Does anyone like k-pop or k-indie? I feel kinda awkward because I feel as if I'm the only one who listens to this stuff lolol.
The only Japanese bands I listen to are Capsule and Perfume.. Other than that I listen to anime sound tracks too.

C'mon, it's not just there are pretty or anything, honestly I listen and become fan even before watching them...
Well, it sur is diffrent from the-super-popular-american-pop-music (I love it too), but it's good music, style can't be the same in all the world y'know, so there are folks who will love it and other that are not going to ^^
So to answer to Mitsuo: in MY opinion, yes it's really good genre, but in other's opinion, i can't tell.

I seem to have a stereotype against it, which is why I asked for suggestion or opposing opinion to that.
I tend to imagine k-pop songs (at least the ones sung by girls) as an incredibly catchy (not necessarily good), upbeat song sung by one or several girls that has some dance attached to it. Popular for it ability to get stuck in your head (GEE GEE GEE GEE-) or the dance that it comes with.
I'm aware not all of them are like this, but in the same way rap songs are popular for talking a whole lot about asses it bothers me that these things are so popular.
As for korean songs sung by guys, the image that pops into mind is either that of a try-hard gangster boy band (the half-gay pretty boy look I was talking about) or an overly emotional singer (a la soap opera). This may be the fault of my friends and their questionable tastes again, but it's what I've been exposed to.
Given, I have heard songs that go against both images and it's a pleasant surprise... but given its relative infrequency, I leave that up to sturgeon's law. I'm not trying to offend or say the genre is bad, in fact I'm asking someone to show me otherwise. I don't like disliking an entire genre.

I'm not sure if it's just me thinking this way, but these days K-Pop became so much harder to listen to. To me it seems that K-Pop lost its "color" that it used to have. Now it feels like US Mainstream in Korean. K-Indie, however is still great.

Recently I have been a big fan of KPOP, mostly for superficial reasons. The majority of the songs are indeed catchy rather than actually well-written (in composition of both melody and lyrics). Although I suppose that might make it good in its own sense.
As a dancer myself, I am charmed by the memorable dances that are associated with the songs. I can say with confidence however, that the dancing is usually a step above the song itself (like in SNSD's 'The Boys', while the dancing may not be filled with ohmyzosh backflips and amazing tumbling that you find in more "impressive" groups like 2PM, you can see a serious synchronization between the members, not just in timing and moves but in actual style. They really work as one, and as a dancer, I know that can be extremely hard with even five people, let alone twelve).
Another obvious reason why people are so charmed by KPOP, I believe, is the fact that these groups are not only dancers/singers but actual entertainers, comedians, actors. They are TV personalities, and Korean Pop starts are a great deal more interactive and open with their fans than, say, their Hollywood counterparts.
Since many fans, including myself, feel like they "know" the idols (not that we necessarily do, of course) the love for KPOP grows even more. Cause I'll admit it, I love some of these goddamn Korean fuckers. Cause they're so lovable on-screen.
On a much more superficial note, I'd just like to share that my ultimate girl crush is Hyomin. Awkward humor, beautiful, definitely the one of the more talented members within T-ara, and her on Invincible Youth was serious entertainment. (Anyone seen IY???)

I was just wondering if anyone else thought that EXO was just a band who's fame mostly came from fanservice. I understand that every artists main deal is to please their fans but its taken a turn to where it's shameful. BTS is so successful because their songs are amazing, and they work hard on their dances. In my opinion BTS is very admirable. Honestly EXO would be so much better if they put more work into their music rather than stripping, and their fake boy love scenarios
