A Type of PM should be put on here. (7)

So I've been thinking about this some and I think that it might benefit some of us (or all of us) to have some type of private messaging on this site. Since we obviously don't have our own profiles, I realize that this may be a bit hard to do, and have no clue of how to go about this as well. But if it can be done, I believe it should be. Unless there is and I just don't know about it. If that's the case, then please tell me as I really don't like looking like an idiot.

Also, I remember that on Drrr! there was a pm thing on the Dollars Chat area. Do we have that same thing? And if so, how do you send private messages?

There is no private messaging feature with the chatroom we link to. The chatroom isn't ours, so we have no control over its features.

A PM could not be implemented if there aren't any profiles. The only normal way to do it would be by IP address (which is the way Deleting a post works), but those of us with dynamic IP addresses wouldn't be able to look at the messages later.

The only other way that I can think of doing it would be if there were private threads. Say, we would have a special board that has no front page. It would bring you straight to the View All Threads page for that board, and there would be a feature there where you could make a new thread. Each thread would have a password. So, when you click on the thread you want to go to, it would ask you for a password. Only those who knew the password could comment and discuss on that thread.

Again, though, I don't really think it's possible. Even if it is, I think any system we do is going to take a lot of work and time to put together. I'm not sure if our admin would be up for that kind of venture either way.

Yea it would definitely be hard to do, but if the Admin let us have some kind of profiles then maybe it could happen. But who knows. It does seem like a bit too much work though as the Admin would have to end up changing a lot of different things.

It's probably best to create a chat for two or something at drrrchat and then invite the person that you want to talk to on it via some thread. Although that has a lot of major flaws as some ass could look at the post and then act if there the person you trying to talk to on the chat. So this probably wouldn't work.

I do hope that the Admin does consider this. But like the fake Dollars, this sites Admin rarely makes an appearance.

Though apparently op will not give a damn, i am wholeheartedly against this idea, since it really seems like itd be a huge waste of reltairs time and would just bring about another version of the chat, filled with cyber idiots, spam, and faggotry.

>>3 No. We're not having profiles; that has been decided already. We do have a thread somewhere for contacting people you met in chat, and you could always just tell your friend to say something only they know about. "When you first come into the chat, say my favorite character's name!" or something like that.

>>4 Same here :/ I think it could technically be possible, but I wouldn't really want to have this feature.

If you want to send people private messages, there are other ways to contact them, be it online or by phone/text, what have you.

If you ask them for a way to contact and they give you one, problem solved.

If you ask them and they decline, so be it. They don't want to talk to you by other means than the posts here.

So for those reasons and the fact that it'd be a bitch to implement and there isn't an efficient way of going about it, I am also against this.

>>5 Yea that's definitely true. But it was just something that I was thinking of. And I guess I can understand why some people would rather not have this feature, or at least wouldn't care much for it.

>>6 I understand you're reasoning. And the only way I would be really be with this thought of mine completely is if there was an effective way to have this. But since there's not, then there's no reason to try to have the mods rewrite parts of the site (or however you go about it), to have something that only a few people would actually use.
