My problem (7)

1 Name: Steelheart : 2017-01-30 22:17 ID:+Yu1PtKb [Del]

I know what my problem is. I know why I can't find the courage(?) to go talk to a girl or anyone really, why I can't find the motivation to study for my university classes and end up failing on all of them, why all day long I don't do anything and most of the time I won't leave the home for 1-2 weeks unless I have to. I just can't see the point. I mean seriously I just can't understand why is everything so infinitely complex in the human life when there is absolutely no point and no meaning behind it and in the end nothing makes a difference? I feel that love or God or friendship, they are but distractions from that unbearable truth. So if this is how things really are, why try to be better, why care for anything, why strive for anything, when in reality it just doesn't matter?

Before I can give you a proper answer of my personal opinion, I'm a bit curious. What do you mean by the 'unbearable truth' and what do you mean by nothing makes a difference? For example, if you cheer someone up from being sad to happy, that's a difference, right?

I don't think so. At least I don't feel that way, even after cheering someone.By "truth" I meant our action simply have no meaning in the end. I know it's a stupid way to think but I can't help but feel this way.

And that is why philosophy is awesome! You are speaking like an existentialist. Since I joined the Dollars I have avouded that philosophy. Just make your life exciting!

I don't know if this helps but I always compare it with snow. Let’s say snow is time or our environment, which never stops moving forward and is changing constantly. If you do things different then the mass you leave your own trail in the snow. By going through difficult times you sometimes stuck, like in a snowstorm, and you try to move forward through the cold storm. By doing that your prints in the snow are getting way deeper than those who just follow the mass and don't give their life an own goal, since there is already a trail from many other people. But in the end, if you moved forward, you can look back and see that you actually left something behind. Showed that things can be done differently and another path can be chosen. Maybe one or two people are being inspired by seeing your footprints and think about more options like "that dude did it this way, interesting.” Actions, sometimes even words, can make a difference. Most people might forget words, but not how those made them feel. Anyway… back to the metaphor. Now that snow is always falling (the earth keeps spinning, remember?) and your footprints will disappear one day, that is certain, but maybe some people got inspired by the ones you left behind so they find their own. Then later some get inspired by those prints and so on. So everyone leaves footsteps, but the one who dare to be different leave some that might trigger something in other people, even it is something little like being more friendly or even something bigger, like standing up for yourself. I believe life has a meaning if you dare to questions things, do things that have to be done, even if they aren’t easy, and following your goals, even if you hit rock bottom before. Everyone influence his surrounding, passive or active. Life is meaningful if you dare to give it meaning.

That metaphor reminds of that story my basketball coach told about a old man taking his grandchildren to a place where he stacked rocks for long time. Then as the years passed the grandchildren noticed the stack of rocks became a mountain of rocks. In summary it was about building a foundation/legacy. Pretty awesome!
