Well, sadly it is always subjective. Sometimes, lies are crucial, in order to avoid conflicts / misunderstandings. However, a study (sorry have no link) showed that people who didn't even spoke a small lie were in all aspects healthier than others. But it is just one study.
Anyways, if you are asking the question for your own sake, just do the experiment yourself and see the result.

I say it always depends on a situation but honestly its better to be honest. It helps solve the issue faster.

We learned about honesty and integrity - that the truth matters... that you don't take shortcuts or play by your own set of rules... and success doesn't count unless you earn it fair and square.

I think is better be hones, but sometimes it's impossible. Sometimes is better lie.

Depends on the situation, sometimes lieing a=can help someone, sometimes the truth could kill a person, but never the less, it is up to the person to decide whether or not, that lieing or being honest are ok. In a way, its like yin & yang, for truth, you must have a lie, for lie, you must have a truth.

i have to agree with JackDenkin i think it all just depends on the situation your in.

Depends on your own particular morals.
I personally go by a code of "Go for it if it doesn't hurt anyone else" or "Don't do it if it hurts someone else".
So my attitude towards lying is that it's fine as long as it detracts from nobody, and if you can keep someone from getting hurt by lying then by all means.

Some ethical arguments would argue otherwise (for example, the philosopher Immanuel Kant said that if a man came up to him asking him where his father is so he could kill him, the ethical thing to do would be to tell the killer as lying is fundamentally wrong) but a lot of these ethical arguments are grounded in basic philosophical principles that don't exactly perform too well when road tested.

I personally think it depends alot on the situation.
But I don't mean that you should lie for the sake of not hurting someone else. I believe that, as long as it doesn't ruin your relation with that person, or that person's relation with someone else, it's fine. Go for it.

Of course, like with everything else I feel there is an exception. Such as if someone you know is in an abusive relationship but won't admit it themselves, or if you've seen someone's partner cheating on them.

Why do people lie? It isn't only because they struggle against each other, it's also because there is something that they're seeking. People lie to survive. No one is blameless.

Lieing could mean you were to scared to face the truth but is running away always so bad? sometimes we have to learn to accept how we cant always win and in the end it may have been for the best. the turth may find its way back to you one day but maybe by then youll be strong enough to face it.

honest. that way you'll know who will leave and who wont. who cares and who doesnt. i just experienced this a few hours ago. haha. . .lost a friend who i considered a sister. but really, as much as it hurts, i'm glad i'm being honest. it made me realize who my true friends are and who are just friends to survive in college.

When you're honest, you aren't only being true to others, but to yourself as well. It helps you understand who you are and your place in this crazy world. Liars are cowards. I'm a coward. We lie to others and to ourselves to make us feel better. Selfish.. honesty is the way to go.

Well it depends, doesn't it. I generally vote for being truthful, and I try to be - if moral reasons do not concern you, it's simply easier. Truth is, as shocking as it may be to some, easier than lie. That is not to say that, in certain situations, lies are not only useful, but sometimes even inevitable.

Of course be honest is better, but sometimes a LITTLE lie couldn't hurt. If you are in a situation like:you are talking to your friend about exams grades, he/she tells you that he/she got a bad grade, it's ok to tell that you gone bad like him/herself.

Okay, but if he/she finds out, he/she'll feel even worse for you pitying him/her ;)

But yeah, I agree with Watanabe! Basically telling your parents you're reading, ugh, just a /story/, nothing interesting, is better than telling them "I'm totally reading a really hot, smutty gay fanfiction." These so called white-lies are alright. I guess.

I feel it is a situational thing. It is a great quality to be honest, however, it is also necessary (depending on the situation)to be good at lying. Arisu~, i believe honesty is one of the best qualities to have because im not a very trusting individual and if a person can make it so i can trust them, i feel a deeper connection to them compared to someone who has regularly let me down on things that matter to me. Im no perfect individual either though, i have lied plenty of times to people, to either protect myself or someone i care about. This is a tough decision to make but i would have to side with being honest as being the better option.

It all depends on the situation. There are times where there is nothing you can do but be honest. Though there are times where the best thing to do is lie. There have been times where i was put in a situation where it was either tell the truth or lie. I chose to lie because it saved someone i know from pain and wasted time.

Always be honest, even when it may screw things up. Always be honest. Though, like some fellow Dollars have said, be good at lying.

I can never tell you to lie or not, it is bad (doesnt matter the circumstance/and yes what i say is what i live). But lying in the end, has never helped anyone, even if it means 35 years later, a little lie turns into a big issue. Its better to be honest, even if it means that it can ruin something in your life.

Lieing ussally is not good and dose not help any cercamstances but if you are in a situation like a war prisoner and you help some one escape and the gard asks how he escaped it would be alright to lie in that situation although it probably will get you killed if your bad at lieing if it is for the true greater good then it is not bad

I suppose you lie just has to be believable for it to not cause any trouble. Truth and Lie are just two sides of the same coin so showing which side is up to you. Neither is better nor worse than the other.
