I wish The Dollars were popular enough to make the World News or such. Everything someone comes up with an idea, no one really listens. Also, trying to switch to a popular social media platform will never work. We're always gonna have this place as the only official Dollars hangout because this was how it was like in the anime. Sure, we might have cells in different social media platforms, but I believe the majority of members will be here. Here you don't have to give away your date of birth, location, name, phone number, or email address to sign up. You have anonymity here and if you never post no one will ever know you were here. Sure thst info can be hacked, but everything online can be hacked and we're not all hackers. Now, if we wanted people speaking about The Dollars the best thing would probably be for everyone who is a member to give the link and password to someone else and tell them to pass it along to someone they know and repeat the process. Simple really is best, we don't need to make a grand motion to become popular. Sure some people wouldn't pass the info along and others wouldn't even check the sit out, but membership should still skyrocket because remember even though only a handful of people post regularly there are others who just log on and read post without ever posting themselves so we should have more than enough members to spread The Dollars around.

Longtime member and regular here, in a sort of way. I don't think the Dollars will ever go back to how it was before. There are just some things that can't and shouldn't be recreated. Even if the Dollars did explode in popularity again, it just wouldn't be the same, yaknow? I'm not saying that the Dollars shouldn't exist, just that it was a product of a different time, and Firion is right about the newbies having too high expectations. The older members who come back do so out of nostalgia, and while I wish they would come back and I could get in contact again with a few of them in particular, the reality is that most have moved on already and are living in the real world, admins and trolls alike. The Dollars at one point used to be part of the real world, but now it's become an escape, and it kind of deadens the original appeal. The internet isn't new and exciting anymore, and constant global connectivity bringing a sense of isolation is the norm now. I personally enjoy just being a part of its lore. I've been popping into the irc chatroom in intervals because it's nice to talk to people not through social media from time to time and see familiar names, even though almost no one there remembers my old handle, but people change and not everything is meant to last. I think that's what the Dollars is mainly now: a place where people can be reminded that they aren't alone. I prefer my irl relationships and have spent years away from this site prioritizing those, but I just can't seem to fully leave the Dollars, and I think that just shows the impact it has had on me and other members I'm sure. Anyways, whether you be new or old, it's easy to get disappointed with life because we can't control some things, but deluding ourselves in a fiction, trying to recreate something great, would just lessen its greatness at the end of the day, wouldn't it? One thing we do know for certain is that things and people are never in a static state, and no matter what direction the Dollars goes in, it'll never be quite the same as before, and things never quite happen the way you expect them to, but that's life.

After a lot of thought, the only best solution I found was if the dollars chat lounge was directly connected to the dollars bbs.
