First off, a little background. I've been seeing people making "Favorite ___ Anime" threads or "Favorite ____ Manga" threads even though the boards now can house all cartoons or all comics, respectively.

So, my idea is that, when we see another thread like those examples above, we... I dunno, tell them to make an all encompassing thread or something. I dunno. It mostly irks me, but then there's the fact that we're gonna still seem like a bunch of weeaboo punks, even with the board name change.

We changed the board names, but haven't changed the content in them, is all I'm saying.

Although, Comics board is doing fairly better than Animation board, with a new thread asking Favorite Comics, Manga, or Graphic Novel, which is a damn huge improvement.

Still has litters of other "favorite ___ manga" threads. I think.

I see where you're coming from. But wouldn't that just cause more clutter on the board? There's not too many of those threads that are being bumped up right now, so I think we'll be fine. If it does get to be a problem where they keep appearing on the main page, then yeah, we should get them to make a different thread and have the old one be saged or just plain closed. For now though, it's not too bad.

Well, like I said, Comics is doing much much better than Animation. Looking at the Animation board, ignoring the saged threads, we have... Horror Anime recommendations, Anime recommendations thread, favorite anime thread, and that's it, if you're ignoring those three currently saged threads and just continuing the count, and etc.

Three threads. Which I guess isn't much of a problem. But yeah.

And I don't see how it's gonna create clutter if we're just gonna kill the old thread in favor of an all encompassing thread.

There are more specifically anime threads that are farther down, but I don't think a majority of them will ever resurface. For some reason I thought there were more ongoing ones in Animation, but oh well.

If there's only three threads, we can probably just leave it alone for now in the Animation board. Unless the other ones come back, or there's randomly a surge in threads that are just about animes.

If they are really bugging you though, I suppose we could post on those threads that the subject can now include all animation. Saging threads that have 200+ posts in them already would just be a waste. But for say, the Horror Anime recommendations we can just get the OP to make a different thread seeing as it only has 12 posts.

Not quite sure what you're getting at, insert. Can you clarify?

Do you mean, the "favorite ____" threads in general should be wiped out, or just the "favorte anime/manga" threads? If it's the latter, it pains me to say that they are technically legitimate. They are forms of animation/comics, and making a thread for those is just like making a "favorite [music genre] song/artist" thread in the Music board. Unless you're also saying that things like those should be taken care of.

Favorite-Anything threads are going to crop up regardless, and it's hard to make a rule against it that won't just sound needlessly restrictive. I don't really care for them either, preferring threads that actually discuss things instead of listing shit, but it's not something that can be really spoken against just because we don't like it.

Although, if we do come to some sort of consensus on this (which would require more people looking at this topic and discussing it), those threads don't necessarily have to go to waste. We could treat those threads like post-capped threads, and just link back to them for reference. If people keep bumping them even after the consolidated one, we could ask for it to be closed, but not saged - that way its content won't be lost.

And I meant the favorite anime/manga threads. But yeah, I like post 8's idea, treat the old threads as post capped.

And there's a thread on Comics that I saw (http://dollars-bbs.org/comics/res/1330473876.html), which made me think of this idea. So should we get a mod to close the other thread (http://dollars-bbs.org/comics/res/1277109058.html)?

But yeah, I'm in favor for the closing of the not consolidated one idea thingamajig.

I'm thinking we should either leave the ones that have a lot of posts in them alone, or as Misuto said, link back to them and have them be closed. There's not a point in wasting those threads.

Though technically the threads have a place in those boards, I'm sure people have an opinion or recommendation for a thread that isn't an anime. And I would prefer if there wasn't multiple "recommendation" or "favorite" threads just because the original one was only looking for animes. Technically they can do that, I just don't prefer it. There would be maybe 10-20 posts on the new thread that could have just been lumped in with the other one.
