Has anyone wondered why research papers had a 2 column format? I don't, but a few years ago I read Asimov's Nightfall short story through pdf on my phone and it was formatted with 2 columns.

Just now, I'm looking for short stories pdfs and found myself hating on most of them being formatted as prints in mind with only 1 column. The texts are so small you'd need to zoom in to read, but the lines are so long that you'd always need to scroll right and left, which is awful.

2 column format solved this problem, because the lines are shorter so it fits on phone screens and it doesn't ruin the looks when printed either.

More pdfs need to apply 2 column format, needs to be the standsrd notm istg.

Oh look, a good thread from old times! Anyone wants to do a checklist on their progress? Might be cool to start something since its still early in the year.

1. Finish one of my literary piece (they have all been in development hell for too long).
2. Create a video that has substantive research under it (i research lots of stuff, hasnt gathered enough in any subject to warrant a video though).
3. Fix my GPA (right now its on 2.0 out of 4.0 and I'm at the end of my 5th semester).
4. Make substantial progress on developing my ppt game.
5. Restore my bedroom to its former glory (it has been untidy for months and will stay that way for many more to come).
6. Meet Dollars member from RTT and eat McD fries together.
7. Find new circle of friends on my new classes while fixing my GPA (my old homies are about to graduate).
8. Reconnect with old friends from middle school.
9. Visit my old high school with a few achievements on my belt, despite the freefalling GPAs.
10. Go on trips with my friends, simply for the fun of it. (It used to always be for theatre club's errand)

Some tall orders I set for myself, I think. Also someone irl challenged me to make a goal for myself to aim for this year, and it cant be anything related to the theatre club, so it was pretty hard to come up with half of these things.

I'm glad I did not see this thread years ago because my list wouldn't been either really depressing or really cringe. Or both. Such is the way of being a teenager, it's inevitable.

Now that I have not been a teenager for a while, here's a list:

1. Buy a house
2. Japan trip with the friend group
3. Travel to different countries in general, but Japan is a must
4. Have a fully functioning app published on an app store made solely by me
5. Design and make a full outfit, including accessories
6. Start selling stickers and prints
7. Be recognized for my teaching in some capacity
8. Find a semi-precious stone in nature
9. Ride a ferris wheel with a partner
10. Figure out how to manage my fucking hair

There's a folklore surrounding The Blue Mosque's construction which was that, when the Sultan ordered it to be built, he asked the architect for "altın minareler" (gold minarets). The architect, however, as the folklore describes, misheard his request to be "altı minare" (six minarets). A then unique feature only belonging to the mosque that housed Ka'aba in Mecca.
