Whenever a new episode, chapter, film, or game comes out there are bound to be people buying it from the start, and those who buy it at a later date.
Now, when people get caught up in this hype of a new game/ manga/ ext. they often talk and discuss about it.
And one way or another the ending (or the most recent portion) will be discussed, that's a guarantee. Now, for most people, they simply avoid discussion of such things out of respect for those who have not seen it yet, or if they must discuss it, end up guessing how many lines down to put the spoiler so that it's not viewable from the front page of a board.
However, there are times in which people forget that others haven't seen ____, and ruin a portion of it for everyone else.

This problem can be solved rather easily by the use of a spoiler. Simply adding spoiler tags (Ex.- [s]"example"[/s], only replace the "[]" with arrows; can't do it because the text would be lost) should solve this problem.

One option for hiding spoilers would be to put the text as a "click to expand" sort of feature, similar to pic related. The addition of a spoiler tag is a low priority one, considering it doesn't happen too often, but hopefully when this is implemented (if it is) it will help create discussion without fear of ruining something for others.

The proposed spoiler tag would be aimed towards these boards:
-Animation
-Comics
-Films
-Games
-Literature
While it seems more necessary to be on these boards than others, I'll leave it up to everyone else to decide whether or not it should go on any other boards (or all of them) as well, if at all.

I'm sorta surprised that we didn't have a spoiler tag before, considering all of the other HTML tags that we have. I'm in support of [s][/s], replacing brackets with arrows, since it goes with the current theme.

As for the exclusion of some boards having the tag but not others, I don't really care, but I'd like for it to be on all boards. I dunno. No real good reason for it.

I kind of like this idea. But I think the "show" button should look like "[Show]" rather than a big button like the one in the picture. It just looks better to me that way.

Good, well actualy a spoiler function is easy to implement, all the other forums have it so with a little bit of search and coding it would be done in a day or two, maybe even in some houres

And Black, you said that the spoiler tag showld aim for specific section of the dollars website, but it's harder to code something for only few places than to all of them, so it should be easier to the admin to code for every section, meaning the spoler tag would work in the all sections

I think he's gonna make HTML spoiler tags, keep it in the theme of everything on this site.

Actually, before the sage feature was put into effect, it was only on the test board. From there it was put unto the other boards, so having them on specific boards shouldn't be too much of a problem.

The only reason I didn't suggest having them on other boards was because of it's potential to be abused. For instance, if someone said "wow, you're a really nice person and I think you're a[s] faggot.[/s] It's misleading, and can be used for a few laughs, but I think it'd be better to discuss if all boards should get them or just the ones that need them (i.e. with show/ movie/ ext. content).

To the second part of that post, more specifically the last sentence, I kind of agree. I think it'd be nice to hide spoilers from movies, games, books, etc. for those that don't want to see them. Then it becomes a "Read at your own risk" type of thing. That way those carelessly browsing don't happen upon information that they don't wish to see.

This also could be used for Rated R posts. Though stuff like cussing, as I do mostly, would be an extreme pain in the ass to hide each cuss word, and there's the highly controversial topic of what would count as such, it could still be used in places such as the RPs, for extremely graphic scenes (Not sex. That's tacky. I mean blood, guts and gore.). We can still keep the whole, "No porn here" rule, but allow this site to be a bit more child friendly. That's just a thought though, because no one gives a flying fuck about the twelve-year-olds that seem to be taking over this site because most of the regulars are old enough drink, or buy a pack of smokes for the younger ones, without getting into trouble.

You'll find more complaints about attitude rather than cursing. Every time a person cusses out another (be it for misplaced thread, ext.) the response is always "why are you so mean?" or something to that affect. Never do you hear "hey, watch your language!" So I believe spoilering curses would be more of a personal choice than a rule, considering almost nobody cares.

For the graphic RP's, I assume that it wouldn't be much of a problem, however, the choice whether or not to spoiler gore text should be decided upon how often people complain about it on Literature or elsewhere. If no one has posted complaints about it, then it's not really a problem that needs to have a forced solution. Any future problems of people complaining about the gore text can be solved by simply asking those replying to spoiler it when the time comes, since there's no real reason to make them spoiler it at the moment (as far as I'm aware).

I mean, there's been scenes that could be graphic had the RPer chosen to expand them, but it pretty much ended up being, "The tiger ate the body." It was gross, but not graphic. I don't know about Hekaton, but Clockwork has been pretty tame. I'm just throwing that in there as a "what if" situation. I'm pretty sure that not many people actually want to write gore, though I just like description. It provides intensity.

The last part, I don't doubt. I know that the younger members here drive me insane.

Makes sense, although I would probably put it on all the boards to keep the functionality the same.
It would be in the format of an html tag (e.g. ) that creates a hover-over spoiler (easier to do than expandable click). Since the text color is white, we can have the spoiler be a white background that disappears or turns to black when you hover over it.
