I have to write a paper about sampling music and decide if Im for or against it. Sampling Music is when artist take music from other songs and put it in there own work. I hardly listen to music so if you guys have some good point on for or against sampling music that I can use as points for my paper it would be greatly appreciated.

Idk if this shoul be here it seems out of place. As for your question: At the end of the day it's about permission. If you don't ask don't do it. Thats just respect. I have mixed feelings about sampling. If it's in a community like ccmixter and credit is readily given then it's great. I don't like hearing a great electronica/techno song sampled and used by a pop artist usually. Why? Because nobody knows the original song and aren't aware it's a sample. Due credit is not given. If it was, more people who like that kanye song would be aware of daft punk. More recently (I don't know the rapper who sampled this) Le7els by aviccii. Not to mention the sampled pieces are almost always better imo.

Sampling isn't a problem with me as long as the original artist is credited and okay with it. Keep in mind sampling comes in a variety of forms, and not all sampling involves that of other music. Audio snippets of politicians, movie quotes, or conversational murmuring have all made their way into music, and the result usually flows well.
