Anyone ever see those NicoNico Chorus videos? The ones where groups of people (represented by icons usually) sing a song in a collaboration?
Donut and I came up with this idea at some point - it would be cool to have a Dollars Chorus, right?

The plan is to do Complication by ROOKiEZ is PUNK'D. So far we have about 5-6 people (Me, Donut, flan, shikari, and Kanna). If anyone wants to join in, just post the link here or email it to me ( shortaznblackbelt@gmail.com ). I'll try to put it together in Adobe Premiere, but if anyone thinks they can do a better job with editing you're welcome to - I'm only volunteering because I have the program.

Remember that in the final cut we're going to have it switch up, so you'll be heard for some parts but not others. Just record the whole thing to be safe, but don't worry if there's parts you mess up a little on.

I managed to track the guitar solo. I sang the harmony vocals in the second pre-chorus and for the second and third chorus' but the melody is in a really awkward range for me. It works out because I'm doubtful that anyone else tracked the harmonies and it should be a little quieter anyways.

Remember also that you don't need to necessarily do it in one shot. Kanna submitted hers in 3 parts, and it's probably easier to do it that way for it to sound good rather than if you submit it as a single file; unless, of course, you got it good in one try.

Well, I can cut out parts that don't sound right of course. I'm gonna be piecing it together anyway so that nobody sings the entire time. Taking turns and such.

i really want to do this, but i'm not sure if my singing is good (i've been practicing a lot though) and i dont have a mic...i might have to record myself with video then try to get a mp3 out of it...anyone know how to do that?

Mitsuo, if you get some of the other people singing together in one trial mp3, then maybe i'll try singing to that too for now i sing with the actual singer, but it's kool if you wanna wait for the finished product too~

There are some programs that can do that, but they're all on free trial so you'd either be limited by time or by how many files you try to convert.

You CAN send me the video and I can just rip the audio from it while editing, it's easy to do in my video editing software.

Hey, how many people do we have now? do you think well do another song?

So far... 6 people have submitted their covers. A couple are still recording theirs, and some of the 6 may or may not be redoing it.

In the meantime I started putting it together already just to hear what it sounds like and reduce the amount of work I'd have to do in the end :P

I'm up for doing another one if this one works out. Shooting for maybe... 10 people to submit at least by the end? A lot of people expressed interest without following up, and that's kind of irritating - because I don't know how many people to expect or wait on now.

Maybe it's time to set a deadline? How does March 1 sound?

* means either you told me you were going to re-record or I'd really prefer it if you did - there's a lot of background noise, static, and ringing in some of yours that make up about 50% of your volume in the recording. I can still try to include you, but no promises you'll be loud enough.
For those marked, I suggest recording using Audacity - it records you at a higher volume than the normal windows recorder. Higher is better, since I can always lower it - raising it is harder.

Also, just like the Nico Nico choruses, I was going to try and have icons representing each of us up on the screen.

Yeah, I put it together from what everyone sent me so far. Right now nothing's cut except for the soft part right after the chorus (because it sounded better with fewer voices) and parts where people just sounded dissonant with the others for whatever reason.
Also, the static on some peoples' recordings ; n; you can hear it

The problem with that is sound quality. I've already had to deal with static in some peoples recordings, i'd much prefer it if we had less of that. It's so bad that it almost drowns out their own voice sometimes. It's been bearable so far because I just have their parts during sections where a lot of people sing, so you can't really hear it, but if more than a couple tracks are staticky we may have a problem.

Too lazy to remind you in chat, but to remove the room noise, go into audacity, go to effects and then go to Noise Removal. I'm pretty sure you can do the rest by yourself... And make sure to keep the setting for noise removal to the left, the lowest setting possible. Wouldn't want to remove all noise from there.

In the future, I don't think I can trust myself with doing something like this again since I end up taking so long, what with other things keeping me too busy to focus on it.

here's feedback that comes to mind, but it's not directed to you, Misuto, okay, let's all try to have at least a decent method of recording, they sell mic headsets on eBay for less than 5 bucks, inc. shipping. And they're actually pretty good. not compared to studio mics. better than a mobile or handheld device.

I honestly don't think it's a good idea to amplify people's voices... I mean... I don't think it would be a good chorus if everyone's voices were heard overlapping each other. I think a chorus is a chorus because everyone blends in well together on both the duet and group parts. It isn't so that you can hear yourself... It's contributing your voice not to be heard as a single person but to be heard as a group of voices. :( In most choruses, you'll only hear yourself on a solo.

I put in lyrics so it wouldn't be confusing - the numbers/letters match up with each line in the lyrics.
(Ignore the notation I used too, essentially X was for if they only had one channel (mono) and B was for if they had two (stereo). I was considering mixing left and right channels but it would've taken too much time to balance and I have no idea what I'm doing.)
If there's any letter there at all, that means they're singing at that part.

Yup, that's how it works. The different letters don't mean anything you need to worry about - if there's a letter there at all, that means you sing. If there isn't, you don't sing. The notation was just for my personal organization and it doesn't matter in the end for you.

And don't worry 'sumi, I took an inordinate amount of time getting it ready as well because of school and junk. Good luck on your exams :V

If you want to stick with Durarara!! songs, we could do Uragiri no Yuuyake, which I find to be an easy song to sing.

I think "Uyagiri no Yuuyake" would be a good choice if we're sticking with Durarara!! songs. But I kinda like "Trust Me" too, even though YT Chorus already did that.

Sticking with Durarara since that seems to be what everyone wants, I like the idea of Uragiri or maybe Trust Me.

If we go outside that range though there are so many options. Staying within Japanese songs, how many of you are familiar with many vocaloid songs?

And I'd be into doing something in English too. I do speak it fluently.

I'm up for Vocaloid if not from Durarara!!. That way it wouldn't be from a specific anime, which we all watch different kinds of. Haha, and doing something in English would be cool too since, I assume, most of the people in Dollars speaks it fluently.
