How do you cheer up people? (2)

My significant other has been pretty down lately and I've been thinking what I could do to make them feel better. We're temporarily in a LDR due to their job. So things like cuddling, movies and such are not a possibility right now, unfortunately. Do you guys have any idea what I could do to cheer them up?

This is corny, but letters from my friends really cheer me up. Every year on my best friends' birthdays, I give them money and a long, handwritten note (mostly because I suck at choosing gifts, but whatver). Which is why I usually get the same from them on my birthdays. I've saved them all over the years, and go through them when I miss them or I'm having a hard time. It's suprising how much just reading them cheers me up.

So yeah, hopefully it wouldn't take too long, but you could mail your s/o some kind words. Maybe not even related to what's got them feelign down– I usually just reflect on what they've done for me & what I like about them, or reminisce on some shared memory, or tell a story they haven't heard yet, or all off those things. And maybe, budget affording, send some candy or something with it. Or pressed flowers would be sweet! (You can literally just stick em in the pages of a book and leave them there for a few days with a weight on them. There'll be moisture though so if you do this then make sure it's a book you don't mind damaging.) Or something of sentimental value. I know you could just text them your thoughts, but there's something about getting a physical handwritten card/letter that's really meaningful to me. Idk.

Idk if this is your guys' sort of thing, but I used to make vine compilations for my friends since they hadn't seen that many. Ones that I specifically thought they would like, or ones that I could label like "this person's you, that one's me" etc etc. Again it's corny, I know, but it helps keep the friendships thriving even though we're LD lmao. Also, fanwork (even shitty ones / especially shitty ones, because sometimes that's just funnier), if you're able and that's something they'd be happy to receive.

Also, I don't know how well Kast works, but it lets you watch movies together with someone at another location.

Hope things start looking up for you & your s/o soon xx
