I'm probably not the only one getting tired of threads in anime/literature/manga/music/film/games that quite literally equate to an image of the thread topic and some variation of the sentence "I like this, who has seen/heard it?"

The suggestion is thus - What if threads had a minimum character count before you could make them? Falling under the threshold would result in a message saying something along the lines of "That's kind of lazy, try adding more information to your thread."

As an aside note, the same general concept could be added to posts - Your posts must have X amount of characters in them before they can be submitted. I think this idea is a bit less applicable due to the fact that some posts really don't merit the use of more than a few words - But it's something to think about.

Sounds interesting and doable, but I know jack about code so I should shut my mouth about that. The only potential problem I can see is people then spouting out more drivel in a stream of consciousness manner to simply get enough characters out to beat the restriction. Kind of like diarrhea with how there will be words everywhere and quality of posts will still be shit. Kind of like this post - words, words everywhere but no legible thought in easy sight. At least I'm using punctuation to make it easier though.

I'd agree with this, but I think only for the thread part. Applying it to posts would basically kill a lot of opportunities for jokes and such.

But I don't know if enforcing this is the best thing to do. I mean, I'd usually go for educating people instead of forcing them to do something, because they may react negatively to the forcing part. Then again educating is forever doomed to fail here, so yeah maybe this is a good idea.

When i want to post something that only requires a few characters but theres a min char count i just type the response and hold the space key for like a minute XD

The above repost was done for clarity, in case any details were left out of this brief explanation in which I referenced the original post of this thread regarding the suggestion of implementing a minimum character limit to individual posts with the purpose of eliciting content of a quality higher than a given threshold that is set as a standard for the community - which is to say, the internet web page, Dollars-BBS.

But perhaps one could rephrase this in a slightly more detailed manner, for I fear I have not gone into detail enough.

Has this yet been emailed to Reltair? If not, I've seen something similar implemented on other forums. The character minimum for posts is usually either 5 or 10, and is defeated by typing "/5char" or "/10char" after making a brief, usually snide one-word comment. So there is already a common method to making short posts when necessary, and it keeps light spam at bay I suppose.

I am in definite agreement with having a minimum for new threads though. Dear lord that would deal with so many poor threads T_T

I have another idea what if in this dollars site(the one we are on right now) we create a link that leads to another dollars site where to get into it we have another password and that site is strictly for dollars member who are serious about what the dollars stand for and want to help out in their community and come together to try to make this world better.

Also when that site is up we still keep this site active so people who enjoy this site can continue to meet the friends they made here and everything they enjoy about this site. Also any of the serious dollars members can at any time come back to this site just for fun or a quick change of scenery. For example me i like anime and all the other things this site currently has as well as helping any people with problems (which i have seen on this site a couple of times) all of that stuff i can get from this site, but i also like helping the community and am serious about the dollars.

If we do what i am suggesting i honestly believe this will solve many of our problems and at the same time everyone is happy (at least for the most part). It will also be a way to distinguish who is serious about this and who is not. I have more ideas about how this might work but first who agrees with this suggestion and to the people who are currently managing this site(if there are any still) what do you think? Is this possible and even a good idea?

I don't see how it has anything to do with this topic, and I know of quite a few who wouldn't want random, fan filled sites to be linked to us, and us, to them. I don't see how it does anything good to help us.

The Dollar's main cause is to show people that the world isn't as bad as it seems and I agree if someone posts a picture they should at least say something but if you want to complain go to the chat rooms.
