If this thread already exists somewhere else, please sage. I checked the last 500 or so threads and couldn't find anything like it.
This is for those Dollars who either A) Play guitar, B) Admire excellent instrument craftsmanship, or C) Both of these.
What is your favorite guitar? It could be as general as a design or it could be a specific model. Feel free to also talk about personal preferences of design elements (i.e. set neck or bolt-on, scaling of the neck, types of pickups, etc.)

I'll start with a general design, the Gibson Firebird.

Aside from being a blink-182 fan i just love how clean and stripped down this guitar is, a strat with a rosewood neck, classic headstock, pearloid pickguard, one volume knob and one loud humbucker. I was lucky enough to pick one of these up recently online for what was in my eyes almost theft on my part, and i couldnt be any happier with it

Just realized I forgot to mention specifically, it's the Tom Delonge signature strat

>>3 Holy shit, someone responded! I was getting a bit concerned there.
The humbucker looks like a Seymour Duncan SH-8 Invader, based on the black magnet poles. That's a killer pickup (can't remember if it's ceramic or alnico, though...).
Tell me, whatcha think of Delonge's Epiphone signature?

I don't think I've ever even held a real guitar, but I got to see this one live and in action. The designer was running into some issues, so my old boss taught him how to fix the issues in it to get it working.

Oh, I should probably mention that it's a 3D printed guitar, and that all those gears really do move.

I've never had a chance to play his epiphone signature model but I really like the way that it looks and one of these days I'd like to own a hollow body electric

>>6 Interesting. Wonder what tonal qualities this thing has.
For aesthetic alone, it's pretty cool.
>>7 Same here. I've had a design in my head for at least a year now, but I'm no luthier.

I'm not particularly focused on being a guitarist, and I'm not particularly interested in guitar gear either. But it's still pretty nice to see that this thread's catching on.

>>9 Yeah, I'm glad, too.
What do you play, anyhow? I've unfortunately yet to check your stuff out. :/

>>10 Drums. I thought myself something of a multi-instrumentalist for a while, but since my band started playing shows I've been focusing almost exclusively on my drumming.

You were in a metalcore band or something, right?

^oh, nvm. I was thinking of Findmuck. I get you two confused sometimes.

13 Name: Enigami !c6PjAO5Kw. : 2016-11-30 06:33 ID:SB5kEQpQ [Del]

>>12 ... How?
And hey, I'm primarily a drummer, too! I started with guitar, though, I'm still only passable as a rhythm guitarist. I'm much better at drumming, though I'd wager you're better than I am.

>>13 I doubt it. While I suppose I have been playing for a while, I've really only been focusing on improving for the last 3 or 4 months. I was pretty good when I was 14 and was practicing everyday, but at some point I stopped and there were huge gaps during which I barely touched my kit.

Still, at this point I've almost gotten all my chops back, and I'm grooving like I haven't been able to in ages. Feels great haha

I don't really know why I confuse you guys. I have it with a few pairs of members, really.

>>14 It's been pretty much the same for me. It doesn't help that I haven't had a functioning hi-hat stand in forever. The chain has been limp for too long, and I keep telling myself I'll get a new standard, then never do, cuz money's tight.
What kit do you use?

>>15 Old Tama Rockstar kit. Got it secondhand about 6 years ago. I haven't been particularly good about keeping it in great conditipn, but it's lasted nonetheless. I recently tuned it and it still sounds really good. Could use some new heads, but can't right now coz expensive.

Zildjian Planet Z cymbals. The ones I got with the kit were absolutely shit and these were the best I could afford. They're a bit clangy, but otherwise sound okay. My guitarist friend got a pair of ZBT's for his drum kit, and I've convinced him to trade them for my Planet Z's, minus the ride. I also have a Zildjian S 18" China, which I got recently and love.

I recently got a pretty sturdy new Meinl hi-hat stand for about $90 AUD. It's not perfect - the cymbals weigh down on it a fair bit - but it's still a huge upgrade from the generic one I had for years. I'd say buy one when you have the money, it makes a noticeable difference. For example, I was finally able to go at it with the hi-hat foot pedal without the stand getting away from me, and now I have almost total left foot independence.

What kit do you use?

>>16 A secondhand Mapex kit. I wanna say it's model name is after a planet, but I can't remember the specific name anymore. I have a very simple set up, cymbal-wise. A Meinl crasher idea with Meinl hi-hat. This set is honestly pretty shitty, because even with tuning, the toms just sound too echo-y. I need to dampen them, and stuff pillows into the bass drum, just to get something close to the nice staccato hits I'm looking for. I think the hi-hat stand is a Yamaha. But, for $300 (excluding cymbals; forgot how much they cost), this set's not bad.

*crash-ride. Damn you, auto correct!

Not that I play, but I love the Rickenbacker 330 - looks aside, I'm just a sucker for the clean tone that Rickenbacker pickups can produce.

But purely on looks - I'd prefer (and am a complete sucker for) white Stratocasters with a maple neck and tortoiseshell pickguard. The white-on-red just looks great to me, and I've always been annoyed by fretboards and headstocks being of different (unpainted) woods.
