I think it would be a good idea to be have more location awareness on here- Either sort out news posts by location or by having people imput a broad area when they log in like selecting a country. What defines the size of the area being defined should be population, to allow people to remain safely anon, but this would help a bit with overall orgianization and allow us to use and spread info effectively.

The news sections really isn't busy enough to have a different board for every country/area.

Unfortunately you are correct in this... I do think it would be a good thing to do still~ the main idea is to have location broadly have a greater role on the site while keeping anonimity be realizing that you can hide in the crowd of being in a larger city- if not you can hide in a more largely defined area... This realization would make more ok with sharing a relative location and allow for us to use the site for smaller but relative tasks- ie spreading missing persons info and such

Also- It would be more to link certain news pieces so they would appear above everything else if they occur in your area, but still have everything on the same page (think google's adverts at the top of a search)

Tbh, lot of countries just made their own off-site forums to discuss area-specific missions and news. There's also a Localized Groups thread on Missions where you can create / join chats created by people in your area to discuss the Dollars.

I'm also pretty sure this isn't possible with the script currently being used to build the site. Indexing posts based on location with Kareha sounds like it'd be a nightmare.

I believe this to be a good idea. It will help create smaller close-knit communities. The only question now is how do we get them to contact each other? Should contact information be shared for each region? And of course safety should be a first priority.

I think this type of thing would make it easier for those of us who wanna meet up also a bit more dangerous though. But the only effective way to find out is a test

>>9 That's true, I mean we could talk all day but not much would happen :). Gathering info is usually the best way to start this kind of thing. We should share information about groups already formed so far and theorize on their successes and failures. A few of us could also open up a chatroom to facilitate discussion. If I make such a chat it will be under the name of "Location Specific News" in the Durarara Chat until I feel like opening up a skype chat with people. I think that it would be a good thing to do because people who see this thread may be attracted to joining. It will also attract people who wish for more serious discussion. Just a thought.

To a degree, I think something very good will come from this. It may need to be tweaked a bit for sometime before it's applicable like most things but, i think this is very realistic and it is definitely something that those who choose to help the communities around them would see as a very strong recourse to do what the do for others.
