Adding a "Search For Thread" Feature on the site (6)

As you may already know, there are a lot of duplicate threads on dollars for a particular subject or matter. I would like to suggest for a "Search for Thread" feature which would allow a user to search for a thread which is may be already available on the bbs by typing in keywords.

Don't really know if this is the best place to post about suggestions for the site, but I hope you take this into consideration.

Thank you.

I am also fully aware of the View All Threads on the site. This feature is suggested for a matter of convenience to the users of this site.

Thank you.

I really think if you knew about the View All Threads and search function, you would've come across the countless others who have asked about this (including myself), and would see all the reasons they have been bumped down. It's gotten to the point where I wonder if regulars even have the strength or patience to answer this kind of question again, but I haven't in a long while, so I'll give it a shot.

One of the reasons we don't bother with it is because you can just search for older threads by using control+F or, if on a mobile device, typing what you're searching for in the URL bar, and hit the "search page" option.
Another reason is that we would need each post to use tags, so that would mean the thousands of past posts made without tags would pretty much just be tagless because we don't have an edit option.
I don't know why we can't have an edit button, you'll have to ask someone else.

>>3 Oh yeah, and even if we had an edit button, only people who created the threads (and possible the mods) could edit them. A lot of old threads are from users who are no longer here, or don't visit as regularly. That would mean it would take the mods going through hundreds of threads and adding tags to them all in order to add a search bar to the site.

>>4 Hopefully an edit feature is never added. There'd be too many bait and switchers.

>>5 Good point there, and for this search function, doesnt it say somewhere in the new guide or FAQ that tgeres a function to find threads? Ctrl + f and some app for phone? Pretty sure it said that.
