As of late its been quite difficult to upload content on sites like Youtube and make money off of it not to mention keep that content up. The reason is because content creators use small sections of something and put it in their videos in some way or another. Let it be boss music playing in the background of a gaming video or just talking about a song they heard, companies are causing a lot of problems for content creators. These content creators monetize the videos they upload to make money off of them and for many its their only form of income. And this isn't the problem. The problem is companies are filing disputes with these content creators, flagging their videos, stealing large portions of income from them, and just over all diminishing their way of income. Last time I checked copyright was created so that both people and companies don't hurt each other but it seems that companies are making cases about people who aren't even hurting their business in any way. These content creators use small sections of songs or video segments, often talking over them anyways and as a result the money they would have made from the video gets claimed by a huge rich company. If you ask me it seems like the people being really hurt by this are one, the content creators who just put videos out there to make people smile. And two, the people who wish to watch those videos. Big businesses are taking advantage of the content id system and using it to steal money from these people who have every right to make said content. Now, I understand using it to remove videos that go against the rules and regulations like uploading full episodes or something but this is just ridiculous. So I ask for the support of the dollars. Please, lets make it okay to post cover songs, gaming videos, product/song/game reviews, and relevant content online again. Let's put the " You " back into " YouTube " as an upcoming content creator I can only hope things get better. Please spread this message, make a video about this upload it to youtube share videos like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gP2VfcXmUEY anything to get the message across I know we can do it!

And do not be afraid to copy and paste this and post it to your blog, twitter, facebook, etc. We need to let these companies know they have no business bullying these content creators!

Wait, so what are you proposing people do?

If you make it legal to copy content, a whole different group of people will be manipulating it for equally greedy reasons.

Honestly the fact that big companies are doing this in the first place is stupid because it is taking away free advertising. why would they do that?

When uploading a video to youtube it goes against the terms of service if you use more than about 50 percent of already existing content unless you are promoting, reviewing, or parodying said content. On the other hand people who blatantly copy videos and upload them for the sake of views are yes, the ones breaking the rules. But they aren't the only ones being targeted. People who are following those rule are also being targeted I.E. people who produce covers/parodies of songs, or just gaming videos. Even networks are signing behind their content creators backs to third party companies and people who produce their own completely original songs are being targeted. Literally having their own creations stolen from them and then their income claimed as well. I mean not only are these businesses killing their free publicity they are hurting people who do this for a living.

All I am asking is to spread word of the issue and do your own research. Anything to let google/youtube know we wont put up with this and two they are being fooled by these companies who claim that they want the best for the youtube network and its content creators when it is so obvious that they couldn't care less.

http://www.youtube.com/yt/copyright/ the little muppet-like video does a great job explaining how fair use works. My whole point is people following these guidelines are being penalized and its just plain wrong.

Yeah! I'll spread this around! More people need to see this especially if they are involved with online content in any way! Let's save the internet?! Fight the power?! XD Who's with me?

Since The Dollars are a pretty transparent group I feel like we can spread this around among a wide array of places. A lot of the people on here have different interests and go to different places. Honestly, The Dollars are perfect for this sort of thing.

You could complain about it. Or you could just stop using YouTube, or other services that make you angry.

Most of the people this happens to don't ask for permission before using other people's content. If I made something, and someone else used it without asking, I wouldn't really care what they were using it for, I wouldn't like it.

Also, in the future >>6 >>8, we can all tell you are the same person. It's really obvious.
