I wanna hear your opinions!!

2 Name: DoubleXtreme : 2013-01-11 22:43 ID:cYU5VH46 [Del]

if human still find profit in wars...there will be no peace

3 Name: K. : 2013-01-11 22:58 ID:uzk3j/ay [Del]

Nope, no. Not at all.

4 Name: Vallian : 2013-01-11 23:24 ID:Yb06BYkh [Del]

I believe that wars are never profitable, but necessary for a country's security. Even after the world is united under one flag, there will still be violence.

5 Name: Haruchan~~ : 2013-01-11 23:28 ID:oTIkb4dH [Del]

eh, well I think that there can't be true peace with out giving up freedom. after all, we need rules and restrictions to keep the peace and make sure everybody doesn't go out mass murdering.

We're reading 1984 in English class and we just discussed a topic similar to this. In the book, there are 3 slogans(only 2 of which apply to this thread):"war is peace", "Freedom is slavery" and "ignorance is strength". At first, these made absolutely no sense to me, how could war be peace and freedom be slavery? They're polar opposites! After thinking about this for a while, things finally clicked together piece by piece. When you're at war with another country, you probably won't be fighting a civil war as well. Also, if you're winning the war, you're going to be happy, right? Wars are times when everyone in a country gets together and fights to protect something. If you walk into a class and your teacher says "write an essay on anything and if you fail this, you fail the whole course" how would you figure out what to write about? You would be so caught up in figuring out what to write about, you wouldn't actually get anything done. Or if there where no lights in the streets, how long do you think it would take for someone to get into an accident and block the whole intersection? Without restrictions, no one can effectively use the freedoms we do have. Going back to the question at hand; I do not believe there is true peace and freedom in the world because, without it's opposite, it wouldn't exist.

i dont believe there is true peace in this world and heres why. everybody in the world has different ideals for what they would like to see the world as. while some may be similar and be able to coincide with the other... others will have either the opposite or a different ideal that cant exist if someone else's does. due to that people will always argue and/or try to suppress another's ideal and therefore not allowing peace.

There's no true freedom and peace even there is a rule for peace and quiet, It is the fault of the man for betraying them, even they have to make laws were just ending up for trouble.

in the other word
Every man has they're own rule.

They say we ave freedom of speech yet they have made it illegal to sing baa baa black sheep.....

11 Name: Junkori : 2013-01-12 06:54 ID:TegTUE4k [Del]

No this is all our fault. We do not see the future ahead of other generations. We leave is war and death behind our path. If we can see the future there is no war but only peace. for planet earth to have peace we need to stop fighting but to stop fighting we need to keep fighting. Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding.

I don't think so. Because of people. For us is fighting natural.

13 Name: Tsuki : 2013-01-12 14:49 ID:cM1vkpx1 [Del]

We'll never have freedom of speech because if we were truly free, the gouvernment wouldn't have any power to control us and the whole society would fall

14 Name: PKgod101 : 2013-01-12 17:32 ID:Naq1DuFl [Del]

Agree. People need to realize that "true" freedom can be a bad thing.

15 Name: Tsuki : 2013-01-12 17:42 ID:cM1vkpx1 [Del]

Indeed, we always fight for freedom but we can also lose our humanity with this total freedom thing. ^^

17 Name: C. : 2013-01-12 18:09 ID:gR9hhQFE [Del]

I don't think so. But if there was I would hope it would spread.

18 Name: Shiro : 2013-01-12 18:59 ID:yZY/nWNS [Del]

Sadly due to our human nature there will never be true 100% freedom or peace, we are in fact pack oriented animals; we want a leader. Here is where freedom comes in though, we want to be said leader. There are a couple other issues with the whole total freedom idea. Without something to govern and make sure people follow generally accepted moral rules there would be conflict between people which counters peace, but with total control, you know "Big Brother", people take issue with that and make conflict with "Big Brother". Which once again counters peace. Humans can't have total freedom and total peace the two are mutually exclusive. There is a balance that we have yet to find with control and freedom that would create peace. First we need to solve non-human condition problems first, hunger, poverty, religion, etc. Once all that is stabilized some modicum of peace will fall into place. Much of the populace wants peace just they feel they need something from someone else who doesn't want to give it up, that's the cause of most wars. That also includes religion and ideals. Once we solve that then we can work on how much freedom is too much, or too little. There is a happy medium, we just need to find it.

19 Name: Shiro : 2013-01-12 19:13 ID:yZY/nWNS [Del]

That is with the whole of humanity, small groups can govern themselves as well as an entire country, look at some families. They have their quarrels sure but if the family works it's because that happy medium has been reached, it's just harder for larger groups hence why it hasn't happened yet for the entirety of the human race. A group of friends do the same thing, typically when one person in the group does something wrong the other chide him or her for it, that being the punishment. If that person keeps doing it they ostracize him, which is effectively jail or execution if it's bad enough for that group. If someone does something good then it's opposite they get praised for it and sometimes there is a clear leader and sometimes not, sometimes the leader swaps several times during the course of the day. So it is shown we can reach a general peace with little issues, just it will be very difficult to have everyone content with it. Compromise will probably not get us there as "A good compromise leaves everyone angry" in order to get there we will need to destroy the infrastructure of this planet and remake it entirely anew.

How in the fucking world does shit without a very good 'descriptive' opening post even get 19 posts on main? I mean, OP, you should create yours discussions more properly. By that I mean it should have more than just a fucking sentence.

>>21 It gave a question to answer and discuss. It doesn't need anything else really.

>>21 I agree with dxb. You don't necessarily need a lot in order to discuss something in depth, for example this topic with just that one sentence can be very engaging like with my response to it, though I decided to talk about more than just the question but still.

Peace is something you feel at your most "peaceful" times. I strongly believe that there is no peace in this world because as long as we're loving, hate will exist. I'm sure people have heard of "As long as there is love, there is hate." and "Love is hate; hate is love."
My friend once told me that if peace were to happen, then that's when the world and humanity will end. So I suppose we can never live without war and we can never fully live in peace but our pure feelings towards each other is pretty much all we need.

>>24 I agree. There is no true peace in the world. Peace, is a state of mind that transcends hummanity. Even if it seems a person seems like he's living a perfect life, if he doesn't feel at peace, then there is no peace for him. And of course we are humans, so we try our hardest to change something we don't like. That's all the greatest and worst moments of history took place. It defines the good and the bad. "Peace" can only be determined by one self and whatever satisfies there state of mind. That's why society is the way it is now. But, wed all know there are things society MUST do to survive, which I think most of us know is not happening! That's what I think the dollars are for. To ensure that theses things are done and that we see them through to the end.

This isn't random. This is Main. Main isn't some place where you toss in a sloppy, shit-formatted post and think it's good. It's far from it.

There's just huge scale of opinions, so I guess it's impossible to find "global consensus". It's like an orchestra with instruments that are unable to find harmony.

What the fuck is wrong with the title. Why the fuck is there a hyphen where there CLEARLY SHOULD NOT BE A HYPHEN? Seriously, stop posting thinly disguised homework questions as meta-serious topics of discussions on Main, you fucking jerkasses. You are all morons and I WANT YOU TO DIE.

Law = Order
Chaos = Freedom

To be free, there would be chaos. To be in peace, in order, there would be law. Law is the portal to the antithesis of freedom, and chaos is the portal to the antithesis of order.

You know what would be really facinating to talk about?

Pizza.

I mean, if you think about it, pizza is fucking amazing. There is just such a ridiculously high number of combinations of toppings you can have on it.

How did we get from peace and freedom to pizza? I'm not understanding the connection between the two... Well, i guess without pizza this thread would still be arguing on whether or not this is a legit thread making chaos which is opposite of peace therefore proving there is no true peace. So i guess we owe the peace on this thread to pizza...
