please click the bluish text at the bottom of this OP that says: Post too long. Click to view the thread page to see the entire post. so you could read the entire Post/Thread

Definition:

An election is a formal decision-making process by which a population chooses an individual to hold public office. Elections have been the usual mechanism by which modern representative democracy has operated since the 17th century. Elections may fill offices in the legislature, sometimes in the executive and judiciary, and for regional and local government

I don't believe a businessman as successful as Trump is actually as impulsive as he puts on, he's just making use of populist sentiment.

Didn't really want Trump or Clinton to win, but I think Trump would be more likely to lose in a general election than Cruz so I kind of want him to win the Republican nomination.

20 Name: firefly : 2016-04-20 23:19 ID:GCNIAcGc [Del]

>>19

yeah.. and this is just my opinion on this, but I think that the hype around the "pinoy pride" in our perseverance and diligence is just a distraction from uniting and demanding change as a mass. It kind of sets it up so that by complaining, people will think you are being lazy instead of working hard to better your economic status- and of course that's bullshit...

but besides that, Idk.. it seems to me that the pilipino people are very detached from the government. Everyone is really busy working to make ends meet to sift through the shit pile that is current politics.

and question: are all the political debates conducted largely in English??

21 Name: Kurosuke !KurohFVTN. : 2016-04-21 02:01 ID:MDNi8KcK [Del]

>>20 ugh.. the "Pinoy Pride".. I used to be like that until I realized how lame it was.. they seem to be only looking a the bright side.. not in the dark future our country holds. most filipino's seem to be allergic to negative things that they never talk about it.

and yes,, the mass is completely detached from the government.. its because they removed curriculums in High school and college about how government should work..

like "Maikling Kurso sa Lipunan at Rebolusyong Pilipino" or in english, "a short course on filipino society and revolution" which discusses live economics, and government laws like senatorial and house bills.

and "Araling aktibista" or "Ativist lesson"?? im not sure.

but since this country is ridiculously poor, nobody intelligent enough to make it to high school.

Parents decent and high paid jobs could make a children that holds a better future..

sorry of my idea is all over the place

and for you question.. No. they do it in Filipino language.. you have to wait until its available with subtitles..

So to answer your question.. No. i don't think so.. maybe mostly or at east one third of our economical, agricultural and infrastructural problems.. but not entirely.. if put your foot in their shoe .. you'll know that people will never be satisfied.. like never. XD

woah.. i didn't know about the removal of studies in the workings of the government.. that's awful!!

and I was asking if the debates are in english bc I saw a presidential debate but the candidates were speaking English... and I thought that was odd

but is it true that a brighter future for the individual involves moving abroad? in that case, the country would be left behind :(

those who graduate college can't find decent paying jobs so they emigrate... I mean, that's what my mom had to do, and I can't help but think of the people we left behind or the people she could have helped if she stayed...

sorry, i'm also all over the place

26 Name: firefly : 2016-04-21 03:35 ID:GCNIAcGc [Del]

>>21 (you can stop humoring me anytime bc i can go on about this forever XD)

what I see as another reason behind the detachment of the pilipino people from "their" government is the fact that it was just adopted from Western style of government.. and it doesn't have the greatest fit in filipino's lives. They essentially have different values from the Americans who helped them establish democracy..

I guess what I mean by "the government doesn't have the greatest fit" is that pilipinos expect that the government won't help them out anyway so why bother getting involved... (I'll blame the years of subjugation by spain, japan, america etc... They've learned that governing institutions are there to control them, but not help them)...
(this is just a theory, correct me if i'm wrong!!)

.. and what I mean by different values is, at the time democracy was established in the philippines, filipinos weren't nearly as individualistic as americans. Social order is highly valued at the cost of disruption for the sake of social change..

/Sage .. bc I'm pretty sure I'm deviating from the topic of elections

People are complaining about how bad all the presidential candidates in America are. And to this, I reply...

Yeah, you guys are totally right. They suck.
But hey, we're good as long as we have Congress. There are enough people in there that probability dictates that at least one of them isn't a complete buffoon. So that's something, right? Right..?

38 Name: Kurosuke !KurohFVTN. : 2016-04-29 05:28 ID:w3yd7uH3 [Del]

just to inform you.. there are three branches of government with equal powers over the nation.

Legislative - Makes Laws

Congress is composed of two parts: the Senate and the House of Representatives.

  • Senate
The Senate has 100 elected senators total; 2 senators per state. Each senator serves a 6 year term.

  • House of Representatives
The House has 435 voting representatives; the number of representatives from each state is based on the state's population. Each representative serves a 2 year term and may be re-elected.

Executive - Carries Out Laws

The executive branch is composed of the President, Vice President and Cabinet members.

  • President
The president is the head of state, head of the U.S. government and the commander-in-chief of the U.S. military.

  • Vice President
The vice president not only supports the president, but also acts as the presiding officer of the senate.

  • Cabinet
The Cabinet members are nominated by the president and must be approved by the Senate (with at least 51 votes). They serve as advisors and heads of various departments and agencies.

Judicial - Evaluates Laws

The judicial branch of government is made up of the court system.

  • Supreme Court
The Supreme Court is the highest court in the country. The 9 justices are nominated by the president and must be approved by the Senate (with at least 51 votes).

  • Other Federal Courts
There are lower Federal courts but they were not created by the Constitution. Congress deemed them necessary and established them using power granted from the Constitution.

BUT, Without the approval of EXECUTIVE, Laws made by Legislative will be in vain.

so yeah.. president plays a high role on government. He isn't called president for nothing.

but as a mass, people can do something about it. If and only if people unite.

@Nothing, I agree with ur conclusion that most of our president is corrupt,
Corrupt, in my own understanding, is a person who stole money from the people he is serving, without the knowledge of the people.
according to google:showing a willingness to act dishonestly in return for money or personal gain.

but honestly saying I am corrupt too. in a way i do some stuff for personal gain, but have you ever thought of what kind of "personal gain" I'm referring to?
(tell me if u had under go or learned in ur sociology and philosophy class)

In my own opinion, all are corrupt, but i have this way of thinking that some corrupt people use the money for other good purposes.

and @nothing, before u say that
If u are under the government of the philippines, let me remind u, we are a democratic gov. hence, we have the power and privilege to change our gov.
without gov. do u think we really did manage to be in this standing?
or if u think we became puppets under our government. is it the governments fault?
have u ever thought not becoming a puppet under them? u do know u have the freedom?
(Phil Con (Philippine Constitution), read the whole book if u don't understand the functions of the philippine government)

They wanted to make us believe that we are free so we can't see the truth of our enslavement. Yeah maybe you do some stuff for personal gain but if you don't hurt the others or you don't stole the others for your personal gain i don't think that you are corrupt.

I am from Davao and I can attest over the years of Digongs Leadership, but personally, I would not have him run for Presidency, Why? because people are people, especially filipinos. I did not mean that in a degrading way, but look at history. No matter how good you are, people will still have something to say, will still be against someone if the things they want can't be achieve, even if now it's the minority, it will escalate in the end just like Aquino's Presidency.

I do not believe he will get rid of all the drugs and criminality in the whole of the Archipelago in just Six Months? He did that in Davao for a Score, how can he do that in the whole Philippines?, again, that is just my opinion, but don't get me wrong I am Pro Digong and will always be. I just wished that he could have just silently retired in Davao than his name be Branded BAD like what they are doing now.

>>68 right aleister i agree with u. mayor Digong experienced lots of harsh treatments from hypocrites , though it is that way. But at the same time i think he had felt the love of the people who knows him verywell (from Davao Also) and those who have trust in him. That probably why he wants to run for the benefit of those he thinks who hungers for justice or those for those people.
i want Digong to be a president of the phil. To let others experience his great way of being a leader.

-guys try to search on google or youtube top 10 most dangerous place and honestly i agree that the most dangerous place is a place where illegal drugs are dominant in the place.

And yeah i don't agree Digong can rid all the drugs in the span of 6 months. But at least he had a clear vision of what he plans and what he fights for.

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR RECEIPT DOES NOT MATCH YOUR BALLOT

1. Before accomplishing ballot, copy the Ballot ID number found at the upper right corner of the ballot on a piece of paper, or onto your palm.

2. Accomplish ballot by shading completely the oval of the candidates of your choice. Feed your ballot into the VCM scanner, and wait a few seconds for the VCM printer to finish printing your receipt. The BEI will help you cut the receipt from the VCM. Once you feed your ballot into the VCM, and you get your receipt, you cannot get your ballot back. Acceptance by the VCM is final.

3. Step away from the VCM so that the next voter can cast his vote, and walk towards the black box receptacle for the receipt. Read your receipt and if there is any error like a vote for candidate A on the ballot which is reported as a vote for candidate B on the receipt, or a vote for candidate A reported as undervote, or a vote for candidate A reported as overvote, then COPY your Ballot ID from your codigo (on your palm) onto the back of the receipt, sign the back of the receipt, and complain to the BEI, telling her of your objection, which the BEI is required to record in the minutes of the precinct.
With the Ballot ID on the receipt, Comelec can then match your receipt to the correct ballot, and check the validity of your complaint. If the Ballot ID is not written on your receipt, there is no way to match the receipt to the proper ballot, and so your complaint may be ignored by Comelec, or Comelec might charge you with various violations.

4. If your receipt matches your ballot exactly, deposit your receipt into the black box receptacle. you can not take your receipt with you out of the precinct -- this is an election offense.

5. Your votes, whether correctly or incorrectly read by the VCM, are included in the count for the precinct.

IN SHORT: TAKE NOTE OF YOUR "BALLOT ID" before ninyo i feed sa VCM machine. Para pag may problema sa resibo, ISULAT ang ballot ID sa resibo at pirmahan. Then inform the BEI.

Well we'll all screwed if Hillary becomes president. Saying that our other choices are Donald and Bernie. And frankly as me and all my siblings don't have jobs, my mother got cut. And my entire family is practically broke not to mention most of America is in the same situation. I think a business man is just what we need. I mean I WANT to have a future thank you. I can't believe that sexist Hillary is running, SHE SHOULD BE IN JAIL! And don't say a women can't be sexist cause they can. And don't burn me I AM A WOMEN TOO SO I KNOW! Sometimes it feels like I'm the only real equalist in the world..

Lmao. Donald has filed for bankruptcy multiple times. If you think that America should lose everything and then try to start over than go ahead and keep thinking that FV1UKslb. But then again. None of you guys have any jobs and I have two, yet you blame the economy for your situation. So I wouldn't be surprised if you don't care about the rest of the human race and only care about your underachieving self.

As much as I hate to admit it, Trump might be the lesser of the evils what with sexist and criminal Hilary and socialist Bernie.

Trump is the only one who isn't being supported by a company, he's funding himself meaning he isnt a puppet for big corporate companies.

Like I said I really don't like saying it, but at this point it's what I come to believe.

YAAAY~ We don't know AAANNYYYthing about politics, but that doesn't matter after all, the only thing that matters about our next president is HOW LOUD THEY TALK." Seriously people. GROW A SPINE Trumps insults are literally NOTHING to the way TEENAGERS in Texas treat their FRIENDS. If you can't take INSULTS how are you going to survive in this world? AND JUST because someone insults someone DOESN'T mean they're a bad person! OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO ATTACK PEOPLE IF YOU'RE RUNNING FOR ANYTHING. Telling people flaws in the other candidates IS HOW YOU DEBATE IF YOU CAN'T TAKE DEBATES THEN GET OUT OF AMERICA! America was founded so we could have the FREEDOM TO DEBATE!!!

Ted Cruz was a great candidate. He left to help preserve the republican party and give Trump more votes. No matter what Clinton is terrible. She was removed from her office position- Secretary of state- for incompetence. If she can not handle a lower position do we want her to lead our country? Trump isn´t great but he is the lesser of two evils.
