Time Travel involving Quantum Mechanics (36)

1 Name: Soulysis : 2013-03-08 07:17 ID:f/cQ8rZg [Del]

Time Travel can exist on multiple planes, external travel, internal memory reverse, etc...all of the stuff constantly used in movies. However, Time Travel isn't restricted to the actual movement of particles through time. It also can be used to describe it's manipulation. Take for example shrodingers cat. The cat is in an ultimate position in which it can be any number of things including dead or alive. This can also be used to describe the past. If the past does act in such away, it would mean that our actions in the future(present) manipulate those in the past. So I could have broken my leg or not have when I was 5 depending on the questions or actions you do now. What do you believe in?

this is what i believe: think of the present as a strait line, then you have a choice to make and the time line divides into two, one timeline for each choice ever made. there are the number of divisions for the number of ways you could have handled the situation. each time you make a decision the timeline divides. time traveling is simply jumping back to a previous stage of time, before certain choices divided the time stream. it would be represented by a loop, if you were to map things out, and create a diverging point its self, a whole new time line for what happened when the time traveler arrived. in theory they all started from one single timeline, that starts around the big bang. Parallel worlds are not different universes, but in fact timelines different from our own, at the same 'present' as our selves.

google image for bracket, it kind of works like that. sorry i thought it would make more sense in my head

that came out wrong, it just made more sense in my head, sorry

I personally do not believe in time travel. I do, however, believe in parallel universes created by multiple factors and other dimensions. If time travel existed, it would, technically speaking, exist now. But since it does not exist now, or we have no real record of any of it occurring, we can either assume it never happens or there is another parallel universe (most likely a closed off paradox)where time travel is repeatedly invented and then, for some reason, repeatedly destroyed preventing it from ever existing in any other universe.
And yes,

Ahhh, but you should realize, that in a perfect world a time machine would never exist, because once someone has been sent back in time there would technicaly never been a time jump because the machine was used in an alternate timeline/reality

They could use the "Dragonball Z Theory" for when trunks did it.

It creates a new time line, and their original time line doesn't change.

Hasn't time travel already been spoken about here ? Wait a sec. lemme search

Here ya go, you could read the whole thread or just the 63rd post and below.

I managed to gather most theories in there, exept the one that I currently most agree on, the one that creates paralled universes or "Parallel Time-Lines" I also recommend "Steins;Gate" it's an anime about time travel explaining this theory.

I love time travel and paradoxes. Great topic, but physics disproves the dimension called "time" so unless physics is wrong (which there is a huge debate going on about (physics vs existentialism)) then time doesn't exist in the first place.

19 Name: Ranguna!bUMCaSNWgQ : 2013-03-08 17:32 ID:e3fHF0Om [Del]

time ∉ physics
Part of what you are saying doesn't make any sense.

20 Name: darkmickyangel : 2013-03-08 17:33 ID:Ws0Kw7n7 [Del]

how so?

21 Name: Ranguna!bUMCaSNWgQ : 2013-03-08 17:43 ID:e3fHF0Om [Del]

Oh, wait a sec, I was thinking in a totaly different kind of physics, not Quantum physics, nevermind what I said (random smily face).

(I was talking about force related physics, moving on.)

22 Name: DarkSoul : 2013-03-08 17:44 ID:1fdNlCCO [Del]

Well, some theorize that the world we live in is an active plane. Nothing such as time exists. Time is basically what humans created by gauging the passage of the sun, or by putting hands on a motor ontop of a faceplate called a clock. When you put it that way, it is quite easily seen how "time" might not even exist anywhere except in human minds and calculations.

23 Name: HAM : 2013-03-08 18:01 ID:3RInyoce [Del]

The word "time" does not exist, it was made, as how light was made and "darkness" itself does not exist, it just is. Like how time is "just is." That is the best way I can explain this considering I don't even studying physics, I just think this just randomly.

I am pretty sure there is nothing I can do now that can cause you to break your leg years ago.

Humans invented time travel centuries ago. It's called books.

This is what I always believed.

Also if you like time travel, and anime, watch steins;gate.

As for continuing the philosophically applicable uses for Schrodinger's cat. I, although atheist, have often gotten bored of watching people mock religion with scientific theory, and have taken great pleasure in trolling fellow atheists with the following.
God is said to work in mysterious ways, clearly if he exists he is attempting to run the show from behind the scenes and with minimal interference in mundane affairs, wanting to be believed in, but not discovered, wanting us to have faith without proof. That said he is also... Well god. He has limitless powers of creation, and observation.
This leads us to two possibilities.
1. there really is no god.
2. there is a god and there is no way to prove it, and any proof leading otherwise is caused by him.

the point of 'Schrodinger's cat' is that without being %100 sure of one possibility, it is scientifically sound to accept both at the same time. Thus to deny the possibility of god, is to deny scientific process.

I like to think that life is the box, we are the cat, and the question is, are we being observed by Schrodinger? We will never know until we leave the box. Is there more outside the box that we call life?

>>28 I agree, even though I'm an atheist I love all religions and almost anything religious for those reasons (and others), but not exactly all the followers.

If Time didn't exist, we'd not 'learn' anything. Think about it. If Time itself is really real, you only move forward and can't truly learn anything that people learned years before.

time traveling like in the anime noein is great, now i'm like studying quantum physics thats why its like 50 50 chance, its a nice range it might happen.

32 Name: mostmodest !eIZM0zi3QM : 2013-03-09 01:03 ID:vOJSrAza [Del]

You see, people assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but, actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint; it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff.

I love cat , especially Shrodinger's . I trust that Time is something more transparent than air . If we human can find a way to find out the relationship between space and time , then it will be an important improvement of us . Time Travel is good , but we better not to disturb it , it's rule of Science and God .

HOLY FUCKING SHIT! I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THIS!

I FUCKING BROKE MY WRIST! I TOTALLY FUCKING DID! Well, I actually didn't, BUT I FUCKING DID! Random enough? Perhaps not. This is my new excuse though. I have having wrist problems that seem to mean wrist damage of some sort, but I never hurt it. Perhaps this theory can come into play then. Something in the future (present) caused me to hurt my wrist in the past meaning it is now fucked up. MY MIND IS FULL OF FUCK BUT THAT MAKES BETTER SENSE THEN MY WRIST RANDOMLY HAVING TO BE PUT IN A WRIST BRACE FOR A MONTH!
