This generation. (14)

As a 13 year old, I might just hate my own generation, at least the music taste.
It's kinda sad that you class likes to blast Jason Derulo on full volume, and half of them haven't even heard of Queen. Hell, one girl wears a Pink Floyd T-Shirt, not even knowing that it's a band.
So here I am listening to Gorillaz, because that's good music.
Although I'm not saying that there's not any good music out today, it's just my generation seems to like the bad tracks more. There are exceptions of course.
So what do you think?

All music is good music. Listening to rock music won't make you a superior human being. Just do your thing and don't be bothered by little things like other people's music taste.

Mainstream music always sucked, but it seems that today's mainstream music is even worse than its ancestors xD
Like >>2 said , don't mind them and keep on listening to your music.

Well, you can´t expect young people to know old music. The thing is most people just listen to the music that´s popular. They don´t think about looking up different kind of music. They have their mainstream music and that´s all they want. I think that´s ok.
But yeah it´s really sad seing them listening to their mainstream music and thinking it´s great before they ever hear any Queen, Iron Maiden or whatever. But that´s ok, you can´t expect everyone to know about the last 40 years of music history.
They should just accept that not everyone likes their shitty mainstream music.

Funny experience related to this:
On some friends 18th birthday party some other friend took care of the music. He only played mainstream music obviosly. Mood was kinda not good. He left early luckfully so the guy who had birthday, me and someone else started playing some metal and everyone went crazy because they likes it lol It was so awesome. Fuck stupid party music you can party to other music as well.

i hope that i´ll get to see you all at facebook^^

Same here. No one knows anything at my school. Sure they might have heard of the name, but they think the music sucks when they haven't heard any of it at all. People want to listen to what everyone else likes, so whatever the people put on the radio is what sells. There are radios that have old music, but kids just think, "Eww, that's like what my parents listen to" so they never try anything different. They don't want to go into a new territory, because if they like it, they might tell their friends who won't like it and that will make them "uncool".

I saw a guy wore a Capital Cities t-shirt and I asked him what was his favorite song by them and he had no idea that Capital Cities was even a music group.

I don't like saying that a piece of music is "bad" (personally, I prefer to say "meh" or "so-so" instead), but the mainstream media does seem to have a tendency to hype songs/musicians that frankly don't need it.

Off topic: The thing that bothers me most about >>1 is not that your classmates might have terrible musical taste; it's that your generation seems to be ignorant of a whole lot of things despite having the internet at your fingertips. It's fine if you kids don't like listening to the songs your parents like, but if you seriously want to make a statement at least have the decency/common sense to do some research so you know what you're rebelling against. No offense intended; I myself tend to be ignorant on a lot of things (e.g. Gorillaz).

This thread is shit.

Yeah, I find most of them don't even listen to wall noise or throat singing.

Too bad we can't have more elites in our generation. It's getting lonely up here on my horse.

It sucks that no one likes the kind of music I'm into to, everyone's ignorant and uncultured :((

don't really appreciate this thread.

there's nothing wrong with liking mainstream music. it does not make a person any less smart than you. it's fine if you don't like it - but other people do. because someone might be saying the same thing about your music.

point is; yes i like rock music and metal. but i'm not going to act superior because of it.

"ugh I hate people who listen to entry-level pop because they don't listen to entry-level classic and prog rock ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

oh, is that not what OP said? Sorry, couldn't really tell the difference.

Get over yourself, OP.
