I was wondering if we could get like Dollars merchandise, such as shirts, buttons, lanyards, and all that good stuff, so we can flaunt our pride as a Dollar?

I was thinking the exact same thing! There is a website called Zazzle.com and you can make a design and put them on all of those items listed. If someone will make an account and put the dollars design on it they could sell them to us. Plus whoever does it first will make a profit by getting a percentage of the sales.

Nevermind, they already exist! If you go on zazzle and search "the dollars", then keep scrolling, you can find dollar merchandise for sale.

I went to the site and found a dollars button, but it was from a different site. Earlir on there was a thread talking about making a dollars wrist band - one of those rubber ones that you see around now a days, so you could probably go check that out if you want merch from this community.

I don't know if i should say this, but doesn't this defeat the purpose of being invisible and colorless? But you can go ahead if you want.

All that good stuff is tacky, and this has been discussed before. The only thing that we came up with that wasn't obnoxiously tacky and overdone was a wristband, which was a failed idea.

I do like the wristband idea, but only if it's kept with the site. We'll look like Drrr!! fanboys and fangirls, but if only people from the site can buy it, we'll be able to recognize who is who and still hide the real purpose from others. The only problem is, the wristband idea was very disorganized. Someone who is good at organizing needs to redo it and make it so people can buy directly from the wholesaler to avoid all the economic conflicts.

I agree with Rimn. I understand how you would want to show the world that you are in the Dollars but we are supposed to be invisible. By being Dollars we are strong, we are trying to make a change and help people. I don't think we need to "flaunt our pride" even though I am very proud to be a Dollar.

Ive been here for 3+ years..maybe 4 ive lost track and im one of the Older members who like to keep the site organized.

So I was thinking maybe something simple like a black silicone wristband with the letters "DOLLARS" debossed on the outside with maybe something like a symbol debossed or imprinted on the inside to tell the difference between a BBS original.

Like this picture but black and different lettering of course.

(Or you could just get rid of everything on the outside and just have a symbol on the inside, but a plain black wristband might be too plain for people.)

Man, you guys got it all wrong: Don't buy, make it yourself. The Bracelet is the best idea above all because it's visible, yet invisible, not tacky; and it’s not annoying, such as necklaces when you jump, they just hit you in the face. What our Dollars leader should do is make a new section/tab called recognition, and in that tab he or she will discuss on how you should make a bracelet to be recognized as a Dollar if you so incline to do so. You can go to your local supper store and pick up string and rock beads etc. The Dollars leader should design the bracelet and give detailed instructions on how to make it. Example: Yellow and black string twisted with yellow, black, and blue rock beads.

P.S. the rubber bracelet is lame – way over done.

Yes, I do agree and the recent influx of trolls lately, is there to prove it. But there are people who wish to announce theyre part of the Dollars just to feel better about themselves or just to give their good deeds a name. Which I, personally, do not have a problem with. If theres trolls, I have faith in Reltair to deal with them accordingly. We have been able to keep this site organized for 4 years I believe..since 2010, I think.

Yeah, that's understandable. However I don't think there would be a problem to have very small things like bracelets that can't be distinguished if not seen from close. This way we'd still be transparent unless a person observes us extremely closely.

Well, the downside of an anonymous group is that you cannot control it. Similar to how you can't stop people from distributing the password (unless an admin does something), you can't stop people from distributing merchandise through other methods. Anybody can just give a link to the merchandise page or sell it themselves, and nobody can do anything about it if they wish to keep their anonymity.

Copyright? Well, technically yes, though these companies don't usually care about fan-made items. And who would they charge if they did care? They'd lose more money on lawsuits than they would earn from suing a random dude selling fan-made accessories.

The thing is there is still a lot of debate going on regarding the matters of copyright and intellectual property rights. Somethings in the law just ain't practical to follow word by word, often times it simply can't be applied to all situations, and sometimes it becomes obsolete or outdated, like copyright.

There would be no point to discuss copyright matters here, especially because it's an anonymous group - if somebody makes merchandise, what are you going to do about it? Nobody actually has authority over others among this group. To put it simply: it's better to just not discuss about this at all. You're free to share your opinion however.

If this Dollars merch is something that you guys really want, I'm sure there's Dollars merch somewhere online from the actual anime.... But it'd be cool to make something like that. There are plenty of websites online that could make Dollars merch; however, the person who makes that website would have to be the one who gets the money, so it should most likely be Reltair.

If we don't want to use name or any element from anime that people would recognise and google it, we can use dots that logo is made of. Just putting them into small square, circle or any shape you want will do. That kind of badge or shirt will remain transparent for the rest.

I think people have gotten things all muddled up. Rather than being 'invisible' or 'colourless' or anything, the Dollars are a group of people who sit around doing nothing. Because of that, the general public don't know anything about them. They're probably 'colourless' because they could also come from any colour gang, but also be disassociated from that gang. In the anime, didn't a whole bunch of Dollars turn up to their first ever meeting and they distinguished themselves from others by holding their phones? In the same way we could still go with the shirt or bracelets ideas. Just my two cents.
I have considered setting up a business for this, but it needs consultation before it's getting anywhere. I am a Dollars, after all.
We could put the ordering form or whatever only on this website so that outsiders won't be able to get at it. Someone will probably leak it somewhere but whatever, anyone can be a Dollars right?

I like the idea of a ring. It will maintain the "Transparancy" of the dollars members. With a ring it will be seen but not looked at. It would be more subtle than a necklace or button and a ring is also very practical since it won't be hitting us in the face when we move around and it won't be sticking our identity of the dollars in peoples faces? What if, if this does ever end up happening, instead of having "DOLLARS" written out on the item we use the two outer circles from the logo but then a single dot from the word? Like the upper left corner of the "D" or the middle of the second "L" located in it's place alone within the two rings, and each member receives a random part of the word because we are all individuals (dots) who strive to do small deeds of good that amount to bigger things when done en-mass as a group (the whole word). I'm not sure this would be a good idea because then we would be kind of a profit organization. Dollars are not a profit group; We are united to make the world a better place and just burying ourselves in money and "showing off pride" sounds like a supercilious thing to do.

Okay, here is a solution. If you wish to create your own brand for the Dollars (for your own use) then this site has gained no profit while everyone can take pride in their own ingenuity. I'll also repeat for your own use because if sold to others it will be against the copyright laws.

We're supposed to be colourless and not recognised unless we actually tell people. That kinda defeats the objective. But sure, make your own crap and don't try selling it. If you start selling it off for profit then Ryohga Narita will be on your arse faster than you can say Durarara.

The idea is cute however we are supposed to be the transparent color gang, if we gain color we lose our unique signature.

Really, it's up to you whether you want people to know if you're a Dollar or if you want to take the "colorless" approach. They're both fine. If you want to show off your Dollar status, here's a list of Dollar's merch.

I doubt there ever will be any dollars merchandise as the creator of the website hasn't been active for a good while and the purpose of the website wasn't to create merchandise it was for people to gather and make friends and discuss topics. Also the dollars are colour less that is the whole purpose of the dollars creating merchandise would only defeat the purpose.

If you'll all remember, That One Guy On The Roof Everyday (in the show) said it like this:They don't go out of their way to advertise it, but if you ask, they'll probably admit it. We aren't as well known, but if someone seems like they would know about it/fit in, shouldn't you just ask instead of relying on merchandise? If they don't know, you can just tell them about it. If they do, you met another in your daily lives by pure chance. By the time you ask, you probably know them well enough to get along either way. I could be totally wrong, though.

I have a few comments about this. I think the idea of merchandise is interesting, but I think there are a few flaws. As Dollars, isn't out whole purpose to be invisible and colorless? If the merchandise was something small that could be overlooked easily by outsiders then fine. But the thing is, we need an item that exists only to Dollars members. Otherwise we could be viewed just as DRRR fanboys and fangirls. Not saying that's a bad thing, it's just I'd like to know who is a Dollar, and who is just a regular fan.

Wait, I just had an idea! I honestly think the Dollars should be invisible, but if there was a symbol only we could understand, I think that it would be cool if we could get some sort of merchandise! If we were to make a rubber wristband with the circle of the dollars, but without the text we could wear those to symbolize that we are Dollars to other members that we see!

I realized that if we were to make merchandise but still remain generally invisible, it needed to be a design that could be recognized by Dollars members only. If we were to use the Dollars logo itself, we would be called out by fans of DRRR rather than just Dollars members. So I did my best to make something familiar yet different. Maybe we could make these into some sort of bracelets? This design is based off of the Dollars logo, but unless you are a member of this sight, this could only be seen as a neat design, or somewhat remind you of DRRR.

Ok, I'm trying to explain what is going on in my head. I actually agree with you >>197. I actually like the ideas that the poll suggests, it's just that I recognize a flaw there. Randomly asking people you think are the Dollars things like on the poll, and finding out they have no clue as to what you are talking about will draw more attention than we want. What I propose is that we wear the symbol I designed as some sort of patch, bracelet... etc., something indiscreet but still noticeable if you know what to look for. If we see someone with the symbol, it's more likely that they are a Dollar, and we don't have to go through as much effort to find Dollars in our area. Then to confirm that they are in fact, a member, we do something that was suggested in the poll like asking what color a dollar is or a salute, depending on what wins. It's optional to actually have the symbol, it's just if you want to be noticed by other Dollars irl without having to go around asking strangers if they are or aren't Dollars. It's like a 2 step thing when it comes to finding a Dollar this way. Step 1, see if they have the symbol... Step 2, ask question or whatever to confirm.

I don't really know if what I just said makes sense, but I tried my best. If anyone actually understand, I am perfectly okay if you disagree or have a better idea. I'm just trying to put my opinions out there.

i think this idea is really smart but it will be extremely hard to identify ourselves but someone suggested to me earlier that we have necklaces that we can hide under our shirts with a design so we can hide it if wanted and show it for others to find. anyone from DRRR can wear merch but wearing this symbol youve designed along with a salute or phrase can differentiate us as active member of dollars

In the anime some members of the dollars went out in public and announced that they were members. Wearing the symbol, that we come up with, can be kind of like that, only your announcement to other dollar members who actually know what the sign means. Maybe we could even make up a password like in the pole, Kieru Kasuko made. But we only say it to people with the logo on. I liked the "What color is a dollar?" one.

I don't think us being a colorless gang is really the pride of the group. If anything, for those who care, the pride is actually doing something for the community. But that is just how I see it. While we are based off the anime Durarara, in many ways we aren't alike. And in my own opinion, that is okay. I don't think us having some way to identify members from the crowd will ruin us for those who would still like to remain anonymous and colorless.

If anything, it would improve us. But that is just what I think about it.

With the idea of merch there should be like a point system like by doing missions or something and you just get points for fun or something like a game idk just sounds cool.

You could always go to a website like Zazzle.com and simply make a t-shirt? You could choose a black shirt, edit it to have white letters saying something like: "The Dollars of Ikebukuro" or whatever you prefer. That should get your point across. I'm pretty sure you can make shirts, mugs, buttons, all on your own using websites like the one mentioned about to achieve your goal. But, if you were talking about this website having merchandise to make dollars for the Dollars, I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you.
