Gay Mafia; real or not? (11)

1 Name: Birdperson : 2014-07-21 17:50 ID:cbce3rKl [Del]

Wanted to know everyone's opinions on this.

Know that 'Gay Mafia' is a term used to describe homosexual persons with a heavy influence on things, whether it be in money, or media.

Refrain from imagining, like, those 'gangsters' from Westside Story. Not what I'm talking about.

Anyway, I want to know if you guys think this sort of thing is real. What with the overwhelming flood of tolerance in the Western world, gay folks have been everywhere, and gotten a lot of exposure. The problem is, that sometimes, when people speak against gay people, the repercussions are severe.

For example, after the first gay American football player was drafted into the NFL, a video of him kissing his boyfriend in celebration was showed. One fellow football player, posted on his Twitter account something along the lines of 'children are watching, cut it out'.

This football player promptly received DEATH THREATS.

These are what one would refer to as the Gay Mafia. These sort of things are happening more and more often.

Do you think the Gay Mafia is real, or is it just another phrase flung by the oppressors, to the oppressed? (i.e. Gay Agenda )

To a degree, I feel like this is probably a thing. Think about homosexual male partners... Two male pay checks. No children. As a family, they have the potential to have a great deal more money, and this *has* been seen before. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a legitimate organization behind the community. But, tbh, I think it's more or less that the LGBT group is just very close-knit and is always looking to help one another, especially when it comes to public figures they look up to. Anyway.

You know how people tend to move places en-mass? When one Polish family moves in, for example, they share that location with their other immigrant friends, and the town slowly fills with Polish people. That type of thing is a common occurrence and well known phenomena. This used to happen with the gays as well because of how tight-knit the LGBT community is/was. The money that would flow into these areas and the support that came with the communities helped to bring them out of rough patches.

I'll give an example from here in NJ. There have been a ton of cases like this around here (particularly through the 70's to late 80's), but Atlantic City is the most prominent. It used to be an extremely rough town that was being driven to the ground economically. It became complete slums during the last generation. However, it picked itself up again for a couple decades. It's commonly known around here that it was because several prominent gay couples moved there and brought their fellow community members. They started up all sorts of social projects and slowly built the city back up. Now it's a hot local and tourist spot along the shore that is greatly open minded. I don't think it's a coincidence that the recently elected mayor is gay or that he's opening up a gay beach.

The LGBT crowd has a lot more power than we like to admit. (The gays and trans moreso than the lesbians or bi, of course.) That's exactly why I think something like this does have the potential to be legitimate. Is it a full-fledged "Mafia" constantly working behind the scenes, though? Probably not.

How exactly is a couple of people sending Twitter messages a Gay Mafia?

I agree with >>6. I don't think this is exclusively gay people, I think it's an aspect of being a minority in general; you tend to group with like people when they aren't very many. And, when you are grouped together with a bunch of like people in a team, you obviously have more power than a collection of individuals.

I'd need some pretty amazing examples if I was going to believe in the Mafia idea.

During every large societal change of thought we encounter issues such as this. For every philosophical revolution that has occurred through out our history; whether it is an industrial, scientific, steam, electrical, iron, or religious, the reproductions will all be the same violent retorts.

The truth is, like our issues with race, and other cultures, this culture shift has now raised into its near peak of global recognition. The time of full scale change is occurring, and its scarring people; there will always be some who do not wish for change.

Yes there may be death threats, people write death threats all the time, both "sides" of this revolution are responsible. Some Supporting Evidence
The truth is nothing in the world is pretty and perfect, these death threats make this issue seem violent and disturbed, for both "sides".

Its the people who make the violence, and the people who raise hell that are responsible for the death threats, NOT THE PARTY THEY REPRESENT! Call out the person who made the threat, blame them for the over action, jumping to conclusions, or resorting to violent action.
