The Needle Drop is a music b/vlog by the self-proclaimed "internet's busiest music nerd" Anthony Fantano. Quoted from his website, "Anthony Fantano is a musician, vegan, troublemaker, health nut, radio host, and b/vlogger from the great state of Connecticut. Music is his passion. Forever. And he’s built that passion into a YouTube channel with thousands of subscribers and a weekly radio show that airs in Connecticut, Colorado, Montana, Minnesota, New Mexico, and Idaho. He calls his followers “needle drops” and owns way too many albums. His ultimate goal is to grow The Needle Drop into one of the most reputable music reviewing outlets on the internet, and he’s making a conscious effort to stop biting his nails."

Mr. Fantano's opinions are at times controversial, especially if he reviews something by an artist with a jerkriding fanbase, though his thoughts stand out among his peers because regardless on whether or not you agree with him, he voices his opinions very well, and has a vast and expansive knowledge of music from many genres to back up his points. He consistently puts out reviews or discussion videos (many of them a week, really), and they're all top-notch quality. He also frequently edits his videos with slight cuts or effects, adding to the "needle drop" motif. Towards the end of his reviews, he tends to rate the album in question on a scale of 1 to 10, in addition to giving it a sub-rating, such as "light," "strong," or "decent."

He also spoofs the taste of others (all in good fun,) by drawing a mustache on himself with Sharpie, putting on a sweater, and speaking in an unintelligent demeanor, making the full transformation to Cal Chuchesta. He then edits the videos in masterful fashion so he can talk to Cal (a.k.a. himself) It's absolutely hilarious.

So yeah, I suggest you check this guy out. He's a fair reviewer and can turn you on (or respectfully off) to a lot of music. His websites are linked below:

What a pretentious mustache.

This guy got me, a once avid metalhead elitist, to change my opinion on hip hop, as well as turning me onto a bunch of other awesome music that I probably wouldn't have considered listening to before. And that is saying something.

Basically, he's awesome.

Daaaamnn. He just did a review on Sunn O)))'s terrestrials.
They're pretty damn awesome.

my pull on the Dollars FB page was big enough to convince Yukio to change the cover photo to a compilation of Cal Chuchesta fanart.

long live cal /o/

>>15 LOL. He also did a review of Coldplay's new album. Is that why(the release) you were listening to it the other day?

I didn't know he had put one out for it yet at the time. A buddy of mine at school knew I thought Coldplay's debut Parachutes was decent and mentioned that Ghost Stories was a departure away from really shrill electronics and into a more reverberated sound.

I'm not sure how much I'd agree with his statement, but it was enough to get me to check it out.

Been a while.

Binging YUNOREVIEW videos - was mildly butthurt when the guy described Chon's album as "soulless noodling." Made me realise our tastes in music are waaaaaay more different than I would have thought based on his main reviews. Will probably still watch religiously.

Also, second channel is fucking gold.

I probably watch more Thatistheplan than the main channel at this point

I would say there's something wrong with that, but considering I love his actual critique even when I disagree with him, I suppose it's only natural that I love his satirical critique of things I feel the same about even more lol

>>22 Same here, I think he's somewhat funny in his satire persona - meme review has been a laugh and his video on trap music was brilliant (and Robin Thickes failed album release sales)
