I liked it better when he was Forever Pandering, ranting about how foolish people on the Internet were.He got scared off by the fact that he would have a bad reputation as a ranter and quit.Not to mention, his British accent was done very well.

Correction. He wasn't scared off, he simply didn't want to do it anymore. It wasn't worth it when most of his feedback was simply hate - he never wanted to be known for his strong opinions in the first place. He said himself that the whole ranting thing was an experiment into something that wasn't his comfort zone.
He started out as a musician, and he left his old channel as a musician. I think it's the respectful decision to let that be.
Because he's a great musician in his own right. I particularly liked I Wish There Were Still Dinosaurs, and Touch Fluffy Tail. I do wish I actually got more of the references he makes, though - his songs are typically made for a particular show or game.
He was also the source of Swagica. Bonus points for that.

I'm genuinely curious about Dia's point of view though, because it's always sort of bothered me. A guy decided to do something else with his life, and everyone who once lauded him for his well-worded opinions suddenly think he's pussing out because he decided to stop voicing them.
It's not like he was a figurehead, or a public speaker - it was never actually his job to do what he did, he just kind of felt like doing it. And he realized the shit that emerges from his viewers isn't worth his time.
But let's say "just wanting to do something else" wasn't his reason, fine. You know what a more likely reason than "he's afraid to voice himself" is? He decided his watchers didn't deserve to hear him.
There comes a point in one's popularity when praise becomes blind and hate becomes even blinder, and it just spawns a bandwagon of shitflinging that can only be stopped at the source - and he simply didn't give a damn about "pandering" to that kind of audience any longer. It was really obvious in the sort of feedback he was getting in the weeks before he shut down his channel - nobody would want to put up with that shit.
He didn't give a shit about the dissent. What could voicing an opinion on the internet do besides incite a shitstorm that doesn't actually affect you any further than your monitor? He just didn't give a shit, period. And it's largely the fault of your kind of mindset.
