On one hand, people were notably more racist in those days because, well, people were more clearly separated from one another.

On the other hand, it could simply be seen as an invasion of territory. It just so happened that its inhabitants fell under the category of one single native american race. I doubt they would've been less indiscriminate if some of them were different colors, because for all intents and purposes, they were cleansing the land for the Europeans.

It's impossible to glorify anything in history without lying, but it was markedly the roots of the United States.

Anyway, I'm waiting for someone to play devil's advocate and try to defend genocide. I doubt anyone actually has that mindset, but it's not difficult to point out "pros", whether or not they are ridiculous or even outweigh the cons.

Genocide doesn't imply another side not being able to fight back. It only applies to killing a mass group of people. Mostly of a certain color, race, religion and so on. Because otherwise it's just mass homicide.

Hmmm... Despite the poorly made OP, I feel I must contribute to a topic pertaining to genocide. Personally, I'm for one. Not too long-lasting, but we have a few too many billions of people on this planet. I say we set up a suicide assistance program, where suicidal people that don't have anyone that cares about their well-being can go to fulfill their wish. However, if even one person claims them as a friend within a week of signup, and proves it, they will not be permitted to enter the camp. Those who have nothing to lose, or live for may enter, but anyone that even has a small reason to live would be kept out by force. I know this theory is widely considered "immoral", and possibly cruel, but this is where I stand.

Anyways. On a humanistic view, genocide is a bad idea. Aside from issues of morality, we also lose whole cultures and whatever unique things a group can offer. How would you like it if it was like your ethnicity/race/religion/nation never existed? |: Genocide leads to less diversity which in turn leads to less stability. It leads to more fighting, to racism, religious intolerance, anti-whatever. It does nothing but hurt the world.
