So I never actually answered this.

I listen to anything that's good, to be cliche.
Good composition, meaningful lyrics if present, and when not, consisting of piano, violin, or acoustic guitar doesn't hurt either.

That said, I listen to J-whateverGenres (I don't even know how you separate them now), which yes includes mostly stuff I've heard out of anime, as well as alt rock, punk rock...normal rock, and rarely metal or rap, depending.
Outside of songs with lyrics, I like classical to an extent, and for some reason folk-style songs (my friend tells me I'd like celtic music).
...I listen to a lot of Touhou arranges that fit these categories.

Trying to expand what I listen to, since until recently that consisted of animu music and whatever old alt-rock songs my brother had lying around from years ago.

right now it's probably a tie between melodic-proggy-metal stuff and bass and synth heavy techno stuff. Music is getting harder and harder to genrefy all the time, and I love music that is very hard to put into any category. if it has originality and intelligence, it's good music.

I tend to stay away from mainstream bands, but there are a few that are good. Most of the music I used to listen to kinda got ruined for me by bad memories from World of Warcraft [I was listening to the band when the stuff was happening, and whenever I listen to it, I just cant help thinking of it.] but, i've started to get into k-pop, j-pop, and j-trance.

Anything That's Written Well, Really. The Vocals Do It For Me, If I Hate The Voice, No Matter What Genre, I'll Drop It. And For Some Reason, Every Once In A While I Go Into A 90 Phase.

However, my favorite type of music is either industrial, ambient, or black metal.

I enjoy music from anywhere, it just has to please my ears. Notable genres for me would be rock, indie, jazz, alternative, and a little bit of punk and pop.

Though a few metal and hip-hop songs do catch my interest.

Hm, I don't really have a favourite band or artist. There are lots of good ones, though. T.M. Revolution, C.G Mix, SHINee, Kamiya Hiroshi, IOSYS, T.A.T.U, Paramore, Linkin Park etc. There isn't a genre I would directly dislike, but I'm not sooo much into such things like metalmusic etc.,though. I absolutely adore pianomusic and OSTs. There are many great compositors like Tenpei Sato (for example Disgaea, La Pucelle), Toshihiko Sahashi (for example Katekyo Hitman Reborn!), KEY Sound Label (for example Clannad) and Norikazu Miura (for example Suikoden V) etc. ^0^

I enjoy many types of music... but I particularly detest American Rap, some Country Songs, and some other types that I can't remember. I listen to Classical, J-Pop, K-Pop, Rock, OSTs, etc.

K-pop is my all time favorite, but I like techno, trance, and classical music as well.

I like punk, post-rock, and industrial music.
But I have a large collection of japanese and classical music as well.
I'm a sucker for movie soundtracks.

You know, I've always wondered why people add K's and J's to bands from other countries.
I mean, isn't a J-Rock band just a rock band from Japan? Why do you need to specify?

I listen to pretty much everything now, except stuff like classical, jazz and rap, and even then there are exceptions.
I love listening to foreign music too. I have 30+ languages on my iPod and it's awesome. :)

Ahaha, but when it comes to foreign music I like listening to mellow sounds like Casker, Clazziquai, Han Hee Jung, Monni, and Winterplay. I also enjoy Epik High's songs and some mainstream Korean pop songs XD

That's debatable for me. I really do like SHINee but unfortunately I'm a fan who doesn't understand Korean. Because I fail. I also am a big fan though of Automatic Loveletter, Mandy Moore, Skillet, Avril Lavigne, OneRepublic, Fort Minor, Switchfoot, ect. I like the soft pop that isn't exactly cookie-cutter stuff, if you know what I mean~

Mainly listen to alternative, indie and grunge. My favorite band is probably Dishwalla, love Counting Blue Cars by them. Lately however, I've been listening to the Girls Dead Monster album since Angel Beats! is probably my favorite anime of all time and have to say their music rocks.

My favorite is japanese or anime music and i hate rap above all else.

well, i grew up listening to bands like the beatles, metalica, and AC/DC, and well, looks like my taste in music hasn't really changed as a teenager. I really like classic rock, but i like metal, and alternative too. :)

I listen to all kinds of music, but alternative rock and songs from musicals dominate my iPod. I basically love anything that has really good dynamics, specially if there are strings and piano in it (bonus if the lyrics happen to be very relatable). I just enjoy listening to the layers of sounds; I always pick apart the songs and imagine every individual instrument (or voice if it's a choir thing) playing.

I like k-pop, mostly 2NE1, BigBang and Super Junior. I like acoustics as well, theres this song called Lullaby by Lateeyah it's soo pretty and there's heaps of covers of it. It's really calming and makes you think of that one special person <3
