Hello wonderful people of the Dollars(:
I have just recently found out that the Pillows who play music in the anime FLCL will be playing a live concert at El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, California. (:
You should go and see them if you think you are as freaking amazing as i think they are! :D <3
sincerely, Vanessa ;D <3

That's exciting.
Sadly, I don't like anywhere near LA.
But I'll bump it and recommend that if you live in the area, you should go.

Man I wish I could go, unfortunately I have to go to Japan soon and can't afforded a ticket to LA, might see them in Japan hopefully.

I just saw them. It was really epic. I think they do have a tour in October in Japan I think.

Went looking for this thread when I saw a duplicate saged on the frontpage for this board

Is this really the only thread we have for it? I'm inclined to make a more detailed one but eh.

I didn't ever notice this thread somehow, in any case. The Pillows is an awesome fucking band. People have often related them to a japanese version of the Beatles, and with good reason. I don't think FLCL would've had the same feel to it if they didn't do its soundtrack. And even outside of that anime, their songs in general are just fantastic. Everyone go listen to Hybrid Rainbow.

aww i wonder if they will ever come to chicago but i know a band that covers them(pillowcases)will be preforming in anime midwest

I'd honestly rather have a thread for just them, not having FLCL in the title, their library is far too expansive to only regard them as those guys that Gainax licensed for the show, even if it is how many (myself included) find out about them.

Speaking of their expansive library though, anybody else hear the 5 disk collection of B-sides and alternate versions of their entire library called "Lostman Go To Yesterday"? It still blows my mind that they can fill up 5 disks with almost entirely cut material.

Only stuff I've heard from this group is FLCL Soundtrack 3 and Happy Bivouac.

"Rush", "Carnival", and "Hybrid Rainbow" are probably my favorite songs. I've been meaning to listen to more of their stuff at some point. Their discography is so intimidatingly large though, it's kind of delayed the start of that.

You are aware this thread is over two years old, right?

Why do people not look at timestamps?

This thread is over 2 years old. The L.A. performance mentioned in the OP happened over 2 years ago. Look at timestamps. They are important.

Rush is freaking awesome. Happy Bivouac is without a doubt my favorite album of theirs, but man they have some great ones. Please Mr. Lostman, Little Busters, and Runner's High are probably the other really solid ones.

I'd say check out Little Busters next, you'd probably really dig the opening track, "Welcome to Bubbletown's Happy Zoo (Instant Show)". There's another song on their though called "Nowhere" that has probably my favorite subject / lyrics of theirs. Definitely won't disappoint.
