I know they may not be a lot of people here that listen to K-rap, but if there is anybody in here that is curious enough to check them out, I highly HIGHLY recommend listening to a very popular band called Epik High.

They have insane flows and rhythms but they differ a lot from a lot of the other music artists out there with very deep and provocative lyrics.

Here is a good song to introduce to you guys to them:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RTl3HXK_NI

the song is very catchy and it was my first EPIK HIGH song that I heard. I was instantly hooked and I hope you guys will too!

here is an example of a song that really shows off their poetry and deep lyrics:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mYI0Otarb4

It took me quite awhile to truly understand this song, but it really is a good story of a person trying to strive for their dream and in facing hardships along the way.

Last song I wanna share with you guys is this. It really pumps you up and screams in your face: NEVER EVER GIVE UP!

Well I hope I didn't take too much of your time but I am really passionate about this group and I hope you guys can give them a chance! They are truly revolutionaries of rap in Korea and have existed for over 10 years. Please leave me a comment and tell me what you think! But please, lets keep them friendly and have open mind to their music!

EPIK HIGH TILL THE DEATH OF ME :D

They have a lot of albums out already but the band is currently on hiatus due to Korea's compulsory military service for men so 2 of the 3 members are currently serving there 2 years of service. Be sure to welcome them back with open arms if you are big fan and keep supporting them!

Big fan here. My first exposure was the MVs for "Wannabe" and "트로트/High Technology". You know, the parody of The Host.

Looked into them more, only to discover some pretty creative serious stuff, like "1분 1초," "One," or most of all "Fan," which I think speaks to me especially as an avid anime fanboy.

Tablo, the frontman, is a pretty cool dude as well. He studied English lit. at Stanford, so his English lyrics are very solid and 100% legit.

I'm not really a fan of most current Korean music (a.k.a. pretty girls dancing to retarded lyrics), so Epik High is a refreshing break.

Here's hoping for Mithra and Tukutz's safe return.

Yeah! Thanks TRP for responding!

I know they have some really nice serious lyrics that really open up your mind and think. I never knew that rappers could ever be this insightful until I listened to them!

I love a lot of K-pop but Epik High truly stands above them all for they aren't afraid to spit it like it is! I love there song "White Night" I used to just blast that why I drive around in the city at 2 in the morning! What do you think of that song?

Lets hope that these guys will be even more amazing when they reunite again!

I don't always listen to K-pop but I know this group. Their style is pretty different from the almost K-pop styles nowadays.(just as some one talk above...pretty girls or boys dancing with some songs no differences) I like them for their creative and catchy songs .
Tablo is funny in X-MAN . hah hah~ he is lovely

wow, I love Epik High.. Its like the only group where I love almost every single one of their songs. haha. I've been listening to them for a very long time, i remember my first song being like.. Fan, Paris, Love Love Love.. Gosh I need to listen to them more, haha

I LOVE EPIK HIGH OMG!!!

They're awesome. While some other groups stay away for decades and comeback with 7 new songs, Epik High release a DOUBLE ALBUM. A double album at Korea. Man, that's awesome. I miss them!

Sigh, I'm really missing them right now. I haven't listened to them in awhile but started to again recently.

I know Lee! They are pretty hardcore and it just goes to show you how hardworking they really are! I read in an interview awhile back that the whole compulsory military thing is only a minor set back. I think it's good because it gives Tablo a chance to bond with his child for awhile.

Here is hoping for their return!

Btw, what is yall's favorite song or album?

I absolutely cannot pick a favorite song but my all time favorite album was "Remapping the Human Soul". You guys should check it! It's got just the right blend of swagger rhymes, and some pop elements to keep it fresh and interesting!

Whats yours? :D

I'm actually a huge fan of Epik High and I'd just like to say that I'm a huge fan of Remapping, Epilogue and the Lovescream mini-album. I listened to their earlier stuff, and I like a few older ones like Lesson One and Two. I like what Tablo has to say in those songs. "Genius is not the answer to all questions, it's the question to all answers."

In case any of you guys didn't know, Tablo has signed himself with YG Entertainment, which kind of goes against what their Map The Soul project stood for, which was to create music away from mainstream companies. This is only for Tablo, however, Mithra and Tukutz aren't affected. I guess it's just Tablo trying to get back on the scene and make some money for himself and his new family after the whole Stanford incident, and I'll support his new endeavors until the other two members return from military service. When they do, they better go back to working under mapthesoul and not with YG.

Gah, I love Epik High!

I can't believe that I forgot about it. It's truly a shame that they broke up because one of the members (I forgot which) was drafted for the military. I truly hope they get back together one day.

>>9 There's nothing wrong with YG, I mean, see what they did with 2NE1 and Big Bang? I think it would get them the recognition they have, since they most definitely deserve it.

My favorite song would probably be One Minute One Second, or just One. I don't know, something about it is just so entrancing :).

Oh, I like YG too. It's just that when Epik High was doing their Map The Soul project, they said that they were doing it because they were fed up with the big corporations and whatnot. It was kind of disappointing to see Tablo sign up with them, but hey, like I said, it's his decision and I'll support him as a fan. :D

And if the other two do agree with Tablo and join the YG family...then I'd hope they wouldn't lose the parts of their music that I've come to love so much just to satisfy their new crowd.

>>9 Well I guess Tablo signing with YG wouldn't be as bad as him signing with other companies (JYP, SM etc) because YG is known for giving their artists freedom in terms of writing the music. While there are still limits, it's a whole lot better than other companies where the artists do hardly any of the songwriting.

Anyway, the first Epik High song I heard was 'One', and loved it. My friend gave me a whole bunch of their albums, but I still haven't listened to all of it yet.

You've got a good point there. I have noticed that YG stuff is a bit less generic than other companies. I can't say it enough, I'd really like to see the group become independent of a huge company, but if YG is who they'll be with when they come back, then so be it.

Sorry for double post, but here. In case you haven't heard Tablo's new stuff.

And if you have, it wouldn't hurt to listen to it anyway. xD

Quite a lot actually, you've been doing good to the site, although you're only about 4-5 days old.

I give you 10 points and a nice blue ribbon! Keep it up :D

Hahaha. I like ribbons. Thanks. I've liked the Dollars so far. I'll try and do more "good" around here, don't worry. xD

18 Name: Resound !UL5/V6OEIg : 2012-01-10 19:08 ID:Wxgue4fx [Del]

Hell yeah, they are. There's a few links on this thread, but I'll give you a link to my absolute favorite song by them. Ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eINjPkO7w4M

This is Fan. Basically a song about a guy's crazy love/obsession with a girl. I was able to connect with this song the moment I first heard it a few years ago, so it has a lot of personal meaning to me as well as being a kickass song in general. :p

My favorite korean band. Damn I love them! The lyrics, the rytham, they`re really deep. My first song was One. Then I heard Overachiever, I can`t choose the best song on their albums, cause I love all of them. Right now I`m hooked on Noise and Breakdown. And on Tablo`s new album, especialy Expiration date and Bad.

i like these guys. i honestly due. not trying to bash or anything, but it seems like a lot of k-pop groups just try to focus on their image, instead of their actual substance. but these guys are different. you can tell, just in the way they sound
