Winter Music (9)

I have a, sadly, very small collection of songs for this winter. I was wondering if I could get recommendations for any good winter (not necessarily holiday themed) music? One of the few good winter songs I know is Horchata by Vampire Weekend, if that gives an idea for what a winter song is.

Go listen to some Grimes. Grimes seems like the prefect mood setter for the winter season, especially while it's snowing.

I happened to compile this lil' list just a while ago. There's some variation in genres here, just sample some stuff til you find something you like.

It's based for fall and winter since around here the two seasons kind of blend into one, but the first half or so of the list is more fall-y, and the latter half more wintery imo.

Hope you find something you like. /o/

>>3 Read a few of your reviews, The Hybrid Theory EP one was pretty awesome. Made me feel like goin' back there again. :)

>>1 Here's a bunch of music that I like listening to during winter.

OK Computer by Radiohead. Has kind of a cold, detached feel to it. Probably the most accessible of all these.

All Shall Fall by Immortal also comes to mind, but if you can't black metal, then I doubt you'll enjoy it much. Very winter, though.

Infinite Visions by Stratovarius is probably my favourite power metal album, but most music in the genre will do. Happier winter music.

Awake by Dream Theater. Also any of Kevin Moore's music, be it Chroma Key, OSI, or whatever. That man is the king of cold music, even when he's trying to sound happy.

Oh dear lord, all those reviews are from when I was like 13 and I feel most, if not all, of them are awful.
I've been wanting to make a really good review for Sput again but I feel like if I still fail at this age, I have no excuse, and it'd crash what little reputation I have over there. Everyone forgot about the super sucky 13-year-old that was me, and making a good review would still link everyone to my old bad ones (which you unfortunately can't delete after they've been posted).

But soon, someday, I'll get back on that horse. /o/

Ah, thank you both! I had a chance to listen to some of the songs and I'm very pleased with the results. I'll be sure to listen to all of them all the way through when I get home!

hmm, not exactly 'winter' music, but these always give me a wintery feel?

frosti by bjork
going somewhere by abel korzeniowski
waltz for gerda by michele de wilton
arrival of the birds by cinematic orchestra

This is going to sound really weird, but that one Pillows record Kool Spice (the one that sounds really out of place in their discography) oddly sounds reeeeally good in winter. Mayhaps because it kind of sound like the stuff you expect to hear on the radio during this season.

Example

...and I mean, if you don't dig the rest of the record there's always Naked Shuffle.
