Bonus Question: What is a song that you hate but everyone else loves or that everyone hates but you love ?

Oh, I can have some fun with this thread.
I HATE dubstep. I HATE scene bands. I HATE anything by Disney. I HATE gangster-thug hip-hop/rap. and I HATE about 90% of anything that could be considered "weeaboo."

That said, I can pretty much stand anything else. Rock, rap, country, pop, punk, indie, some metal here and there, ambient, blues, etc. I usually prefer alternative and rock, and I like looking around for lesser known bands that I can share with friends and stuff, but I can tolerate a LOT.

The top 5 my HATE list however:
Brokencyde, Nickelback, Lil Wayne, Black Veil Brides, and a certain Bieb.

I just really don't like dubstep. Fuck dubstep. Actually, fuck mixing rock and dubstep. Even when it's good, it's not good. I don't understand the sudden rise in popularity the shit got this past year or two. Ugh.

I'm sure I'll have more later, but for now, this has been Yata's rantings on the Music Board, and I approve this message.

I hate songs that have no value. I'm a firm believer in the whole "meaning behind the music" thing. Shit like thug rap or stupid "lets get drank" songs irritate the shit outta me.

My music has to have some emotion behind it, be it happy or sad. I can tolerate and even learn to love songs that have a clear defined message, regard;less of genre, but anything else is just trash.

3) Modern Music in America in its entirety
4) Country music's lyrics. I don't really mind the tune itself most of the time, but the lyrics are the most depressing thing I've ever heard and I never listen for that reason alone.
5) Meme songs. Oh Dear Hylia, the memes. Even I get sick of bombing dodongos, people >.>

That said, I like pretty much everything else fine. Persona 3 proved to me that good rap exists, so I took rap off my top 6 most hated and turned it to a top 5 XD

In my Opinion new Music in almost it´s complete Entirety is not as good as many "classic" bands -like the rolling stones, queen,Genes9isand a lot more, there are already too many.

1. Country. (I live in the sticks, so I hear waaay too much.)

2. A genre I generalize as Disney pop-rock. This includes all the tween pop and rock idols manufactured today and fed mostly to the idiotic youth of the world through image instead of sound.
"What's a 5G? What's a Bieber? I dunno, it kinda looks like a girl."
3. Over-electrified autotune music. I don't care if other people like it, but it's just too unnatural and says almost NOTHING of an artist's skill for my liking.
4. Gangsta G rap. Now, don't take this as me saying that I hate all rap, because some are truly poetry in rhythm, but the Gangsta G is obsessed with the hedonistic desire to be the biggest ass they can somehow become MORE POPULAR through it.
(Fun fact: The gangsta tradition of low-hanging pants actually did start in prison. It was meant as a sign that the inmate had an "occupancy" that he was looking to fill.)


Beyond that it all generally comes down to preference. Assuming that an artist creates for the sake of creativity or display of actual skill, they earn my respect whether or not I really like the sound I'm hearing.

You don't know what is bad music until you come to Brazil. There is this genre called "funk" which lyrics are basically porn translated to music.
And also the music from hell called "Ai se eu te pego" is from here. Maybe you have already listened to it's English version or something (this song is popular all around the world and I'm ashamed of my country for exporting this trash)

Most rap and country. The reasons have already been explained in the above posts. Country is depressing and Rap is mostly about violence. A man was once aressted because he rapped about the people he murdered.

Most of today's canned music. I mean, Justin Bieber, Williow Smith, Big Time Rush, most of the Disney singers, Miranda Cosgrove…none of them write their own music! WTH?! Don't you guys miss that? When artists where people who wrote their own stuff?

As was mentioned above, songs that are pointless, like anything by LMFAO. I like songs with really deep meaning, for example Snuff by Slipknot.

I don't think I'll ever enjoy dubstep or pop. Although Japanese Pop is pretty good. Electro is a pretty interesting genre, but no one knows what it is anymore because of dubstep.

I can't stand hip hop, rap, or even pop music. I typically enjoy classical and hardcore genres the best, with a mix of electronica and techno added.
