Here's some information about the Dollars Texting Group! We’re a group of people from all across the world; we help and look out for each other, and have a lot of fun just talking about the most random stuff in the world. The group is full of wonderful and interesting human beings (excluding myself) and we’re always looking for new members to join and have a great time with us!

This texting group uses GroupMe, so please make sure you have the GroupMe app downloaded.
Send us the email you used to sign up with GroupMe or your phone number + country code (in either case you must be registered with groupme) and include the name you wish to have in the chat (you can always change this later on.)

“What do you talk about in chat?”
We talk about anything and everything! We talk about things happening in our lives, we tell jokes, and we have the usual random conversations you have with friends. Everyone here is very friendly and helpful, and we welcome new people and make them fit right in.
“Is the chat always active?”
YES, we have members from a whole lot of different time zones so there's always people talking in chat. Fortunately, GroupMe has an option to mute it while you’re at school, work, etc. Despite all the members it's never cluttered with spam and following conversations is easy.
“Will I receive SMS texts?”
No, that's an optional feature GroupMe has that is disabled by default.
“Does receiving the texts by SMS cost?”
No, it's free of charge, BUT replying might cost you depending on your provider.
“Do I need to have the App downloaded / Do I need to have a smartphone?”
Yes, you need to have a smartphone and have the app downloaded. It is available for Android, Apple, and Windows phones. You can also open the app on your pc with your browser.
“Can I join the chat?”
ABSOLUTELY. You are most definitely welcome, everyone is extremely friendly here and will welcome you with open arms. There's no need to send us an email asking if you can join.

Actually, this is not a new group. Just a new thread. I'll take a look at the Chatrooms Update Thread and try to move this thread there. In the meantime, why have all of the Dollars-affiliated groups been moved to this one thread? It doesn't seem to be getting much traffic, and other than telling newbies what not to do, there isn't a lot on Main that was getting pushed out by the independent groups. I understand not wanting every half-baked chat group to be on Main, but the big ones, like the Line group, the Kik, Roadrunner, and this group should be promoting on Main.

We just like to cut down clutter. Putting your group on this thread will also give it the opportunity to be put on the Chatrooms page at the top, with other chats. Not entirely sure if there is going to be a new update, I'll have to ask Blanc or someone.

We will definitely try to move this group to the other thread, but would you be kind enough to explain how promoting at least the large active groups is cluttering up Main? I understand the sense behind having a separate page for the Chatrooms, but why does that mean we need to delete this thread? This group chat is 300+ strong and extremely active, I don't see why we shouldn't promote it on Main, especially seeing as there isn't really that much here for it to require "cleaning up."

I don't mind putting the Texting Group on your thread, but it's obvious that your thread and the chatroom board don't see as much traffic. And as for cutting down on clutter, what else is left on Main? It's several threads all telling newbies what not to do. If the individual groups are allowed to promote in Main, that helps the groups themselves because they get more traffic, and it helps the newbies because it gives them a chance to connect with people.

I understand your views on keeping the chats in one specific thread or page, but I still do not think there is any necessity to take down this thread completely. Beginners guides do have a place on Main, but so do threads like this. Maybe bumping the chatroom thread would help, but even so, at least the big groups should also have a thread of their own to promote themselves. This would also help make sure that random small groups are not created.
