Don't know if this have been suggested yet but what about notifications when someone posts on your thread, etc? It gets old refreshing the page many times to see if someone posted or having to watch the page all day to talk with people.
On this site? How would that work? It has to be an application, not a site and even with that, the owner of this site dont have time to manage, nor can you fools even bother to make an app, hell, make the app, i have yet to see people's open source project of an Dollars app.
Besides, this is a bbs, and the internet, bookmark this place and check back every so often, not that hard
1. Constant updates for say, an app, requires taxing the server, the client's internet and the client's hardware as little as possible. There is no API for retrieving post information easily with as little information as possible, so writing a program to constantly check the site (grabbing each board page then parsing the HTML to divine information) would be slow as balls and impractical. Notifications on the site that work with Firefox + Chrome's implementation would need a similar system because it would work in the background like how the app would update.
*NOW OF COURSE, THERE IS AN RSS FEED FOR ALL OF THIS AND THAT COULD BE USED.* But with the flow of information and how slowly threads are created, making requests to check every single individual thread constantly then parsing would be slow as aids. A possible quick solution to this problem would be to add an ID to the posts in the RSS feed and whenever a response is added change the ID to indicate to clients to check the thread for new responses.
2. Chatting app: The API for Drrrchat or whatever's available online. Read it, understand it, then create your own. It's not hard! I had the pleasure of playing around with a newer programming language 'Swift' last night and it was extremely fun.
3. An emailing list would probably need to be designed from the getgo.
