Is math related to science? (11)

1 Name: Ana : 2022-09-19 07:04 ID:Idruq/aI [Del]

I was on class today, we were studying math and the subject was about velocity time stuff, calculating how long it takes to cover some distances. There was like speed calculation too, and then there's this exercise question about a scientist who is observing an asteroid orbiting the sun and it asked like the distance it travels or something. And like, I saw this book about space in the school library before, it was on the science section so this really gets me thinking. Is math actually related to science?

Yes. Math is related to pretty much every other field of study. Math is just the base system for separating the universe into measurable bits, which applies everywhere, if you use the right perspective. English, Science, History... you name it.

Math is related to science of course, but I can see the confusion. In science, biology, artificial intelligence, they all use formulas to predict, solve, and idealize, or realize theory. All those stem from math. Math is what we do everyday. Everything we do from waking up (timing) to brusing our teeth (counting) to grades, (numbers percentages).

No, math isn't science. Antisemites keep trying to make it look like you need to know math, but you really don't. Avoid learning math, it is not science, it is antisemitic and racist through history! There are many researches that prove it is, it should be banned in general.

I think the right phrasing is "Science is related to Mathematics". From the start, Maths is the study of numbers and how to use them, while science started with questioning the principles of everything - now known as philosophy. And because the origin of numbers, formulas, geometry, etc., is the need to precisely describe an object in the world - like calculating the area of a piece of land (people still debate around whether we invented or discovered Mathematics), the adaptation of Mathematics to explain nature is inevitable - and thus Science was born.
Good luck with your study!

>>4 Maths is racist and... anti-semitic? Just... why, Anon?

>>6 I think maybe they meant the relation of math to science is racist, although it's not my personal opinion, that seems to make more sense

I feel that way too.science and math are related.

Okay, these kinda makes sense I think. Thanks all who replied!

>>4 Brain off Take. The two are directly related as math is expanded science. Math is essentially just the unspecified laws of physics. in fact the belief differentiation of maths and sciences through lenses of antisemitism led the nazis to think nuclear physics was a jew science, so idk, chill on the math takes and read a history book first, moron.

Math is more a descriptive tool for science. For example, just like you could describe the same landscape in different ways depending on the author, often in physics and when describing the world mathematically there are multiple different ways of getting to the same result.

So I would say that math is related to science, as a tool to describe what people observe occurring in the world and model it.
