Me and Thiamor are putting together an experienced and dedicated development team for a new chat room we will use on the site. We are looking for users with these requirements:

-Experienced with and have at least a satisfactory knowledge of PHP, html, and Javascript as well as website/chat room/instant messaging design.

-Mature, works well in a team, and willing to take orders.

We need, at-least someone who can create a database from within web pages itself. This way no one would need to host actual files from a computer, we could then upload the actual files via net, and have the webpage database locate it there. Also it's more Server up-time, due to not having to hope the host's Internet or computer doesn't have to go down for any reason.

I'm offering my site for it to be made on, free of charge, with full on editor abilities for all involved.

Also the way that I'm wanting it made, will RECREATE the Dollar chats, but not have to use that super complicated code. It's more a type of 'impersonation' code, that has it look like it's working just like the Dollar chats, as well as LOOKS just like them, but it will work on any phone, computer and PS3 and whatever else gaming console that has it's own Web-Browser.

I'd really appreciate it if those who can do this, and want to, tell us so now, so we can get started with it ASAP. The quicker we get started, the quicker it gets done, and the closer it gets to us not having to use the one we are redirecting to.

I found this, just in-case we NEED a different way of getting a Database created, and it isn't possible through my way. From what I read, it's an online and FREE web-based Database.

We can use this, if we need to.

It'd be easier using this, with my site, than creating a whole Database from scratch.

Anyway I kind of had an idea along with this. To add a mic button to people can talk if they wish.

I made an image to show how it should look.
the IP logger, shows the IP that logged WHEN they type in their name and posts a post.

The Online IP list shows all IP's logged in.
The ban and kicker is a text box that when you type in their IP it either redirects them to Google, or the ban perma=redirects them.

Along with that is a name input so we don't need a login page.
The Bubble input is just a thing that will work as such:
Bubble Color: Red.
The code looks for the corresponding color in the script, and thus then does an image tag, that pulls up the bubble per post. It then adds in a 'overlay code' that places text overlay, over top of the bubble, so then it looks just like the other Dollar chats.

the URL input, checks for image url's made for the Avatar. If you place the image url INSIDE of the box, it then finds it, and resizes it, and then when you post, it shows the avatar.

Delete Post deletes the post it's in-front of, but it needs a password to work. This is for admin. The kick and ban inputs, and clear page also work with the password.

Also no rooms will be available to be made unless WE make them. That's only if the demand for another room is high.

Also we will need Text limits per bubble, per line. Because say there is 2 lines, we need the bubble to be edited to be big enough to hold it, and if say 'Text = *limit per row*' it then finds the image coded in to work for it. Then the limit also keeps people from going off of the bubble with text.

Well I can make as many web pages as I want, so if demand is high for another room, so people don't always have to be in the same place, we make one. Don't really need any name. Just the fact it's another chat.

Also I got one other idea, which adds an interactive feel to it.
A image URL input for background images/ Background color choices. Where it only works for the person doing it, so it doesn't change how it looks for everyone.

For example, say I don't like the black background, and want, say, a custom design. I make the design, upload it to Tinypic, and then put the image url in a bar and it adds it in.

To make it where it only shows for the person doing it, it doesn't go into the database. It then will only be view-able by the person doing it. Otherwise, the one they do see by default is the Black background.

Oh, also a scroller bar for up and down and left and right HAS to be added for the page. Then it automatically will NOT hide posts that go off the page, it'll just add onto the page size by going down. Left and right scrollers will be useless, just there as a safety precaution.

Also, I don't think it's possible, not for me, anyway, to have it minimizable, unless we code it on a whole new page, that we can access to check what IP's are logged in. This way, it's not on the actual chat, and less scrolling we'll have to do, when more people are on.

We don't need it by where you live.
We just need it so EVERYONE can get together. Location doesn't matter, when we are only there to talk.

So 1 chat for everyone, until, say, we get on average of 50 people a week. Then we recreate that chat by coping the same code, and just having it on a new page. Maybe a new database, just in-case if we copy it and have it on 1 Database, it might just show the same chat going on.

The more people, equals to a higher chance of finding someone who can help out, and the quicker we can get started.

Also another thing to add, which I think would help, is 'post dates' for each post. The day, the month, the year and the current time that the site is using.

The Icon/Avatar thing SHOULD resize itself so it fits in. There are codes for that. You place the image url into the text bar under the 'URL Input' area, and it places the url into set image tags, which is coded to appear in the bigger box, beside it.
Same image will show for the Icon spots beside posts. All the same coding used so it appears in the right places and of the right sizes.

We then can also create our own custom Icons. Could TRY to get that one person in the Art Board to help with that, since they make them.

We plan on making other rooms, but only if the demand is high. 1 or 2 people rping in a place not meant for it, isn't a high demand. Not enough to bother wasting room until we need it.

Right now the only focus is getting 1 room actually working before we start thinking about how many rooms we'll need.

Personally I don't think we shouldn't put a url box in for custom avatars, some avatars might be offensive or just doesn't match the Dollars theme. I think we should just keep the avatar selection, only add more to it (submitted avatars). But that's just my opinion.

This is the easiest way in terms of HTML, allowing it just to show any image in the image tag. This way no complex coding is needed, and no extra coding for images.

Also if it's offensive, we ban them.

Also if it's interactive, such as allowing what they want, more people on here will use it.

Well it isn't where they CHOOSE it for it to work. It's just there. But we CAN make it automatically open up a second tab or page, that opens up the Avatar page so they know to get the URL.

It can be like this. Under each image, is the URL. So they just need to copy and paste from the Icon page, to the chat.

What kind of better banning system could we have than an IP ban? If there are no accounts, that seems like the mos effective way.

The ban bans their IP. Just like everywhere else. The other kicks them. There is no better way unless we make it where it bans ALL of their computers on their network. Which we can do because all Networks have 1 IP from their router. Which we can get the same way as now.

The only concerns I have with banning are: Instances where people 'do' share a living space. I mean for a while, I did live with my friend. And then there's the router ban, I know of about 4 or 5 places within just a few minutes drive of eachother that offer free wi-fi.

Another little cosmetic idea is to have Mods/Admins have an exclusive Golden (Golden, not Yellow) chat post color. I also thought of putting the default admin avatar as the generic "avatar dude" (white person, colored background) with a crown. So an idea was posted, which is about having all of the buttons hidden until you push a button.

My idea is to have something coded into the text-input, that works like so:

$showoptions

Then when you hit enter, it doesn't show what you typed because it's a code that works the moment you hit enter, but then once you do it shows all of the options.

Then you can type $hideoptions for it to hide them.

It takes less coding to make it work when you hover the mouse over, than to code it to work based on what you type. Your suggestion is the best bet.

But here is a revamped idea based on yours. Instead of it working where you hover over it, it works when you click it.

Because there is a code that I know that works like that. On_click should be the mouse code. Google it, but I think I'm correct.

During the Icon re-sizing's, if we place THIS code in the part that allows for them to have their own, it will automatically resize the image to what we want it to be.

Here is an example:




It will then re-size any image placed in the bar we make, to our desired size.

We should also do the same for the Text bubbles. Even though they will be added in at the correct sizes. You can only choose bubble colors, so all of the bubbles will be the same size. It's just going to be used as a safety precaution.

We can't just have a thing made up, because it'd be too much extra work, to have it register each person who is and isn't an admin. This way, it just works when they enter the password. We can set up a 'super admin' password where only those who we deem worthy, can get it, so they can watch out for posers and whatnot.

Also we can make a notification for the name changes.

I'm creating a server out of spare parts. I don't think it will be the biggest server ever, but we might be able to use it if I get it to handle the kind of payload we need it to. Keep your fingers crossed.

There anyone willing to rip out menu's and buttons on my screen shot, and have them sent to me in a .ZIP file for later use? We would love that, because we'll need it. Also when you rip the menu the buttons are on, the grey one, you'll have to fill in the color back, or I will once it's sent. 1 button, really, needs to be made on the menu, and the ones on the top do, too. If we added in voice chatting and it just so happened to need a program downloaded for each person to use, would you download it? It wouldn't hinder your ability to use the chat, it'll just allow access to being able to voice chat.

Just thought you might want to know: It's not really working well for me :/ Idk if it's just my laptop or internet explorer or what, but I go there and at the top where I assume an advertisement should be is "Webpage cannot be found" and above where you type in your name is "Login error" and it won't let me in. Also, not sure if I’m just misunderstanding being able to chose from your own picture library or not, but it only gives me the choice of the original six icons.

Again, it's most likely just my internet explorer/connection being shit, but just in case it's not I thought you might want to know.

I've made four chatrooms on my newest website that users pure HTML, PHP, and Javascript, even though I was planning to use MySQL. I'd seem interested in helping build a chatroom, but I don't know how much of help I'd be for you. I know TONS about HTML and CSS, I know my PHP, and I'm currently learning more. One language I do have a lot of problems with though, is javascript ;_;.

I have taken both a Java programming and a Microsoft Expression Web class, so I know both fairly well. I can also get copies of Expression Web for those who need them.
