Main cluttering countermeasure? (8)

it looks like the site is undergoing the big problem of the main section getting cluttered, some of the spammers are probably just plain trolls, while others are newbies who don't know what to do, maybe a little countermeasure would be redirecting any user who's accessing via password, to the "about" section, any newbie would read the section and with a bit of common sense will click on the "FAQ" link, then they would start reading the "newbie thread" and so on.
any toughts? do you think that's reasonable? possible for the admin to make such a change?

Some thing that might be helpful would be the difference between main and missions, because for a long time I thought they were the same thing and I couldn't find anything.

>>1 We've already been discussing this. I've bumped up on of the threads.
>>2 ...what're you even talking about?

/sage

>>3:i actually forgot to check the threads first, sorry for that.
/sage

what does /sage do?

>>3 When I click All Threads when on Main it won't show things on missions or suggestions. However you need to click on main to get to missions.
Missions and Main are different.

>>5 Read. The. Damn. FAQ.
Clicking the sage box wont bump this to the top.

Also, if you read the FAQ you would've been able to find it.

Missions is considered a sub-board. I believe they mods didn't want to have so many side bar boards, so they tucked Intros, suggestions, and missions under there bc those boards were rarely used at the beginning.
/sage <-- we put this here to let people know that they need to sage if they reply.

>>6 Like a newcomer is going to know what that means. All in all I find adding '\sage' at the end of a post pretty useless. It used to be the actual mechanics to sage something, but now that we have a checkbox I don't see the point. Anyone that knows what \sage means would know to sage in the first place.

>>7 What're you talking about? There are plenty of threads on Main that explain the sage function just fine. Even a newbie should be able to understand.

And like I said here >>6 I think of it as a reminder to sage, or it means dont both replying to this bullshit thread.
