Trying to spread this around (22)

Someone at my school recently made a demo of a song for one of their future EPs and i am trying to spread it around to get them more known. You should all go give this a listen. Its actually very amazing.

Sorry, but I don't like it.

If they want to release stuff to the public, they need to reduce background noise and the echo a lot more than what they did. It's very badly done in over-all sound quality.

Also they sound like some 10 year old who didn't reach puberty, when they sing. It's like trying to listen to a worse quality song from Justin Bieber (beiber?).

Sound quality aside, it was ultimately forgettable for me, but it wasn't bad. Just not very memorable. I don't think the singing was god-awful, unless I missed something that Thiamor didn't. :P

I just stated it.
It's just too light pitched and no "sound" coming from it. Again, look at my puberty/Justin reference.

I wouldn't have bothered to make my own response if I agreed with you.

She was sick when recording it and was using an iphone to record.

When making music for the general public, you:
A) Don't be sick. WAIT it out till you feel better.

B) Do not crappily and speedily produce anything. If it's meant to be shared, you need to make it the best that you can, or else you'll get douches, trolls, and whatnot way more than anyone would if it was produced better.

Definitely not bad though, sound quality aside. The guitar playing is decent enough, and she has a fairly nice voice (except the "ohhh"s, those sounded a little forced).

It really is just the quality of the recording if she plans on releasing anything seriously.

I don't know if it's professional quality singing, but it's your friend, so I understand you're trying to support her.

>>7 About the second point, I don't think there is a rule anywhere that states it has to be done with absolute professionalism just to get a rough, candid first-impression opinion from people. People will pick it apart, but it's not like the quality of the recording would have stopped those people in the first place. If anything, not being able to look passed the bad quality would just be shortsighted if that's the only thing they had to say.

I read the replies on this and thought I was going to hear some middle school "emo-kid" band. I am so glad I actually listened.
Let me be the first to say, this is absolutely wonderful!
Lo-fi music gets me going, her voice is raw, powerful and slightly haunting. I love it. I will be interested in this EP.

Just use Firefox and get the 'Download Grabber' Add-on, and it will automatically make a download link on anything. If it has pictures, videos, .swf files, or sound, it'll make a download of it.

>>8 That is just my personal opinion, when people release stuff to the public, and I normally always hate bad quality songs when it still is pretty easy, cheap, or FREE in some ways, to up the quality.

Like one way, sound proofing the room you're in, when doing it.

Keep in mind OP specifically states this is a demo.
It doesn't have to be perfect quality, and if anything, it really just sounded soft.

>>14
By any chance, do you know many songs will be on the EP? I'll check the full thing out when it comes out.

>everyone else

I lol'd, because I'm pretty sure Misuto and Yatahaze wasn't being a douche, nor did they stated not liking it.

OP is probably just antsy from the Thiamor onslaught.

If stating an honest opinion and NOT sugar coating anything just to spare people's feelings, is douchey, then I am a douche.

I am not going to say I like it, just to make you feel better, if I don't like it.

>>11 Pffft. Duh, where is my mind? Thanks Thiamor!

>>14 I won't lie, I'm not going to buy it.
Let's not get hasty with name calling...Thiamor, while brutal, is only giving his opinion. He's not a douche, he's just...Thiamor. Take it with a grain of salt, maybe take some of his advice.
Plus, one person giving an input on the matter is no reason to generalize the community as a whole.
I could go on and on with this but that'd be derailing...and that is bad.

Anyways, tell them to keep up the good work! I'll wait around for the EP. ;)
