Your Favorite Song of All Time (71)

1 Name: Yatahaze !E/8OvwUzpY : 2012-01-26 21:03 ID:qicPmvpK [Del]

Was thinking, "fuck, can I really think of one?" But yes, yes I can. Everybody I think has one song that you really connect to, you really feel define you, or does what it's trying to do perfectly. A song that withstands the test of time, a song that makes you feel whole and completed, a song that just simply rises above all the rest. We all have one if we look close enough, don't we?

This thread is dedicated to your #1 favorites.
Explanations why are encouraged, but optional.

As for mine, personally it would be U2's "Kite." The song is about a father who comes to terms with his children growing up, but it's so much more than that simple thought. Shortly before this live version was performed, Bono found out his own father, who he hadn't seen eye to eye with much of his life, had passed away. He somehow got out, and performed the to-be-DVD just hours after he saw him say his final words on his deathbed.

My father is an avid U2 fan, and he shared this with me at an early age. We're very close, and I love him very much. -rare Yata emotional moment- I may go through swings of music where I want to listen to this genre, or that artist, whichever new thing comes my way. But very few songs stand at the same importance to me as this one does.

Hmm... tough choice. I'd say Right Where It belongs by Nine Inch Nails.

3 Name: KingZeoX : 2012-01-27 12:00 ID:dMX649WE [Del]

After 10 years of denying this beast, I surrender to it's will.
... My favorite song is, without a doubt in my mind, Escape From The City by Tony Harnell and Ted Poly, the City Escape theme from Sonic Adventure 2. Let's be honest, we all have this burned into our brains after that game. Hell, I don't know anyone that actually hates the song!

I would say the end of heartbreak by killswitch engage. I'm in love with that song. The only reason i know the song is because of resident evil apocalypse. I have the feeling that some of you might not like the fact that I said the movie but I don't care. Most movies I like have good songs.

Not that I'm a big fan of the actual song but: "You are My Sunshine". When I was little, my dad gave me a snow globe that played that song. It was the first Christmas gift I ever actually had a geniune gratitude for (and probably the only one). I can't remember how many times I wound that thing up when I cried, even if I was crying for stupid reasons. And one day, the snow globe broke. I don't know how long I cried about it, but I kept it. Even when we moved, I held onto it. On the next move, I figured (since it was a Care Bears snowglobe) that it was time to grow up, so I tossed it in the bin; holding back an inner sadness. God, how I wish I kept it. That song feels so special, and it makes me happy (when skies are grey). Even though I always want to cry when I hear it. It's just that special to me. But I guess the song that describes me most and what is my 'modern' "You are My Sunshine" (nothing could actually EVER replace it but, still.) is "Shissou" by Vic Migona.

My favorite song would have to be "Viva La Vida" by Coldplay.

One day, back in '08 I just heard several seconds of the song from a commercial for a new phone, and I thought: "That song...it's heavenly..." Several months later, I heard the song late at night when my TV was set to SNL, which is where I learned what it sounded like (I didn't know the words). Several months later, in '09 I heard them again, and this time I learned tha name of the band (which is also how I became a Coldplay fan). Later that year, I went to michigan, where I remebered the song, and looked it up on youtube, where I found it. I soon had to go back home, where I didn't have internet, until about a year later, I stayed up all night memorizing the song. Now, I own the album with Viva la Vida, and I can listen to it as much as I want.

The reason why I love this song is that, not only do I see parts of my life in it, but tha It took me forever to finally "catch" it....it was special to me, and It is still my favorite song of all time, even after 4-5 years.

Oh... This is a tough question.

I would have to say Somedayby Nickelback.

The song is about a couple in a fight, if you just listen to the song.

If you watch the music video, you would notice that it starts off with a boyfriend/girlfriend in a fight. The girl throws a newspaper and stormsout of the house, crying. Her boyfriend is unable to stop her. She gets in her car and leaves, "accidently" running a red light. A semi truck hits her car and she dies. She climbs out of her car and starts hugging her boyfriend, who had run after her car the entire time.

At the end of the video, it shows a picture of the newspaper the girl had read before storming off. It had a picture of her boyfriend on the cover, titled "Man dies in tragic bridge accident".

It's not really a song about fighting, but a song about caring... And i find it kinda touching.:)

Repost from a separate thread.

Hmmm, that's a hard one. There are quite a few that I really like, but if I had to pick just one, I'd say "November Rain" by Guns N' Roses. I love the solo in it, and the whole thing is just really cool to me; plus it reminds me of a girl that I used to have feelings for...so that always helps a song be good.

>>25 That's actually one of my all time favorites too, also for personal reasons; it sure is hard to try to narrow down my favorites from such a huge list of songs that I know.

Disagree with OP - there can never be just one. There's too much brilliant, emotional music out there, and also you won't have grown up with just one song.

But anyways... thread tradition. Here's just one of mine.

Radiohead - Creep

It's basically about a guy who like's this girl, but he can't talk to her because he think's he's a "creep". The way he describes this girl like she's the only real source of beauty in the world, and the way he subsequently put himself down is pretty much exactly how it is, and the song manages to make it sound sad without getting too emo about it. And the music swells up and dies down to match these emotions - it's loud when he's pissed, and soft when he's... I dunno, entranced? You get it.

I know it might sound a bit cheesy, but the execution is just flawless; through both the music and the lyrics, you will feel this guy's pain.

The main reason I like it so much is because it's a situation I've been in a few times. I can tell you, it's just the worst feeling knowing you're too much of a pussy to just talk to her.

But if I had to choose, this one always manages to stay my favourite.
Find the Blue - Ito Kanako; ChäoS;HEAd VN opening theme.
I love this song like crazy, the lyrics just... They fit my character I guess. It just takes me back to the opening scene of the novel which was so beautiful... Feels. And the meaning of the song in terms of the series is beautiful, even though it means something slightly different to me... I'm rambling X3 I can't explain things I love very well.
