outside Japanese-language music (was that also a piece of criteria for your post? Worded it kind of oddly), Sigur Rós is easily my favorite foreign-language band. About half their songs are in Icelandic, the other half in gibberish or instrumental.

I also dig Devianz and Noir Désir, both French. The former is more grungy with a great indie rock/post-hardcore blend, the latter more straightforward rock 'n roll with some experimental tendencies later in their career.

And I have a soft spot for Satellites LV who sing in their native Latvian. I don't even remember where I found them, but they've got great catchy pop shit.

If Japan can be included, the cabs, Maximum The Hormone, Ling Tosite Sigure, and Cyclamen/Withyouathome are all fantastic with memorable and unique vocal lines and styles.

I would suggest Mammut and Sigur Ros which are two of my favorite Icelandic bands. For Mammut I would recommend the songs Bakkus, Blóðberg, and Rauðilækur. For Sigur ros I would suggest saeglopur and hoppipolla.

Besides that I listen to a Taiwanese band called Mayday. For Mayday I would recommend shang xin de ren bie ting man ge.

You could also try One Ok Rock which is a j-rock band. For One ok rock I would recommend the songs kanzen kankaku dreamer and re:make.

I thought of another one.
Killers, the french band. It's pretty hard to find their songs on youtube though, but you can always listen to them live. My favorite songs are "Rosalind" and "Killers".

Why don't you try K-pop songs? Some of the K-pop artists actually debuted at Japan before they went to Korea. So some songs may catch your interest. (*^﹏^*)

Akiko Shikata~ \o/
She's Jap but some of her songs are in Italian.
I can't exactly tell the genre of her music..?
It's choir-ish, and has a folk/ethnic feel to it.

Give her a shot and tell me what you think, maybe?
