People are trying to get the Dollars an world wide known gang and that will be very dangerous for people that just want to have fun and live an anime life. Many people have different idea of the Dollars and that is going to get people in trouble, even when most people on here is little kids that is under the age of 18.

To me The Dollars are a way to talk to people you wouldn't normally be able to, keep up on current events, and just enjoy yourself.

I personally don't know any dollars in real life, (maybe I'll make a thread calling for a get together in my community, who knows!?) Anyways,like previous entries on this thread have stated, we are like a family, and family keeps other family members in check! So I guess that's what the dollars are to me, just a big anonymous family that has deep moral concerns for each other and the world as a whole. I like the Dollars, The Dollars to me is a way I can meet new people in my life and it's also a great way to make new friends since I'm not the type of person that to make friend in an instant but i don't really know people that are Dollars in real life.

To me, the Dollars is a community. It's not an organization, it's not a fandom, it's not a business or a gang, it's a community. The BBS is a place where people can get together online and do something that pertains to their personal interest with other people who share that interest. If someone wants to help their community, this is a place where they can organize a party so that they can do it together. If someone wants some help testing a program they wrote, or a device they designed, they can rush off to the tech board to show off what they've got. If someones goal is to simply be her to help clean up the boards and organize the BBS, they can do that too. Hell, if someone wrote a book or just wants to talk to someone about a book they read they can do that here too.

It's a place that you can be yourself, with others that share like interests and goals. It's nothing fancy, it's no superpower, but it's a good thing to have.

At least, in my opinion anyway.

I'm a dollar for fun, I like being part of this because I get to have fun with other people no matter what, because there's always someone online. I consider the dollars a giant, loose, but tightly knit family. We all want to see the same thing: a more friendly world, littered with random good deeds. We're a people across all people, and that proves that we can all coexist with minimal altercations.

It's also a really wonderful place to rant and whine without being (vocally) judged about everything you have to say. People may judge you internally, but they generally don't feel the need to bring it up unless it's in a thread that promotes discussion, and that's cool. There aren't many places on the internet where you can be kinda emotionally open without getting your ass torn equally open about it.

I say the Dollars are really a community at the core cause the stuff we do whether good or bad is like stuff a community would do. We're just not always neighborly. Some of us are, others just try to be overblown hall monitors, but that aside there's all sorts of people here that gather for the sake of an anime that may or may not have an impact on people's lives.

Taking a point from previous replies above, I don't believe the Dollars are really doing things as seriously as it should. I mean it's a group with thousands of members, but no specific goal is being set to achieve. It's just another place in the internet to be in, it's not as encouraging to commit people to a certain goal, where a guild or some other form of group builds around. This group is just too big, and not solid enough to make a presence in the world, physical or cyber.

A change and a chance to have fun and learn something new that's all I can say

I remember when I first heard the website existed in 2012. I was reminded of the lines from the series "if something like this was real, I'd want to be part of it." So I checked it out, didn't really have much to contribute, and disappeared for a while. I returned a few months ago because I wanted to share a mission I felt was perfect for a group like us. Since then, I've had nearly one hundred members participate.

The Dollars is a gang.

Not because of the manga/anime it takes its name and general idea from, but because of the definition of what a gang is: a group or band; a group of youngsters or adolescents who associate closely, often exclusively, for social reasons, especially a group engaging in delinquent behavior; a group of people with compatible tastes or mutual interests who gather together for social reasons; a group of persons working together.

To me, from what I've seen over the years, it's nothing more than another fanbase for a fictional work. As far as this site, it's just another chan site.

Once people here start actually working together en masse to accomplish the missions they set forth, then my opinion may change. It's good to dream of doing good things and all, but dreams on their own mean nothing once you've woken up.

It's up to you to act on those dreams. Wake up.

Cheesy or no, the Dollars to me are, or at least should try to be/I'll help to be, an organization of ordinary people that want to make the world better... I understand a lot use it just as a forum, but, to others such as myself, it is something far more. As weird as it sounds, the Dollars gives people a reason to do good, rather than doing it simply for the sake of doing it. When you do something and know that you are not only helping some random person just to make the world better but that you are also fulfilling your duty as a dollar, It's a great feeling because not only is it semi-altruistic, but there is a logical backing to it.

Another thing, to be honest, is the Dollars are a source of inspiration for me. In all seriousness, I'm a quite pronounced cynic and pessimist- but when I found out the Dollars were real and actually doing things, it had a really big impact. It brightens my day to be able to just scroll through the forums as well and just see all of the people that are willing to do good in the world... Sometimes, I even forget how horrible people can be.

That's what the Dollars are to me. Probably a lot more than was expected, but, eh, you had a question and I had an answer.

For me and many I know, the Dollars are a place to belong. We are all here because of shared interest, but we take it further; we have a place and people to depend upon and for them to depend upon us in turn. Something to be loyal to.

To me the Dollars represent two things.

Firstly, an opportunity. We have many members, and with that comes a considerable amount of power. If we so wished, and we were willing to make the effort to do so, we could enact significant change through our group action, be this by illicit means or simply donating several thousand dollars to charity.

Secondly, the Dollars represent a responsibility. Believe it or not, I am one of a dying breed of older member. I watched as the site grew into something beautiful, something that meant something and was recognized elsewhere than in our realm of the internet. I also watched as it imploded, with the few core members either being driven out by wave after wave of newbie, or simply losing touch. And without their central influence we degenerated into a cesspool of lethargy and inbred anime fandom. I have recognized my part in allowing that to happen, and I now aim to bring us back to our former glory, policing the site the same way the Moon Warriors formerly did, but with one key addition. I will leave successors. When such a time comes that I leave the site, I will ensure that there are guards in place to prevent the Dollars from dissolving, assuming it has the will to carry on. By my word, as long as there is at least one caring member left, I will fight to keep the Dollars alive and healthy, and will do my utmost to educate the newbies in our ways. This is not to say I envision myself as some form of leader, just the opposite. I am merely a caretaker, a mere servant of the entity that is the dollars, but I'll be damned if I idly wait for it to die.

I feel like the dollars is the most and least significant thing any of us will do. First, the dollars have no rules, no code, and no true obligation. Because of this you get all sorts of gremlins coming out of the woodwork that want to organize, label, control it. The dollars is about doing what you want so there us no limitation of what people say and do. Second, those are all the reasons that make the dollars great. Even if someone wants to use the dollars for their own agenda they can't. We are an invisible force. Barely any of us know each other IRL. This thread is very interesting.
I have joined this community only a few days ago, but i gotta say what i love the most about it is that, despite what others have said above, i think its essence is VERY similar to the original idea of the DRRR Dollars.
On one side, it's just plain, simple and beautiful humanity, a big mass of people each different from the other all communicating with each other, and communication and thought sharing are some of the most powerful forces in the world.
On the other side, it's not a completely aimless and chaotic community; unlike 4chan and others, the people on here do have something in common. Aside from the obvious DRRR fanbase, there is a lingering idea of being in a family on here, of always having someone present you can discuss your emotions or projects with, without the fear of being bullied or trolled like it costantly happens on the most of internet cxommunities. It may never become a 100000 people flash mob on the streets, or an infamous and mysterious organization like Anonymous, but it's important nonetheless.

On a second OOT note, i see Robo a lot around here. Can't say i like your methods, but gotta respect your dedication.

A place to go to when I'm bored? (being honest here)

I guess it's a place I go to to talk to people. Most people around me either take pity in my problems, or don't care about me at all. Here, I can get impartial adice from people. So basically, this is a place that I bitch and moan on, and people will try to help me (or shut me up, whichever comes first.)

The Dollars are a recent Obsession I have gained. Whether someone whose life philosophy is effectively Obsession being obsessed with the Dollars is good for the Dollars is up to you to decide.

The Dollars to me originally was to help people, it’s still the same but now it is to make friends but not fully ever really know them.

A place to belong, I guess. I spent so long trying to find somewhere I'd fit in but I never even considered here...

A place to go when you are bored I suppose. When I saw how interesting and quirky a lot of the people on here where I was hopeful it may at least be interesting.But then you run into the self proclaimed board "cleansers" who are more than forward with demanding people oblige by the rules, look I know you're probably reading this and I definitely don't have issue with what you're trying to do but quite frankly your both tightwads. Chill the fuck out, if all you go on here to do is to aggressively assert the rules on a place with little to no moderation I'm sorry but why are you surprised it's a hopeless endeavor? But that's just the issue with unmoderated boards like this. You're completely free to go off on people for simple mistakes. Go ahead and vent at undeserving people I guess. And far beyond that because those two (or more?) are far from the only people on here with an extremely negative attitude. I was hopeful but I should've realized what half anarchist places like this bring. Oh well it is what it is and at the very least the chatrooms are fun.

If you're talking about me, I hope you realize how much recent activity was in reaction to the single event of having someone impersonate another user, even going to the extent of accusing the actual user of impersonating themselves.

In general I've learned a sort of apathy with this site, people here can be cruel and that's just the nature of it. Can't say it's easy to take but oh well. Like I said, it is what it is. Had high hopes then realized I probably shouldn't have. I'm more used to tighter knit communities that are supportive and kind I should probably get used to people be cruel yeah?

Anyways, just my take on it. The chatrooms are fun when bored though, people aren't mean there often either.

This is one of the reasons that I keep coming back here is to face different kinds rudeness in order to become an emotionally and socially stronger person. lol

Dollars to me, it's what game me reason to live. Among the bbs and the chat site where I met many people, good and bad, ones that stayed and ones that left. I wouldn't be alive today if I had never found the Dollars. I love the Dollars.

The Dollars is great, and everyone seem so nice so far no one seem to be rude or anything, but the Dollars are colorless and don't have any rule apply at all..

I'm indifferent about the current state of the Dollars. The concept as a whole is something I love, but it's certain people who drive me away. I think it needs reformation, but I already tried that once and lost my influence soon as I attained it. Truth is, people are just going to do what they want.
What I admire about the Dollars is how invisible it is, and all there is a person either on the chat or the BBS is their personality, and that's all that really matters. The mysteriousness and the anonymity piques my interest so much, it's rad. I salute it.

To me it used to just be a place where I could entertaining myself by messing with people on the Discord. But it's starting to seem more whole than I thought previously. So I'm not sure what it really means to me yet. But we'll see. :)..

I think that the Dollars is a peaceful place where you can say anything you want even if you do not have the right person for you, and everyone always welcomes you

To me the dollars is a place where I can unwind. Many of the people here are kind and willing to listen to people who are hurting and help them. I think this is also a wonderful place to find friends to help press the time. I hope someday the dollars can become a bigger organization that not only helps people but the world as well. Though I'm sure many people see that as a far fetched dream.

That Shiro you're talking to probably wasn't here anymore man, everyone eventually forgot about this site's existence until they somehow remembers it again and make a comeback. Most cases happened in the span of years, so good luck with that. Tip, check the timestamp of the post you're questioning before you attempt to communicate with them.

to me the dollars is a place where people can come to make their lives more interesting and productive. I know I came here for that reason. I always felt like I wanted to be in the anime Durarara because it was so interesting. I remember when I discovered this place. it was the best feeling iv'e had in a while. honestly i am so glad that this place exists because it makes me feel much happier than I would be without it.

It might sound shitty. But it makes me feel free of judgement. Since people dont know me, they dont know the things ive done, things ive said, things ive seen. Which in some way brings me comfort because whenever im with people irl, everything seems fake. Like a show,fake smiles, fake compliance. But with the dollars, no one has a reason to be fake.
I know its stupid, but theres a strange sort of comfort in not feeling lied to
