This may seem illogical... but I'll throw the idea out there and hopefully it hasn't been already.
Recently people have been complaining and arguing over many people who come to this site thinking it is a fan site when it is not. It may be based off an anime, but it is real.
What I am getting at is: Is there a way to filter people who come to role-play and act like this is a Durarara fan site?
Please let's not get into arguments while discussing this...
If we could figure a way to do this, wouldn't the site be less... what's the word I am looking for... Spammy? Anyway, please let me know thoughts and suggestions regarding this.

No. The only way would be to IP ban people, but that takes about as much work as cleaning up Main after someone posts something stupid anyway, so it doesn't actually help at all.

The only way to filter anything is to let people know very well that this is not a fansite nor a gang. There is already a thread you posted on twice about that, and I am not totally sure why you made a new thread discussing almost the same topic.

Also, this has been happening since the beginning of time. It's a constant issue but not a very serious one.

There is one way to filter something, is to implement into the site's coding, banned name lists. Basically anything anime type of name is added to the list, and basically any names with numbers or "spam" amounts of letters, and if it locates it when inputting the name itself it just won't allow them to post.

It won't filter people who role play, but it'll have them think of a more useful name and thus may help them in the long run of things.

In addition to filtering common names, common phrases could be a trigger to hide the post (or thread, depending on the case). An example could be filtering the phrase 'yellow scarves', for example.
Although if it were a global filter (instead of a user based one), it would have to be very careful on what words would trigger the filter, since there's a possibility that the phrase might be used in correct context, like in the DRRR thread in animation.

I think the only way to completely make this problam go away would be to change our name, and I doubt anyone wants to do that.

I don't really see a problem with role-players. Just as long as they don't take it too far, that is. ^^

Yeah, i agree on a sub-board for RPers. I myself don't mind RPers, but it might get a little confusing for people unfamiliar to anime. So yeah, some kind of filter would be nice.
