christmahanakwanzika (32)

1 Name: The Doctor : 2011-12-24 21:29 ID:Dm9aoIXa [Del]

Hello there! and happy christmahanakwanzika to all dollars out there!......Seriously though, I want to talk about the few people who are "offended" by anything dealing in Christmas. Just the other day, I told a customer at work "Merry Christmas" and he started yelling at me, saying that I'm shoving my religion down his throat. Or when a neighbor calls the cops on me because I have a manger scene on my front lawn. Not to mention, school pageants have been changed, and the whole, "no one is allowed to say 'Christmas' it has to be 'happy holidays'" all because of a small group of people complain that they find it highly offensive to them. My opinion, "NO! IT IS NOT OFFENSIVE! IT'S NEVER BEEN OFFENSIVE, YOU JUST DON'T LIKE IT, AND YOU WANT EVERYONE TO DO WHAT YOU SAY!

Saying "Merry Christmas" is not offensive. Saying "I F#!ked your mom while taking a s@$t on your newborn baby" IS offensive, because it's objective is to hurt people.

Some people use the excuse, "Well, it's not my religion, so you have no right to say it to me!" well, then I would say, "Well, it is my religion to wish you a merry christmas. You don't have to wish it back, but on the other hand, I am wishing you good fortune for the coming season!"

And the atheist, nit-picking at the constitution, to try and eliminate Any religious holiday (both Christmas and Hanukkah) as a national holiday, "Fine! YOU WORK ALL THE TIME WITH NO DAYS OFF! (sunday being the religious day of the week) And I won't get you anything for x-mas, valentines day, or your birthday!"

I'm just tired of the whole, "I find that offensive!" attitude when you try to wish someone a merry christmas.........
WOOPS! I meant to say "christmahanakwanzika"

Yeah I've always thought that people who complain about people saying "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays" were jerks. I mean just take it damn it, it's the thought that counts.

I totally agree. When I say "Merry Christmas". I'm not trying to force my Religion on anyone. I know plenty of atheists and one
Jew who celebrate Christmas. I wouldn't get offended if someone tried to wish me a happy Kwanzaa or Hanukkah.

Some people say things like " If you can't respect our holiday and say merry christmas go back to your own country BLAH BKAH BKAH" and its EXTREMELY rude :/ People need to understand and respect.

People mainly say "Merry Christmas" because Christianity is the most dominate religion in the U.S. I'm basically Buddhist, but I have no problem with someone saying Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy Hannuka (sp), or anything. It's a nice gesture for them to wish me joy. Trying to say nobody can say that is just as bad as shoving religion down someone's throat.

Attacks on Christianity everywhere these days, stay strong and be strong in your faith!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Let me rephrase my rant, It's not the religion part, just how people complain about a simple saying, and how traditions are being stomped on.

This is the reason that i say happy holidays and not merry christmas

18 Name: Sayermon : 2011-12-25 14:30 ID:I6A2+q75 [Del]

I tend to say Happy Hanzkanzamas(Hanuka + Kwanzaa +Christmas), so no one gets like that too me or stuff like that.
But the people who made complainants went way too out of hand.

But Happy Hanzkanzamas!

I never got what is wrong with saying Merry Christmas! it is NOT SHOVING RELIGION DOWN PEOPLES THROATS!!! People who say that obviously don't know shoving religion down throats because if that were my intentions, then there really would be a clear difference!

So Merry Christmas too all or happy whatever reason your not at work/school right now

Kinda got a bit offended at the Atheist part, mainly because you seemed to be subjecting ALL Atheist to it. I am atheist, but I don't mind people wishing me Merry Christmas. In fact, I wish it back. Don't go raging on me for that, though.

21 Name: Ayanavi : 2011-12-25 14:57 ID:Ujoov0Ee [Del]

I like people who get offended over pointless shit like this.

They fuss, and they bitch, and they generally have very little logical facilities - Meaning any halfway competent individual who has a decent wit can run verbal circles around them and actively make them feel terrible about themselves, or become so furious that it sticks with them for a good portion of their day.

The end result being that either way, their day is ruined and they become miserable. Extra points if it's done in crowded areas and they get publicly humiliated or ostracized.

To be completely honest, I am a happy and content practitioner of schadenfreude. The more miserable they get, the better my day becomes! So these kind of dumbfucks are kind of like walking batteries of joy to me.

hahaha Ayanavi I like your way of thinking!

I don't mean to stereotype, but it always seems that when I witness someone offended by religion, it's by those that don't follow one. I mean, if the are so bothered by "Merry Christmas" than what do they suppose we call the holiday? Yes, I get that "Happy holidays" is supposed to cover everyone, but what is the name of the celebration that atheists are celebrating? I end up hearing "well, what if I didnt celebrate Christmas, asshole?" but at the same time, my telling anyone to have a Merry Christmas has never offended anyone of a different faith.

I'm an Agnostic Atheist. I didn't feel like he was trying to generalize, just naming off what he's seen people of different beliefs do.

That being said, I still wish a Merry Christmas to others, and celebrate it for the family and fun. I agree with Doctor so much.

25 Name: The Doctor : 2011-12-25 20:11 ID:Dm9aoIXa [Del]

>>20 I didn't mean all atheists, like I've said, it's just the small group of people who tend to get a lot of media attention and say they represent all of that group.

26 Name: Midnight : 2011-12-25 21:19 ID:3BBgmQAG [Del]

Well, I honestly do understand what you mean. I do understand why schools are changing it to "Happy Holidays!" and stuff. Hmmm, so what do you want to do about it is what I am wondering.

merry christmas is just like saying have a good year or good day so i agree with you

29 Name: Ninja42 : 2011-12-25 23:14 ID:M0C9GMVl [Del]

I agree but disagree. I wouldn't be too offended if someone came up to me and said, "Happy Hanukkah!" but someone else might be. I can't control how others react to what I say, but I can control what I say and try to be aware of the fact that other people are different from me.

The way I see it, people wearing yamakas, or burgas have a religious right to do so. I'm not wearing an over sized and blinged out cross/pentagram or w/e. And it's not even religious, if I'd stop people on the street and ask to sing happy birthday to Jesus, yes I'd expected to be knocked out and sued a few times.

But honestly, it's bitter people that can't stand seing others happy. They have their own celebrations and festivals, and we -mostly- don't give a crap and are happy that they get to blow off some steam.

In any case, Merry Christmas! and a Happy fukin holidays!
