The Real World vs. The Fantasy World (The Truth vs. The Lie) (191)

1 Name: Merico : 2012-04-20 20:41 ID:ucv3bGpo [Del]

A few days ago I was crying over something (can't really remember), and when i felt a little bit better, i wrote myself a letter (if you want to read it reply to this *post*. it said "Do you feel better in reality or your fantasy world". in my mind personally, i feel better in the fantasy world, but then again the fantasy world will never come true. Despite that, I'm still in my fantasy world. Why? Because it makes me feel more safe and secure. And I don't have to worry about anyone reaching me.

How do you feel about this?
What world do you feel safer in?
The Real World or The Fantasy World.
Your choice.

PS: If you want to know why I came up with this post, watch Durarara episode 17.

2 Name: Yummy !Pi3pQNBL/E : 2012-04-20 21:05 ID:qKVEoxOe [Del]

Hey, I feel the exact same way you do. I have to agree that I do feel safe in my fantasy world. Basically, I use it to get away from my worries. I believe it's not healthy because I am living in Reality, but it's okay to run away from it from time to time. You just have to be aware of your surroundings.

Since I don't have any good friends in reality, I created two imaginary best friends in my fantasy world who will never betray my feelings. They support me in reality and give me hope for a next day. :)

6 Name: kortney : 2012-04-20 22:49 ID:2GK9Ex+0 [Del]

i personally have lived in my fantasy world ever since my dad died in 2006....
i felt noone understood how i felt and eventually shut myself off from the world,my close friends, and my family.. the real world sucks "The Fantasy World Rocks" the only friends i have are my cats and dogs.

7 Name: ZIG : 2012-04-20 22:57 ID:fMYkM5bA [Del]

if you ask me the real world and the fantasy world are of equal value because as much as we do live our day to day lives in the real world that doesn't mean we have to accept and acknowledge everything that goes on around us thus creating our own little almost fantasy world within the real world incedently this is why i started watching anime as a way to seperate fantasy from reality cause don't get me wrong i love living in a fantacy world but its always interesting to see what both sides have to offer if that didn't make sense then durarara episode 20 the first like 10 min or so is pretty much my opinion on this

and also i like reality it can be very interesting and fun to play with in an almost fantasy like way but thats just my opinion

8 Name: Shiyo !hiBXn.e9Tw : 2012-04-20 23:14 ID:3EXKNdN3 [Del]

Not to sound particularly depressed or anything, but I'd prefer the fantasy world to the real world anyday. Basically because I can't connect to the real world, whether I try or not.

It is impossible to connect to that of what you do not understand. I might exist here, but all I ever seem to do is float in and out of it. I get ignored when I participate in the real world. And thus it is easier to exist in a shell where the world that you live in is the one where you feel most accepted.

However, though I might love to exist in the fantasy world, it is but a fantasy. We can't deny that we live in this world, and thus the realistic answer to this question would to be wanting to exist in the real world. But as >>1 mentions, I would feel safer in a world where I could feel accepted, even though I know that deep down, the world that I choose to live in is non-existent. And basically, if the fantasy world that I lived in became real, then I'd definitely choose the real world. But until then, I'll stay in my fantasy.

But the fantasy that most of us would choose to live in is like the construct of a prison. We immerse ourselves in this world, where we can be anything that we want, and when we emerge and have to face things that we don't like, it can restrict us. So the fantasy can be a prison. But I'd choose it over the real world any day.

tl;dr The fantasy world feels safer, even though it's not going to help us do anything in life, and the real world is only for those who realise that the fantasy world is only that: a fantasy

Thanks guys, this really helps me out with a lot of thinking. :)

10 Name: WriterK : 2012-04-22 17:32 ID:z0WQY5Hr [Del]

I love my fantasy world that I won't lie about
but sadly we must know that the fantasy world is (as >>8 said) what it is: a fantasy.
However that little bit of 'reality' won't keep me from going back to my fantasy world when I'm bored or depressed
So as for me I'll keep my eyes and ears in fantasy but my feet in reality

To get away from stress, and life sometimes, I get on the Internet. Oddly enough, what helps, is reading up on real life events, on the net.

12 Name: shadowblade : 2012-04-22 18:09 ID:twX1x2Tl [Del]

Oh definately in my fantasy world even though it will never come true I just feel safer and better.

13 Name: Fluffy : 2012-04-22 18:37 ID:+Fl2h0If [Del]

Fantasy hands down!
The Real world can be so taunting and crude. (although I get paid in the Real world)
But I don't stay in my fantasy forever, cause I'm afraid it may leak out and into the Real world.
But still~!!

14 Name: Rikko^^ : 2012-04-22 18:41 ID:cBr+BN4H [Del]

I'd say fantasy; it's easier to live in a world where you can do anything, than have the limit to what you can do here and now. :/ But, we all can't just "live" there, as much as I'd love to, we all eventually have to come back to reality.

15 Name: kaitou k. : 2012-04-22 20:31 ID:B4fpI20c [Del]

I'm kinda torn between both but them again I'm more bitter and misanthropic in reality then I am am in my fantasy world. It'd be nice I fantasies came true but most of mine are highly improbable and I don't put much hope into it. I'd like to believe I'm a realist with a bit of idealism left in me...Just buried deep down inside

16 Name: KuroNiken : 2012-04-22 20:39 ID:4VuOqbBo [Del]

We can make a fantasy in real world, well not fantasy like magic or any else, but at least we can do something about it...

17 Name: Uma : 2012-04-23 00:24 ID:rV7zP0Sn [Del]

I like my fantasy world but i'm scared of both. So i don't have a place to escape to when i want to.

18 Name: Sabishii : 2012-04-23 00:33 ID:Z53MCiSM [Del]

I used to thrive in the fantasy world, but the more I became attached the harsher my reality crashed down on me. Fantasies aren't something you can physically latch unto or receive necessary support from. So when you are exposed to reality, it hits harder then it would the more you withdraw from it. Either way, I think It's better to live in reality, there's just a thrill of life and new stories to be found and told. Love life, love humans, in the end I find myself agreeing with Izaya, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Ciao!

19 Name: Maaku-san : 2012-04-23 02:32 ID:Ex90zRJQ [Del]

Reality is a safe refuge for those of us who have problems in the harsh reality of life. Escapism may be good at times, but as you become more attached to the fantasy world, it becomes harder to bring yourself back to reality. I myself escape to my own fantasy world at times, but I only stay there long enough to pull myself together.

20 Name: Ruri : 2012-04-23 03:15 ID:uOzLBZne [Del]

Don't you find it highly ironic that we compare reality and fantasy, when fantasy itself is a mere fragment of creation from reality?

We can never really compare reality to fantasy. Most likely, reality will win over fantasy. But I prefer fantasy haha. Sorry, ironic much?

... We can't help but escape sometimes though. Reality is harsh. We can say fantasy is momentary refuge, but sooner or later we have to face reality!! :DD

I usually go on the Internet if I feel stressed or just to escape real life problems. Unfortunately I'm a very cynical person and I the idea that reality looms over all of us, also in a way kills my online life.
The Internet is basically an escape route.

23 Name: Kazuma !GCYh5GqLVY : 2012-04-23 10:59 ID:uDxdWk06 [Del]

I feel a lot better about things when I am in my 'fantasy world.' It is still in a way reality, but a reality where you can escape from the things that bother you. I'm not trying to say I have the worst life and I know there are people out there going through worse, but it's not exactly the greatest. When I'm in my fantasy world I can pretend that it's all right and that I'm okay.

24 Name: Kazuya Shibuya : 2012-04-23 11:02 ID:utkNWREh [Del]

There are multiple problems out there. If the fantasy world was real then what chaos do you think the world would be in???

25 Name: Yummy !Pi3pQNBL/E : 2012-04-23 11:11 ID:9qhvVdbt [Del]

>>24 I can tell the difference between reality and fantasy. I don't want to merge them together because of course the world will be in chaos. Sometimes, I just don't like to deal what's in reality right now.

Sure, it's safe in the fantasy world, but it'll soon be torn down by reality. I'm writing a story about it right now and it is not going too well with my characters. lol!

26 Name: Sketchy fox : 2012-04-23 12:24 ID:yz97smOL [Del]

I'd prefer my fantasy world over the real world. I't helps pretend that i have purpose and a real choice over my so called life.

27 Name: DarrenStar : 2012-04-23 13:35 ID:fc34Ivok [Del]

I feel safer in the real world, I don't understand why but in my fantasies I am being challenged or hunted so they don't feel safe. If I had to take a guess the reason for this is I enjoy a challenge and my subconcious is trying to comfort me and so it gives me a challenge without realizing that I will see it as both a challenge and a threat. Besides no matter how comforting the fantasy there is always a threat in the background, even if all it is for most is the chance of insanity.

The real world is always blunt. It is always the straight-forward facts. It can never be changed. Everyone else is going into further depth than I choose to. My fantasy world is not really something I would like everyone to know. I keep more of it hidden than my real world. Since over half of my real world is hidden to everyone else, basically meaning my history, about 90% of my fantasy world is hidden. It might even be closer to 99%.

All I have to say is this. My fantasy world has things that will never happen in it, but will always be there when I'm at my worst. The people in there care about me no matter what and will except me no matter what. It is a good place to hide, but there are parts of my real world that are irreplaceable. The real world is more fun because I have to work for what I want, and, to tell you the truth, I like the challenge. I enjoy fighting for what I want. I don't want everything handed to me on silver platter as it is in my fantasy world. Besides, it always feel better when the people comforting you are real.

You may not be able to truely escape reality physically but mentally all your fantasies become reality and reality becomes a fantasy so ask yourself what world do you really reside? Because if you want your dreams and your hopes to be true simply let go of the past.......

35 Name: The Doctor : 2012-04-24 09:51 ID:jX/zEJgl [Del]

What is the real world anyway? is it what other people tell you what it is? Is it the world as you see it? Is the "real world" everything bad that happens to you? Is it something that a society creates?
What is a fantasy world? Is it something that others tell you is impossible? Is it the only world where good things happen? Is it something that society deems you cannot have?

The real world and fantasy world are a mix, reality is what you make it. We have the ability to do so much with our lives, almost unlimited, but society puts a smaller limit on it, saying "no, you can't do that!" and we label it as a fantasy. Cynics look at people who are happy, and say "They're not living in the real world" and try to bring them down.
I say, there is no difference between fantasy world and the real world, (aside from physics and myths)that you can do anything you put your mind to. Besides, without "fantasy" you would never excel and reach beyond our own potential

Reality is my best friend; still, I rarely feel the need for something extraordinary. I don't think its a bad thing; it sparks a lot of ideas. Just how close can I bring my fantasies to reality? That very thought is my personal salvation from my fantasies.

39 Name: Saz : 2012-04-24 20:33 ID:/PaGZcjR [Del]

41 Name: Saso : 2012-04-25 00:19 ID:GjzsMjjc [Del]

For me, the only reason I can deal with the real world is because of my fantasy world. My fantasy world is what helped me grow as a person in order to become mature enough to handle the real world. I know it sounds weird but that's how it is.
I usually keep my fantasy world completely separate from my own life, but I can't help but indulge when I have a quiet moment to myself.

42 Name: hetalia.france : 2012-04-25 05:37 ID:C4tdEkfr [Del]

43 Name: Ren Saotome !NdKiKQZtAI : 2012-04-25 06:15 ID:0esphhZe [Del]

I prefer the fantasy world over the real world, because the real world is harsh. After you're in middle school, adults tell you to grow up and act mature. After you graduate high school, you're expected to get a job. If you say the wrong thing to some one important, then you might just lose something important.
In the fantasy world however, you can decide whether to have responsibilities or not, and you can also decide on how everyone looks and reacts. I would choose fantasy any day.

44 Name: Ryuzaaki123 : 2012-04-25 08:14 ID:7g5TcgXh [Del]

If people lived in a world where everything was perfect I doubt we'd be humans anymore. In fiction a writer is unlikely to be able to write too in-depth about a character who's smarter than his or herself (unless they do so by accident - like a child who accidentally says something cute :3).
We know Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote Sherlock Holmes, a calculating machine who has inhuman powers of observation, but we all know that Conan, the God of the Sherlock Holmes Universe, was orchestrating all the events so Homes would notice everything important. The real world can create unexpected events, and it can become boring in a world where you'll face no real opposition. I think that most of the people who visit here know about DRRR!! so I'll use an example from there - Izaya loves humans so he plays with them (as sick and twisted as he may be...) by putting them in different situations. You can probably go into a game and download a mod which allowed your character to jump 10 meters high and visit another world, or even imagine a variety of situations you could get in an anime or storybook, but you'll always be limited by your own intellect.
Fiction and fantasies still are good to think about, since they help you think about how you think how the world should be - when children grow up they can separate Harry Potter from reality but they know that Harry was still a good kid. It's fun and harmless as long as you don't retreat completely into it and become delusional. It'd just be an excuse for madness.

>>41 Exactly how I feel! :)

46 Name: Ziel-san : 2012-04-25 12:40 ID:cyXratFL [Del]

I have my fantasy world because I usually can't cope with the real world. I find happiness and serenity in fantasy, that's why it's important to me. As much as I want my fantasy to be real, I know it's impossible so I focus my life into the real world. Truth be told I hate the real world, all my problems are there and most of them I can't face. But sometimes the real world teaches me things that I know I can't learn unless I have experienced it, that's why it is important to me. So, in conclusion, both worlds are important to me...
My fantasy world is what keeps me sane so that I can keep on living in the real world. This world is where I can escape from my problems, and sometimes, this is also where I find the solution to it. I find myself liking the real world because I know without the trials that I have experienced in life, I wouldn't be the person I am now. I know it kinda contradicts what I said concerning the real world but I truly think both of them are important and I can't live with just one.

I'd say that fantasies are like illusions, if you put enough faith in them, they will become true. But now and then, not in your current life, but maybe the next. Ya' know, the universe is a library with no end to it

48 Name: Vincent Slider : 2012-04-25 15:22 ID:DGSRjKnC [Del]

I can't have a fantasy world, I'm just too objective as a person. I may have fantasies that last a few moments, but nothing that would constitute for an entire realm of existance.
I focus on what's real to influence the world around me to what I want. Not always successful tho.

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with having your own fantasies, it's your life do what you want. I do have a fantasy world I like to go to sometimes, but when reality is something we can never escape from, even in fantasy. We have no choice but to face it head on.

52 Name: Zero : 2012-04-26 21:20 ID:iuXzgy+o [Del]

To be honest... My reality life is tough... but in my fantasy its just as tough. My brain is nutty... I think of things at random... My fantasy realm is one where imagination is unbound. Just... I can't keep on one track of thoughts... I love my fantasy world though.

I'm neutral so...

53 Name: Mocha : 2012-04-26 22:56 ID:gTYbNI8+ [Del]

What if we mixed the two? It would form a truth and a lie. In my opinion, reality is tough, and it's up to us to put a fantasy in it. The 'truth' which is reality cause our 'lie' which is our fantasy. So, even if you went to live in your fantasy world, if your reality didn't exist then neither would your fantasy. No matter how lame my reality life is, how tough, how heartbreaking, I'd stay in it. Sure, I'd think of escaping, but I'd always stay in reality, because lies can't fix truths, can they?

(am I making sense? Sorry if I'm not)

Reality does have it's points but, a fantasy world would be more funner. As we all know, some people don't like reality. Its always going to be personal reasons why you hate it. But then again, what if the fantasy world just gets boring? I like to excape reality or (the real world) also. But, you can't always want to go inside a fantasy world. Because the world isn't a fantasy it's real and it sucks.

If it was up to me, I would say fantasy. Why? Because I hate reality and reality hates me. ^_^

In a way I've always lived in both. When I was little and something seemed too boring I use to create a more interesting story behind the tedious task. Like if I was listening to some boring meeting I'd pretend that it was briefing for a top secret mission and things like that. Sometimes I still do that, so my fantasy and reality are a bit blended together. But I prefer the fantasy and imagination that is part of my reality~ ;D

This is to the doctor you say doctors or such try to bring happy people down but who's to say a fantasy can't be bad i mean someones fantasy could be the death of millions or so, if that person was to fantasise about the death of people the doctor shant help him?

67 Name: Eneliph : 2013-02-01 09:46 ID:HyIxJPSc [Del]

For me, I enjoy part of the reality, but most of the time I'm in the 'alternate society' I make up. Because it contains all that I can't have or do in reality, so I feel a security in it. The imaginary characters within, though, are still me, so I end up facing myself. What are you doing here? They ask.

Another thing: In reality, events unwind and can't be retracted
and someone else is pulling the strings. In fantasy, I can rewind, replay, and redo everything, and I orchestrate everything.

So I feel safe in fantasy, but the reality is always there.

id have to say in a fantasy. You can just be you and not have to worry about being judged so much. Though being completely emersed in fantasy can be troublesome. So, its probably best to have a balance of the two.

I would say that they are equally important because fantasy can affect it more than you think. Belief is integral to success. Flying was fantasy till the Wilbur brothers believed they could create the plane. I'd say that value both as parts of yourself.

75 Name: Chaos!pu0wB35y1Q : 2013-02-26 14:45 ID:BeJ4fpN1 [Del]

I feel that both are equally important. While you do have to face the real world, fantasy is something that is and will always be yours. No one can ever take it from you, or get to you. You can't fully escape reality, but on bad days, I've been able to completely immerse myself in my own world, until I was ready to fully deal with and accept what was going on. It was a controlled vacation from life, one that didn't affect me at all, it only gave me the time I needed to process everything. I was able to be me, me in my entirety, and no one would've been able to take that from me. As much as we live in reality, I think a lot of us need fantasy even more.

#1 i feel indifferent

#2 hmm what world do i feel safer? well only obvious answer is the fantasy that's because in the fantasy world is you own reality
you can hardly be hurt in your own reality...thus you feel safer right?.....and if my answer was reality.....well that would depend on what kind of life i'm living..which is well neither bad or good or should i just say normal

The Lie will mostly be better that truth

you can't always Lie

One day you'll realize you have to tell the truth

even though you feel sometimes safe when you lie

but you always feel something that's eating you up

until you can't take it anymore.....

and once you wake up in the Lie you call fantasy you'll realize

Fantasy will always be the safest World to be in then reality
and that is Why i feel So indifferent about answering this question...the fact that the answer is obvious

so what i'm saying is i am not particularly interested
in answering the fact everybody knows the answer To the Question

Lying to someone is Bad

Lying to yourself is even worst <(^_^<)

For me the fantasy and reality blur. I feel like I live in fantasy. A different world to everyone else. They don't see the same things, hear the same sounds that I do. I wait for the person that can enter my world.

Lately I realized all my life is dreaming and not just mine, I think most os the people live like this, but there is a reason of it becouse if somethig become "real" it's lose something and you gona dream and going deeper in your dream. So I afraid I never gona be the mighty hero or something like this becouse if I would live in a fantasy world than I would be also lazy..

My fantasy lives in my reality, if that makes sense. Everywhere I go, somehow I fit in features from my fantasy life (subconsciously), which in turn makes it seem real. My real life is my fantasy life, sort of. And whenever I'm having a bad day, I tune out the real world, and the fantasy world eagerly comforts me. Guilty pleasure, if you will.

I like a slight mix of both. enough real world to keep contact with my friends but enough fantasy world to block out the pain and suffering the real world brings. How do i achieve this? I simply ignore the things i don't want to see or hear and lie to myself about these things. later i deal with these problems in my own ways.

As for me...I like a mix of both, although my mind automatically adjusts to the fantasy world instantly, compared to the real world. And like many who have responded, I block out pain or shut myself away from the world in my own fantasy world. At least in the fantasy world, it's up to you, yourself, and your imagination. :)

THERE'S NO OTHER WORLD LIKE FANTASY..
FANTASY ARE USUALLY IDEAS CAME FROM THE WORLD WE LIVE IN..

IF YOU REALLY LIKE FANTASY AND HAVE A GREAT IMAGINATION..
THEN YOU SHOULD WRITE A BOOK..
AND YOU CAN FELL LIKE YOU ACHIEVE SOMETHING RATHER THAN IMAGINING IT..

FOR THOSE WHO RUN AWAY FROM REALITY..
YOU SHOULD FACE IT BACK..
CAUSE NOTHING WILL CHANGE IF YOU STAY SOMEWHERE THAT NEVER EXISTED...

THANK YOU FOR TAKING YOUR TIME READING THIS POST..

Yeah, sometimes reality just sucks but we can never really escape from it. And yeah, our own fantasy worlds just help us from recovering and regaining our happiness but as you say, it could never(or may) come true... maybe live the reality with a dash of fantasy to lighten up our dull day. :) That's what I do. And I have this imaginary friend I made up since I was a little kid because nobody is there to listen to me and to talk to. And he's still here! XD I always talk to him whenever I'm down, agitated and happy! ^o^

I like escaping to video games and shit as much as the next guy, but life is too good to fucking miss, wasting your life away in a fantasy world hoping the real world will get better. I won't. The real world fucking sucks. Grow a pair and learn how to enjoy the GOOD things in life, instead of focusing on the things you want to escape from. Live life deeply, because you only get one chance.

I'll go out and say that I believe my fantasy world is becoming predominant and sometimes reaches into the real world however I only ever feel safe when they do cross and maybe that is because I love the inconsistency I feel when this happens as I know I am in the real world but my vision shows it like it would be in my fantasy... sorry if none of you were able to understand but I'm sure a few of you did.

I'll just say that my fantasy world...well it's actual fantasy and I'm safer in it since I have powers lol...-.-" I just daydream and think up of stuff. Seriously I've been thinking about reality and life and crap and how to human brain works since second grade and my brain is jammed in with billions of stuff. I had a nightmare about it even. You know the disney castle thingy where all the pictures come together to make a castle? Well all my imaginations and thinking did that except 100 times faster, all 1000 pictures and voices came to me and I woke up screaming. The next day I couldn't remember what I was thinking about for the last two years. I''m waiting and thinking until my brain overloads and stores the data away in a recycle bin somewhere again. LOL (but srlsy, I DONT wanna go through that again)

I think it would be a hell of a lot easier to say that from a safety point of view, the fantasy world is where I feel the most at ease. Why? Because in the fantasy world I create there are no parents to make me do things I don't like (and I'm not talking about chores here), false friends, broken relationships or any other horrifying things from this torn apart world. But, if we keep living in our fantasies, then we will definitely keep on thinking that reality is just that - torn apart. Is it really? It's true that people make it that way, but if we are smart people, we won't get defeated by it.
So yeah, I can fairly say that the fantasy world is where I feel safe, but it doesn't prepare me to feel as safe in the real one. And, unfortunately, we live in reality.

The real world is where everything happens and where real things happen to you. You experience amazing things that will stick by you for the rest of your life. Things are better when they happen to you in reality. But I'd choose the fantasy world because I can dream and imagine all different kinds of situations and explore outside by comfort zone. And if things don't go the way they're suppose to, you can just backtrack and keep going. It's a elastic world, ya feel me dawg?

But by the end of 8th ive accomplished so many things and have made so many goals it only gets me excited for the next day in real life not my fantasy world. I would actually prefer the fantasy world- even though they will never come true, imagining things that I can never do would have me think of something that can never happen, thus having it that I would have never imagined how I could just live in another life here in reality than somet world that I could have peobably not discovered.

you can have both. most people want the anime life but most events would never occur in real life because you dont live in a world thats full of excitement, action and love in an anime sense. but you can make your reality alittle bit like that by changing the way you do everyday things! taking different routes and choosing options you wouldnt normally do will increase your chance of running into excitement:) being outgoing and conscious of your surroundings never hurts as well. you may not think this can work but it can. i hated going outside and around the city because it couldnt compare to what i was imagining my life being as i watched my preferred 'reality', but it was only fantasy. and if i keep thinking the way i did and sometimes still do, you'll never be happy! happy happy happy oshiawase ni :)

Of course most of us would choose fantasy world. It is made up of our desires and ideas, desires that can be possible to achieve or not in reality. When we can't put it to reality, we simply call it fantasy world and run unto it when we can't take real world.

If you choose reality, then most probably you are satisfied with your life. But I guess that's not possible because people's needs and wants never ends.

I actually have been asked a simmilar question. I used to Roleplay on World of Warcraft, and I found my niche so to speak. It was a military based guild, with a lot of great people. Well, after making really good friends with these people and getting really close to the guild leader and her roommate, the roommate told us the guild leader had died in a car wreck. Well, that didn't actually happen. It turns out the Guild leader was posing as two different people, and it tore alot of our guild apart, especially the Boyfriend of the guild leader since they had met online they never really met each other. Alot of question were asked and such and eventually I ended up leaving the game entirely.
Later, in Guild wars 2 I told the story to one of the three guild leaders i was in at the time (this was my second attempt at role play and because I was "good" (i thought I was atrocious) he wanted to know what other games I role played in and it led to the story.) Anyway he asked me if I could go back to playing and enjoying the lie as apposed to knowing the truth, and even though what the boyfriend went through was horrible, I said I would go back. I loved roleplaying with that group and I loved interacting with them Out of character. They were some of the best online friends I had, so I would definitely go back to the lie instead of us being torn apart and cut off any way of talking to each other. (I have a couple on facebook but they don't even use it anymore)
But to answer your question I've also struggled with it. I would love to live in the fantasy world I created, but that's not reality and I know that. I also know that I shouldn't mix reality with fantasy. TO be honest, I would rather live in reality, because even though I had some great friends online and character I've made up that I would love to be around, I still have friends in the real world, and none that would abandon me for a fantasy they created either, so really I don't have a choice. I happily live in reality, even if I get hurt by it and get mad and angry, I've still got people I can rely on, and I've still got alot on my mind for Dollars missions in reality too.

I think everyone's world is a fantasy world. Even reality sometimes. People's fantasies blind them from reality. Honestly I'm not sure which one is more safe... The Real world is cruel, but you also can't live in some fantasy or you will be blind to reality and who knows what you'll wind up in... You'll lock yourself away, and yet the fantasy world is what you make of it so it is the most secure place you can be. The real world is just that. The fantasy world can be whatever.

I belive that the 'fantasy world' and the 'real world' can both be a good and bad thing. Personaly if someone offered me the chance to go to the 'Fantasy world' i would take the chance and never look back. But to others the fantasy world is just a dream that they may want to indulge in sometimes but let it stay that way, a fantasy. It all depends on the person, their mind state, their veiw on life, and so many other factors.

This may not have anything to do with you but im still going to write it.
I relate me or myself to A bedroom, I know that sounds weird but just read, In this bedroom their is a bed, a wardrobe, a small bin, a desk, a window, a door, a mirror, four walls and items that you like(toys, games, books). Each thig in this room represents something. The walls are the representation of me, I put pictures and posters on the wall of the things i like and they keep out anything unwanted. The door is my way out of myself and into the reality around me, it is also the door my friends come through to see the me I chose to project and I can close the door when ever I want and lock myself away. The window alows me to see outside all the people and the places but I am not able to touch them unless i leave my room. The wardrobe is where i hold my secrets, my fantisies and things i don't want others to find. The bed is my place of rest and comfort, where i can dream the world away. The small bin sits in a corner, their to throw away any unwanted things(cruel words, bad memories) that may enter my room, but because the bin is small the bin can't hold much and will spill onto the floor and the unwanted things will come back. The desk is my place of ideas and memory. Then their is the mirror, the mirror is the one thing I cannot take away or change because the mirror reflects ones true self. The mirror can not lie. In my room i cannot see anyone elses 'room' because of their walls but they can see mine, sometimes its hard to let people in because others you have let in may have damaged your room.

That would have to be my perception of reality, it may not make sence to you and it may not be right I have only been around 15 years so you may know better. But to me some of my reality is fantasy and some of my Fantasy is reality.

I have asked this question to my friend recently and he said Fantasy and I can a agree with him. But I can also disagree, I said this before to him "but if I were to lock my self in my fantasy world I would never have anything new to add to it because most of the things that are in my fantasy world are added from real world experiences and plus i think reality is much better because my friends are here and they have to go through the same things that life throws at them so I feel more safe inside reality then in Fantasy." don't get me wrong i love the fantasy world and i feel safe in there also but I only use it for when I want to escape reality because Reality is much more harsh then my Fantasy world. You may have a different opinion then mine and i respect that I hope that you live a happy life. Later!

I think both are necessary. Sometimes reality can be fun and you can really enjoy being there but at the same time life can be hard and cruel and you just need somewhere to escape reality. Video games books tv are all ways of helping you to escape and give yourself some refuge. You need a balance you can't just stay in one and stay sane. Well I don't know if this is true for everyone else but I need both.

i choose the real world because that way i can make a bigger difference and actually change things in a positive way. XD

Fantasy is a good refuge, but you have to know that it's fantasy.
I usually feel better when I m in my fantasy world.
And I think that reality is always bitter than fantasy, but we have to face it :(

I choose fantasy because I can make a mistake and go back and make it right and im in a world where I can do anything

152 Name: kanra : 2014-01-05 00:45 ID:uZ7lKTfb [Del]

I feel safer in the fantasy world than i do in reality ^^ in the fantasy world, you can be whatever you want, but in the real world,im just plain old me...nothing special...i often run away to the fantasy world during school in tests,essays,speeches,etc...it just helps me i guess... so i would choose FANTASY over reality anytime of my life ^^

153 Name: starica moon : 2014-01-05 04:43 ID:rmJN9Gq4 [Del]

I chose reality because in the fantasy world I can't touch I can't feel because its not really after all there is so much wonder and beauty even in this world of darkness so Kanra don't feel down because their is always a light at the end of the tunnel ;)

154 Name: Deon~ie : 2014-01-05 15:54 ID:DL4e4IOY [Del]

But if you think about it even fantasy has alittle bit of reality

155 Name: Suzuki : 2014-01-05 20:41 ID:g7SAF0t+ [Del]

I always escape to my fantasy world as it seems. When I'm bored, when I'm sad or angry-even when people or teachers talk since my mind visualizes what they're talking about. I'd probably feel safer in my fantasy world, despite it being a dangerous place..

I feel better in my fantasy world.
There are nobody who hurts me like the reale world.
I hate the real world because everyone who knows me hates me, because I'm not normal.
That's not fair.
I wish I would know someone in the real world who is like me.

PS: Sorry for my bad english...^^

I feel better in my fantasy world. I know it will never come true, and that's what makes it fantasy. If it was real, reality would stain it just how dirty the real world is now. I've come to realise things will never live up to your expectations, so it's better to just dream. In my opinion.

162 Name: Dream-EatingInsomniac : 2014-01-12 12:07 ID:rzjZr1/6 [Del]

Haha honestly? Reality's my choice... I'm too much of a realist/ my mom has been paranoid to the point that she has made it a point that I should look at everything realistically and over analyse everything....*cough,clears throat*

Anyway... Yeah, it is really nice to retreat into my fantasy world once in a while. And I aint talking about sticking myself to my comp and reading/watching mangas and animes and gaming the entire day. I mean like fantasy worlds of adventure, sights, etc. Gives me loads to think about and then some stuff but everything in my fantasy world just gets predictable after a while and that predictability becomes a bit of a bore. Its my world so I do away with things I don't like and go with those I like.

Then we have reality with its predictable and unpredictable moments. Laughs, tears, etc. Reality really is cruelly wonderful. It just throws all these problems for you to solve and brings you all those moments that you wish last forever. Things yet to experience and fond memories that will end up being implemented into your fantasies. So yeap. Reality for me :)

I feel safe when I merge my real world and fantasy world together, making things in my fantasy world possible. My LIFE is my WORLD, and so, things only come into my mind as I can perceive them. So, when I put both my fantasy world and real world together, my real world is a fantasy~!

I spend most of my time either writing or reading or watching something that takes me away. Of course though we all live in the real world and it is what you make it...

For me, writing and reading (Fantasy world) is a chance to give me new determination to endure the real world. Sometimes all you need is determination and hope. Compassion. Emphasis.
I myself do not care about bliss or being secure. I just want to do theright thing, how tough it may be. If any of you think the same, tell me :3

I kind of daze off most of the time, living in my own world. It literally is set up like a world with less problems and more kindness. People who do not know about it call me absent-minded, People who do know about it call me insane.

We do live in a realistic world. But too much reality might really take its toll. Fantasy world ..nobody ever said that it cannot come true. it differs from our own perspective of what is the definition of your fantasy world.

I've been the the fantasy world for a while. I fluctuate but recently I've been trying to deal with reality head on and it isn't working so well. I'm going back for a while and hopefully "the sun will come out tomorrow."

I honestly would feel better in a fantasy world, but that would be boring after awhile... so a mix of reality and fantasy is a lot more healthy and safe, so I think I'll go with a mix.

well, both would be just the same. if you balance it socially and mentally. having your own isn't that bad. but just make sure you are the only one who knows it :D

It's good to have your own world/fantasy but don't overdo it. You have to get out of your shell from time to time. No matter what we do we always have to face reality.

188 Name: Alt3REgo : 2014-02-04 08:23 ID:vmOhPLIz [Del]

Sometimes, I like to step out of my Fantasy world for a little break. Yeah, you read that right.
It's like, I find trouble in real life and retreat to my own world for a bit, but I have to come out again into the real world.
It's sort of weird, actually. But yeah, Um. I can't really explain it.
I just find it better not to be absorbed into either one individually.
A balance of both gives me a peace of mind.

189 Name: Zayrha : 2014-02-04 08:54 ID:DDtyceme [Del]

i'm with @Alt3REgo, i think we all have a fantasy world where we can stay alone and safe, but you have to return into real world to face problems and to solve them. friend are also the key to solve problems; uh... i think also here with dollars you can try to make real world better for you
