Hey guys! I've recently joined up on this site, and noticed a lot of other people have too, which got me curious. A question to those both old and new to this site, what lead to you finding out and eventually becoming a part of the Dollars?
P.S. In my case, it was through a post on Reddit.com/r/anime that brought this website to my attention :P

I started wondering whether or not a fan had actually created a dollars site while rewatching an episode of drrr!, since I had fallen asleep the first time i watched it, and decided just to google 'the dollars'. And voila, this website turned up.

The DRRR wiki mentions the existence of real-world Dollars sites. I assumed for a very long time that they would be just dumb fan sites to be avoided at all costs.
But I started writing a book that's in large part about online communities, so I started exploring these different sites I know so I can make the main characters' online world come to life. One site chosen was this site.
And now, look at this. Not a dumb fan site. A place that makes me proud to call myself a Dollar.

I was wondering if a page like this existed. When I watch an anime, I take on points or likenesses of it. Yeah I'm a little screwed up in the head. I have a hard time seperating fantasy from reality sometimes. Example: After watching Soul Eater, my OCD got worse and symmetry was added to the mix. Well, I recently got into Durarara and absolutely loved it, then when I looked up the theme tune on YouTube, somebody had posted a link to the dollars. I was amazed it was real because I'd thought before about how awesome the dollars are and how cool it would be to be a part of something like that

Hi! I just watched durarara and I simply loved the idea of the website, and I got really excited when I read that people have been trying to replicate it. The idea of being able to talk about whatever is on your mind feels quite refreshing, I'd say. With how much we try to fit into our society, we really have to suppress our thoughts and ideals in order to not become outsiders. Being able to freely write whatever is on our mind and publicize it anonymously is kind of therapy, in a way. I dunno, maybe that's just me...

I was in the second season of Durarara when I decided to look up "dollars". I just had a hunch that the dollars existed. I got into Durarara!! Years ago and messed around meeting people a lot back then. But a horrible troll kept commenting hateful cruel things whenever I posted and I had to leave the site. But here I am! 6 yrs later, wow. I'm an adult now and just got my first job a few months ago. I couldn't help but flash back to that episode where Nishijima I believe interviews all of ikebukuro, and whIle interviewing dollars a few people mention that it's hard to find new people to interact with as you get older, especially nice people, which is exactly how I feel. My high school life was full of awful people that didn't stick around, but on here there's always a chat room or thread to join, and I don't feel so lonely :)
