Damnit, there's no Brand New thread either?

Mother of fuck, people. What threads DO we have on this board?

Okay, okay, so Brand New is an alternative rock band from Levittown, Long Island, New York. Formed in 2000, the band currently consists of vocalist/guitarist/lyricist Jesse Lacey, guitarist/vocalist/lyricist Vincent Accardi, bassist Garrett Tierney, drummer Brian Lane, and as of late, guitarist/keyboardist Derrick Sherman.

Brand New's 4 albums are all considered classics by both underground critics and fans alike. Your Favorite Weapon, released in 2001 as their debut, is an underrated gem in the shitty pop punk genre. Their follow up two years later, Deja Entendu was a stylistic departure from their pop punk towards alternative and indie, and showed much more mature songwriting. The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me, released in 2006, is considered their true magnum opus, and was put on NME and SputnikMusic's "Best Albums of the Decade" lists, among others. Their latest album, which was released in 2009, Daisy marked another genre shift, blending raw post-hardcore, emo, and country(?) experimental elements into the band's sound and making for a dark and abrasive record.

Brand New's main lyricist Jesse Lacey is also widely considered to be one of the most underrated and best lyricists of the past decade. One only has to look to Deja and The Devil and God to see what I'm talking about. The rest of the band is solid and spot on with their sound and further convey each song's message, whether it be a contemplative piece about the end of relationship or choking and drowning babies.

Yeah.
Er....

It's hard to make the better thread when I forget I'm trying, okay?

Anyways, Brand New is an essential listen for everyone, I can guarantee you'll like at least something this band has to offer.
Not to mention "Limousine" is like, one of the best songs ever. Ya dig?

Check em out, bitches.

Yata, you're a hipster, listening to bands no one else is listening to.

*no one else is listening to/or even heard of. Because I've never heard of these guys. But then again, I listen to the weeaboo nihon desu desu musics. And jazz. Good ol' jazz.

"-Yata, you're a hipster"
I won't deny this.

"-listening to band no one else is listening to"
This however, isn't quite accurate. I was surprised there was no Brand New thread since I've chatted with other Brand New fans on here, and ones that were perfectly capable of making a great OP post/thread at that.

But yeah, I'm a hipster. /o/

Sorry. I would have replied earlier, but I was at work. And at work my replies are only a few words long, and I plan on using more then a few words to reply to this thread.

First off, let me start off by saying, Thanks for posting Yatahaze.
The music threads here usually filled with complete garbage. (Not that I'm dissing anyone's musical taste.)
It's almost like all the threads on good bands, or the threads worth looking at, eventually die and get replaced with threads about K-pop, J-pop, or something related to anime. Or the OP simply does an awful job explaining the band.
For example; "Who else like this band?" or "This band is amazing yo!"

Remember that one thread about Foster The People, where OP thought they were from India because their Genre was Indie? What the fuck was that?!
It's almost like the entire Dollars community is musically oblivious, and I constantly get depressed with the threads I see on this board. (Again, no offense to anyone)
But not you, Yatahaze. You're like a shimmer light within all this darkness. (I hope that makes sense.)

Anyways, I've been listening to Brand New for a few years, and their music does a brilliant job in being the soundtrack for my life.
I remember about a year ago you posted the album cover for "The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me", And I was so exited to meet another Brand New fan.
One of my fondest memories of this band maybe the time I walked into a record store, and heard “Jesus” play through the speakers. As soon as I head the introduction, I found myself singing along to the lyrics uncontrollably.
I currently own “The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me” and “Deja Entendu”.
The album cover to “Deja Entendu” was even my Laptops wallpaper.

And even though my musical taste has changed drastically since then, this band still has a special place in my heart, and I look forward to hearing more from them.

Many thanks for the thread appreciation etc.

And it's true, the board certainly does get bumped to the brim with the K-pop, J-pop, and shitty OP threads. Jesse's face in my OP is more or less my own when I see them pop up.

No problem, Dude.

Your taste is different from a migority of people on this website, and I think that deserves at least something, Since everyone pretty much just likes the same thing around here. At least that's what it looks like to me. :/

I'm just going to bump this thread to say this.

I like it when Yata makes a thread for a band because it's informative. I'm willing to try a band if I know what to expect. Most band threads can't even put in that much effort.

So only recently hearing/getting into this band I realise that Im going to sound like one of those 14 year old girls on Tumblr that rave about pizza, Parker Cannon and pop punk etc but I dont really care.

The Devil And God Are Raging inside of me is an INCREDIBLE album. I had no idea what to expect going into the album and the first time I listened to it front to back I was in shock. There aren't many bands that can really get me this excited about music, but when I first heard Brand New I was like, "Fuck yeah, this is where its at".

Nice OP Yata, bumpity

Fuck yeah, buddy.

I discovered Brand New and first listened to TDAGARIM when I was 13, and I don't think I realized back then, or even now, just how brutally emotional some of their stuff is. Lacey's lyrical cynicism is so perfectly balanced and the compositions are perfect. "Limousine" is definitely in my top 5 or so favorite songs of all time, and TDAGARIM is, and has been since my early teenage years, my favorite album of all time.

Glad you enjoy them, bro.

also there's nothing wrong with liking Brand New's pop punk stuff from the early days cause it beats 99.9% of all pop punk out there and isn't overrated bullshit in the slightest. /o/

Fucking fantastic band. I love these guys

The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot is my favorite brand new song. Followed closely by Jesus Christ

So I've listened to TDAGARIM a few times, and it never really clicked with me like it seemed to a lot of other people - I me,an people love this album. It's not bad or anything, but when I see so many people hail it as this emo/alt rock classic... just, really? That one? It just seems so unremarkable to me.

Judging by OP their other albums are different, so I won't give up on the band completely. I think everyone knows of a few classic albums that they'll just never get the hype for, and I guess TDAGARIM is just one of mine.

Aren't they emo? I didn't have the time to check out too much of they're work, but from what I heard 'till now it's a really good band.

Now's as good a time as any, they've hinted their final record will likely come out in a few months and the new songs they've released from it already are solid

Their latest single is actually pretty rad. Still not a fan of their older stuff, though.
