The Republic of Wolves is an indie rock band from Long Island. The band members are Mason Maggio, Christian Van Deurs, Gregg Andrew Dellarocca, and Billy Duprey. (Can't specifically say who plays what for all of them so I just won't bother. I can't find any info on it anywhere.) They formed just 4 years ago in 2009, and quickly gained an underground fanbase after their songs were accidentally leaked as Brand New's demos for their album "Daisy." It's easy to see why. The band definitely has a Brand New and Modest Mouse inspired sound, with aggressively dark and original lyrics, load crashing drums, and watery, echoed tones in vocals and guitars. There is definitely some nautical theming with this band.

Being a strange mix of folk rock, indie rock, alternative, and post-hardcore, the band's sound is very unique and their first two releases, an EP and their debut LP have a lot of replay value but were, for me, very difficult to get into. They play some local shows around Long Island, but haven't toured most of the country yet (to my knowledge), and a few music news sources have even titled them as "The Best Unsigned Band" out there. These guys definitely have potential, and they keep refining and improving their style with each release. If you're a fan of Brand New, check these guys out. You won't be disappointed.

and what is it with Long Island just pouring out musical talent?

Discography:
His Old Branches (EP) - 2009
Varuna (LP) - 2010
The Cartographer (EP) - 2011
In The House of Dust (Compilation of live songs, acoustic versions, demos, and B-Sides) - 2011

Enjoy these guys. It may take you a few listens for it to click, but it's totally worth it. The Cartographer is their most accessible release yet, I'd recommend that as a starting point.

-Also, hooray for my 20th thread on Music! Feels nice. /o/-

These guys have an album coming out next Tuesday which I'll most likely rave about cause these guys are awesome.

Also really sad (and surprised, cause I honestly didn't remember making it) that this thread never got any responses. Please, check this band out. I know a lot of you Music board guys will find this to be right up your alley. /o/

Eesh, forgot to update with the new album info and like.

No Matter How Narrow came out mid-December. It's way catchier and more well-produced than their earlier work. Stream it on their bandcamp.

"Stray(s)" might be the catchiest thing ever and "Vinedresser" and "Through Empty Vessels" strike the feels mighty hard.

>>3 I gave that a listen and enjoyed it. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I'll probably be listening to more Republic of Wolves after that, thanks.

Speaking of nautical themes, the name of their band as an acronym is ROW.
