What is honor? Does honor matter anymore?

2 Name: Aggie-tan : 2014-11-28 15:56 ID:xusYv8Bm [Del]

The definition of honor is "Self-respect" or "Esteem". And without either of those you could easily crash into depression. While some may think of honor as something that knights and samurais' in the ancient times needed, or it's off with their head, it's still needed today. So long story short, yes, honor does matter :3

Honor is subjective depending on the person.

For EX: Many soldiers over the years believed due to upbringing and customs that is was honorable to die in battle rather then to retreat, how in other general, others might think it's honorable to retreat sometimes so you can be there for your loved ones and live another day.

I will admit without any honor the world is hopeless, but to much honor can lead to hopelessness too. If you have to much honor you would be unable to do a lot of things because it would go against you code of honor, and that could result in people getting hurt because you weren`t able to do something because it was not honorable. without any honor everyone would be monsters and destroy without restraint or guilt. So you need a good balance. You need to be able to do thing un honorable but at the same time have enough honor to be a somewhat decent person.

I feel honor should matter. Even if we don't really apply honor to our everyday lives we do have a sense of honor as in justice, reputation. Keeping your rep is almost the same as keeping honor in the sense of doing almost anything to preserve your image

I believe in honor. I believe that in a fight you fight start to finish. Even if you can't win the fight, you lose standing up, never ever bowing down.

Honor is essential in probably everything, even in wars, because, wars are not about killing people, they are about property, pride, skills. Without honor, wars would lose it's meaning. I'm not saying wars are good, since conflict is human nature. Honor saves people. Honor saves knowledge. Honor saves the humanity in us.

It would be nice to have a Dollars' Code Of Honor! :)

I agree with Kannon. Honor is essential in everything, in humans themselves. I believe honoring yourself is just as important as honoring others. For example, people who don't honor themselves consider things like sucide, are insecure, and will let people do anything to them. In this case honor is INCREDIBLY important. I think honor is also very important to the Dollars in particular, because we want to help people and so in a way we work to protect people's honor. To show a person how valuable they are, to show them that there are people who are willing to stand up and fight for them. Honor is like a person's pride, dignity, and worth. To protect someone's honor and to have honor yourself is VERY important and INCREDIBLY needed in our society today, because soooo many people don't know how to respect and honor one another or themselves anymore, and that is a dangerous place to be.

Honor is important. I had a teacher that made us "pledge on our honor" for every test that we took. We had to write a pledge on the top of our paper every time pledging on our honor that that was our original work and that we didn't cheat. I never really cheated, so I just put, "I won't pledge on my honor, but this is my original work." She took points off of my test for not doing it -_- ...my grade turned into a sad mess...5 points...down...the drain T~T...

Honor is situational. Use it when it benefits you and discard it when it doesn't. Most times you won't need honor. An example is when the pandemic caused my area of schools to switch to online learning when we had to take test on our phones I Googled the answers. Honor means nothing to winning. History is written by the Victor's, if you lose with honor you have nothing. Honor is idealistic. Again, use it when it is convienet and discard it to win when the time comes. In this world honor will only get you so far.
