A detailed thread a day keeps the derpthreads away.
Until they get bumped.

*sniff*

Anyways, Jimmy Eat World is a band formed in Mesa, Arizona in 1993. While their early sound was mainly that of punk rock, around the turn of the century they shifted their style towards alternative rock, emo, and power pop. Blasted into the mainstream after the infectious monster hit "The Middle" in 2001, Jimmy Eat World has a solid and large fanbase, and are quite good live performers.

Their major releases thus far are as follows:
Jimmy Eat World - 1994
Static Prevails - 1996
Clarity - 1999
Singles (of which none of the songs are, lol) - 2000
Bleed American (renamed Jimmy Eat World following 9/11) - 2001
Futures - 2004
Stay On My Side Tonight EP - 2005
Chase This Light - 2007
Clarity x1 Live - 2009
Invented - 2010

Jimmy Eat World is:
Jim Adkins - vocals, guitar
Tom Linton - guitar, vocals
Rick Burch - bass
Zach Lind - drums

For those of you wondering what a good starting place is, I recommend Clarity, which is my favorite album by them, and one of their most consistent, or Bleed American because chances are you've heard a few of the songs on it and not even known it. If you want their harder edge, go earlier into their discography, if you want their poppier edge, go later.

Jimmy Eats World is one reason why i still listen to main stream alternative. i remember getting Bleed american in 2006 and futures later that year. Amazing albums and awesome band!

Correction: "Clarity x10 Live - 2009," not "x1"

Not sure how I didn't catch that when I posted.
Oh well.

lol I actually haven't played it before.
They're just common bands, so it's no surprise to me they ended up on the same video game soundtrack.

The group just released the first song from their upcoming album Damage, due out June 11th.

Nothing crazy impressive but it's a good track. These guys sure know how to be consistent, I'll give em that. Hoping for something more substantial and filling when the album actually comes out though.

Till then I'll give this here thread a bumpitybump.

I remember the song "The Middle" from Guitar Hero, but other than that the band has never really stood out to me.
However, I have come to trust Yata's taste in music, so I might take a closer look at them.

Check out Clarity, that album is probably one of the most underrated alternative rock records of all time. Seems a little long at first but it grows on you and just never stops growing. The final track "Goodbye Sky Harbor" and its extended jam outro are beautiful.

Bump.

I'm interested in getting into this band, and I do like what I've heard, but whenever I'm trying to think about what to buy or download, they never really seem to spring to mind.

So, I guess this is just some kind of reminder for me.

As I kind of said in >>10, when you get around to it, I'd say start with Clarity, but if it doesn't click, Bleed American and Futures are more accessible and also considerably good. Their latest album Damage was really underwhelming. It's the easiest one to find in most stores at the moment, but I wouldn't bother with it.

JEW is embarking on a 10th anniversary tour for one of my favorite alt rock records ever Futures this fall.

and they aren't coming anywhere near the Lone Star state. Poor me.

However, if you live in CA, Denver, the Midwest or the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic, I highly suggest getting acquainted with that album (which they will play in its entirety and yes, that's including the almost-never-performed-live "Night Drive") and looking for tickets which are now on sale. You will not regret it.

Trust the (jealous) Yatabro.

I don't give them enough credit.
